@@tristanphillips3639 there's nothing weird about the Gen 5 magazine they went back to the Gen 3 magazine. Which is easier to load CO2 and BB's. The Gen 4 is only more realistic but not as functional.
Hi Andy, Another great review. I purchased the Gen 4 about three months ago & am very glad I did. It's no tack driver but is OK for back yard plinking. Actually this BB gun was purchased as a safe training aide for my three high school to young adult nieces. For that purpose I have found nothing better that the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4 CO2 BB pistol. My main difficulty with this replica has been getting the threads started straight when loading the CO2 cartridge into the magazine. Sometimes I get lucky & the threads line up the first time but usually I must try several times & also makes sure I don't get frustrated & force the issue. Thanks for your good humor & that Great British accent, Larry
I love the way the gen 4 is the co2 at the bottom and u can’t see it is perfect it really takes the form of the real Glock where u can’t see the co2 cartridge making it look like the real deal
Bought the Gen 4 after seeing this. Very happy with it. In Canada it comes with the Glock plate/cover on the bottom of the mag. Also purchased an Orpaz level 2 retention holster. LOTS of fun.
Thanks for another great review Andy. Umarex seem to have consistently got 90% there but failed to produce a glock that doesn't have some glaring issues (gen 4 excepted). That slide though! Even merely touch the pistol and it's someone is flicking an empty can. How can Umarex or Glock be happy with that!
Too be honest, I felt they thought they needed to make a gen 5, but realized they already had a winner with the gen 4 and didn't want to produce the same thing again at additional cost. What would've happened was another gen 4 just with a new design on the slide(the rounded bits). They should've just stopped with gen 4 and if they wanted to make another glock, just do another model besides the 17.
Same here! Used to own airguns years ago but thinking of getting back into the hobby but damned if I can decide what to buy there is so much to choose from. Ideally I would want a c02, blowback with slide lock on empty, pellet firing, field strippable, decent replica pistol. Any ideas from your binge watching which would fit the bill?
I heard that the version with the safety feature is not the Glock liscened version. There is a gen 5 version that is fully liscensed and is field strip-able
For me the Glock 17 gen 4 ( 6 mm ) using CO2 is the best replica from the Glock 17 platform. I just bought it yesterday and it REALLY feels like a real firearm. It has everything apart from using real ammunition and the fire going off the barrel when it shoots.
Non-blowbacks are great for conserving Co2, and having good accuracy, whereas blowback pistols are for the added realism and fun. They are also more expensive.
Have to agree that i love my Gen 4, it looks and feels amazing and is one of the closest replicas in my collection. The only issue is its almost the most inaccurate by a long way, which is a huge pity. So close and yet so far. Hopefully the Gen 5 although not as good a replica especially where the mag is concerned can address these issues.
Ha! That slide on the gen5 burned my eyes immediately I saw it.😂 But I did though already know which magazine system it uses and that it is not manufactured by KWC as the gen4. Got the gen4 myself. Love it for being a well made replica. The accuracy had to be fixed on it though - because mine shot also very low (approx 7cm low from a 6 meter distance) as it were. Knew that the gen5 was to win the "Joule competition" between these two. Own the ISSC M22 and the UX HK VP9 from before - both sporting this same type of magazine that the gen5 has. And they do shoot harder than the plastic lip magazines do because of being so co2 efficient. My ISSC M22 actually even blew it's firing pin out because of the hard recoil. But the VP9 is my favorite so far. The VP9's slide does not wiggle around as on the M22 and this G17 gen5.. Personally not a Glock fan myself and I only got the gen4 and the pellet shooting gen3 Glocks.
@MachineGunIt No. My VP9's slide sits on there pretty good. It has kind of a very short railing at the front that locks the slide into the lower frame and prevents it from wiggling. Only when the slide is locked back after the last shot it is more loose upon the lower frame.
Great review Andy, wish that I had seen your great review before buying the GEN5. The ratling of the slide is very irritating and it cannot be dismantled.
it can be dismantled. you just need to push one pin out. not field friendly tho and I do not see any use for tearing it down. Also pulling slide does do loading work and trigger gets light after it, but you can skip it and just pull trigger. blow back also does do loading work while shooting.
Picking up my Gen 5 in the morning. Very excited despite the apparent build quality issues. It'll be my first Glock so I have nothing to compare it to. Might even try my hand at an unboxing and review video from the non Gen 4 comparison perspective.
@@mrpenis6969 it suffers with slide rattle but aside from that it's a lovely replica pistol and I'm very happy with it. I get hours of fun. I love what Umarex has done with these guns, but I think I'll pass on this one. I already own 4 of their Glock models, but the very sound of that "clanging" is a huge turn-off for me. My 17 Gen 3 and 19x have a bit of a "clang" to them, but the noise coming from this model is pretty bad. Thanks Andy, great work as usual!
This is also very interesting! My Glock 17 Gen 5 seems to be quite different from the one here in the review. I'm not sure if it's different out here in the states or not. The take down levers on mine are fully functional, and I don't have that same rattle action. I also got the green gas version so I'm not sure if that's also why its different. It's also interesting that these 2 guns shoot steel bbs as well? So it's not just an airsoft gun?
Only thing I like on the gen 5 is the dotted sight and the slide so basically if you could just replace the gen 4 slide with the gen 5 it would be awesome and obviously sites are changeable but if I don't have a red dot and I basically have no other choice but to use irons it would for sure be gen 5 iron sites.

Hi Andy, first of all, thanks for your videos, I love them. I'm thinking of buying the Glock 17. I like the pellet better, before BB, what do you think? Which gen of the glock do you prefer? GEN2, GEN3, GEN4 or GEN5? Thank you
yea, I am a bit late but after seeing this, I went back to check my gen 5. you can tear it down with tools (you just have to push one pin out) and trigger gets lighter if you do loading slide before first shot, (blow back does do the reload work for next shot) but it is not necessary for shooting. IF its not maintained by attendance, the licence will be cancelled.
RIDICULOUS HEY?
Wish I was in the UK and having fun like you guys...
GOD SAVE THE QUEEEN!
Hopefully you can make a Video about helping To PUSH FOR LEGALISING AIRSOFT HERE in aus.. Help our cause out?

Great Video. I own a 9mm Glock 17 Gen 5 and use the pellet copy of Umarex to practice handling and shooting at home at a fraction of the cost
Hey can you provide the link to where you bought the Gen 5?
Could you compare this to the Tokyo Marui Gen 4 Glock 17?
Thanks for the vids. I would like to see an update with a 'fully licenced Glock 17 Gen 5' ..... field strippable etc. I think the compassison to a Gen 4 would be very interessting
Do these things fire pellets as well as BBs?
Thank you Andy , great Review for us . Wow many options for a Glockenspiel , but I think they are milking it a bit now ! . I have a dual ammo Glock and that will do for my collection.
Hope you had a fabulous Holiday 👍 Cheers Simon
I'd like to go with the gen4 but I'm left handed and the gen5 is ambidextrous
Hi Andy, that rattling is this a general problem( Production issue) or only some gun are affected?
if only i could get your thoughts on the H&K VP9 versus de Glock 17 Gen 4, i really can't make up my mind :(
Hello Sir,
Please could you review the air pistol Diana SP50?
I have one and it is not accurate but I enjoy shooting it and would like to know more about its history please.
Yours
Sincerely
Steve from Taunton.
Hi Andy, first of all, thanks for your videos, I love them. I'm thinking of buying the Glock 17.
I like the pellet better, before BB, what do you think?
Which gen of the glock do you prefer? GEN2, GEN3, GEN4 or GEN5?
Thank you
Did u get a answer? What hits harder pellet or bb
@@ian.new.life. No, they haven't answered me, I don't know which one shoots harder, but the pellet is more accurate, that's for sure
@@marcsoler2409 what pellets are best? R u in uk or usa
@@ian.new.life. I am from Spain, here the most used are those of the Gamo brand and apparently they are the best in the world
Thanks Andy for the review. I was going to buy a gen 5. But I will go with the gen 4👍
yea, I am a bit late but after seeing this, I went back to check my gen 5. you can tear it down with tools (you just have to push one pin out) and trigger gets lighter if you do loading slide before first shot, (blow back does do the reload work for next shot) but it is not necessary for shooting. I don't have gen 4 so can't correct anything with that or compare to it :)
Would love to get hold of a gen 4, can you advise as to a reputable supplier please?
This is more a review about Co2 vs Green Gas Glocks...
How is the green gas Gen5?
green gas? they both use 12g co2 cartridges
can anyone recommend a good lazer site for the Glock 17 Gen 4 Please? Many Thanks
Gmconn P10 Amazon give it a try bud i got it on my gen 5 looks clean
Hey, just thought I’d mention that i was able can dissemble the gen 5, and fix the rattle. Managed to do it today, with zero gun knowledge.
could u make a video about fixing it?
Gen 5 kind of sucks, doesn’t it.
je8422377 In the airgun, yes. However my real gen 5 is much improved over the gen 4.
It's the gen 3 but worse than 4
je8422377 That’s why you need to get the fully licensed green gas version with all the correct markings. It’s amazing. This cheap ass co2 version is lame.
@@NatsumiTakanawa I agree, airsoft Mike did a review on his channel of the green gas version and it was badass... the co2 just looks cheap...
@bestattak well youve never shot a real glock gen 5 then
been having complaints about get the allen key cover back
onto the gun ..hat is you opinion
this might be a stupid question but do you need a firearm licence or any type in the Uk for these?
Nice video as always Andy. Take care and happy shooting. Cheers :)
Mine loads in after you slide the little door letting you load 2 at a time.
Hi Andy, any chance of a similar review on the green gas versions?
Una buena y completa revisión de ambas pistolas. Queda claro que la versión Gen4 está mejor hecha que la Gen5. Me ayudará a decidirme en la compra. ¡Muchas gracias!
