Fun fact: just under the golf ball in Sapienza theres a hidden mine bugged underground and if you shoot it just the right way it explodes! Killing one of the characters you need to assassinate.
8:12 The woman just wanted a nice photo in front of the cave and then Philip comes with his slightly too big backpack and bombs the photo lol. She then turns around like "bro wtf?"
reminds me of the story of cs_italy where the original map makers were asked wether they were inspired by a specific city and people went to look for real lifes places. but one of the makers said: "it was just from the american point of view." so completely out of imagination, what an italian city could look like
When I was there in real life at that church, there was a freak wave that wiped out 20 people on the pier sending them into the water, one person had to be driven off in an ambulance.
Sapienza is an amazing level. One of the things that I think sets it apart from a lot of the other (still very good) labyrinthian levels is that it manages to be both confusing and directed at the same time. All the narrow, winding streets and stacked terraces create the impression of a labyrinth and can confusing the first time you're exploring them, but the way the whole level slopes towards the sea means that you quickly become able to orient yourself, long before you've played the level enough to start memorizing all the little landmarks. Compare that to something like Mumbai, which also deliberately creates the impression of a labyrinth but doesn't give you the same easy way to orientate yourself. Still a good level, but not as smooth to get used to or fall in love with.
This video is absolute perfection. Great mix of humor and random interesting facts. The combination of the B-roll and the script was 👌. Also much appreciated all the talk about phalli.
I think I figured out why _I_ like Sapienza so much the tiny streets, underground tunnels & ruins remind me of a town near where I live. It's more medival than antique and not in Italy, the church is bigger than ingame, but there is a spooky bone chamber A friend of mine's family lives in a mansion there that is maybe a bit smaller than the Caruso mansion. only they make wine underground and not viruses
It feels like italy changed philip. It changed him to be more brittish than he was before. The amount of perverted jokes exceedes all of hour expectations and I like it.
Would have been cool to see Sapienza done in Hitman 2 or 3 where crowd density via use of imposters was massively improved. It would have looked a lot more similar to the town you visited if that was the case. I always felt like Sapienza's side streets with moderate foot traffic were more similar to the older, narrower streets in Paris or other areas of French cities, where you get one pedestrian every few metres, as opposed to larger crowds. The level does feel like a European city, but more like an exclusive tourist destination than somewhere people can mill around freely.
@@zaicanna96 Pretty sure that it's just engine/gameplay related. Crowds became much denser in Hitman 2, and they actually apply tall grass concealment, which is why Paris is very different between the entries in the new trilogy. It also would have just put pointless strain on the game to have big crowds in side streets that you actually don't do much with in a normal run (both targets and the virus are right on top of each other in one corner of the map, as opposed to Paris where the main building *is* the whole level). The jump from a level like Sapienza to a level like Mumbai in terms of density is pretty extreme.
In my opinion this level was set on the "costiera amalfitana" location in italy near Naples, like Poistano, go look for yourself the drone view of that place, it's stunning how it's similar to that place
9:23 - If you find a Gelato shop that has PINK stuff on display, just walk away. No half decent Gelato shop in Italy has Pink, Blue, Yellow or any other neon colored Gelato. Walk 2 minutes away from the beach, or church, or piazza and you'll find a much better place.
04:32 Is this the first time Philip shows us his girlfriend? The one we only could imagine in our imagination? The one we couldnt be sure even existed?
Traveling to Italy right after finishing Assassin's Creed II back in the day was such an experience... I couldn't look at an ancient building without my mind trying to figure out how you could best climb it if you had the stamina of an italian mad lad of old. 100% can relate with this video.
One of the things I remember about visiting Pompeii in the late 1970s: the floor was littered with old style coke can ring pulls, like shingle on a beach. I didn't notice the cocks.
Blood Money is my favorite Hitman game and I've played it for countless hours on both PC and the 360 back in the day. Never knew you could shoot out the pool thing :-( I've missed out on the joy of seeing people falling to their deaths.
the hitman level "Hawke's Bay" is taken directly from the film Roman Polanski film "The Ghost Writer". They only changed the interior of the house and everything else is verbatim
Fun fact (and I'm just sharing a fact i think other people will find interesting here, no negativity, love the video ok bye): Sapienza is my least favorite level of hitman 1. And I'm thinking, maybe it's because I'm mediteranean and already way too used to that style of houses and streets that it doesn't feel like an exploration at all?
Reminds me of the time that I visited Bangkok looking for Club 27 It’s a shame there is no hotel in Bangkok looks like it, especially in front of that temple

Maybe the sapienza level is based on a period of low traffic tourist like early May o late September
