    I've been looking for a wrap company that will actually respond to their emails and/calls. I'm going to give these guys a call! Thank you for this video! Subbed.

      Sam has called me personally when I requested a quote. I highly recommend his customer service. From what I understand, he sources the same Delmar wrap that my local drum shop used. I can say good things about Precision, too: they returned my quote within 24 hours and had my wrap out the door less than a day later.

    I did a set of Pearl masters custom maple 2 years ago, with vintage white marine pearl, I was quite unpleasantly shocked at the price of the wrap, it cost more than the drums, which I bought 2nd hand. I attached it with contact cement, which is very difficult because you have only one chance to line it up perfectly, once the wrap touches the drum, it sticks and there's no moving it. Anyways, I did a 22 inch bass drum, 8, 10,12,14,16 inch toms, and soon I'm going to do an 18 inch floortom. Being in Canada, and buying the wrap from Precision drum co. in NY, I had to pay $1.37 for every dollar US, plus shipping, plus brokerage fees, but I couldn't find that white marine pearl wrap in Canada.

      Yeah, internationally I'd imagine it's even more or a burden financially to do. It's not cost effective but it can really look great and be done at a high quality.

    I'm really itching to rewrap my gretsch Catalina Maple kit because it an ugly scratched up burgundy color but it sounds really good. I have a 10, 12,14,16,22 (no matching snare). I want to use the 10 and 14 floor with an old Japanese 20 in kick I have as a small "jazz" kit (I don't play jazz 😁) maybe wrapping them in a different color than the full size. Unfortunately for my i like glitters qnd sparkles with is always way more expensive. Do you remember how much it cost your friend to wrap this kick? Maybe i can start with one drum at a time 🤔🤔

    • @malonedrum
      @malonedrum  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know the exact specific cost of this wrap in the video, as I didn't buy it, but I'd imagine you can just go to the website and get clear pricing for each wrap you'd need buy. Typically companies like this are very clear and transparent with pricing.

    So from what I watched you overlap the wrap with the previous piece? You don’t butt the seams?

    • @malonedrum
      @malonedrum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most wraps I've seen have a slight overlap instead of a butt joint.

    Great video! Super helpful. Question. I liked that you used tape instead of glue. Did you tape all along the edges too? Or just at the seams? Wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. And is there a tape brand that you would recommend? Thanks!

    • @malonedrum
      @malonedrum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was a tape included from Jammin’ Sam drum wraps so I can’t help with the specific tape, you’d have to reach out to them.
      What they provided was tape just for the seams running vertically up the depth of the shell. I’d personally like a little more than that, and I’d like to do the horizontal perimeter bears the bearing edges, but we did it by JS’s recommendations/instructions this time.

    • @thejohngoodwinshow7869
      @thejohngoodwinshow7869 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! That was helpful. Did that drum have a wrap on it? Hard to tell. Couldn’t tell if that was just wood. I’ve heard some people have put a wrap over a wrap, and others have removed the original wrap. What are your suggestions? I’m new to this drum wrapping business. 😂 Thanks!

      @@thejohngoodwinshow7869 It was a paint prior to that, I wouldn't do wrap over wrap, the shell might get too thick.

    • @malonedrum
      @malonedrum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think both companies make professional quality wraps, you’d probably just need to factor price and color to make your decision. Good wraps are not cheap.

      This is 2 years late, but both brands glass glitter is the exact same wrap, assume they use the same manufacturer. I have sheets of teal glass glitter from both companies & they’re 100% identical.
