I have the Premium 3M one and it is freaking terrible. It doesn't push the teeth far enough out so its a total pain in the rear to cut the tape every single time. The absolute worst.
Literally the reason I was looking for a video like this. Mine is so bad its literally impossible to get enough tension at the allowed angle it has. I guess the teeth are really dull. No reason for a safety feature when the teeth themselves couldn't cut you if you tried (literally I tried). Returned it. Amazing how such a simple product can be made so completely useless.
You're 100% correct. However, I've found that holding the rear part of the roll of tape with my thumb helps tremendously. I've also rigged mine to keep the blade forward.
@@fisonato I was searching for a video to see if anyone rigged that dumb retractable blade. What method did you use to fix it in a forward position? Someone else said they used a zip tie - that seems like it might work easily.
super helpful; hearing a little more about how they're SUPPOSED to work gives me some context. these things kind of seem like horses or printers where you have to get to know them gradually before they'll actually do what you want them to.. I'm off to tape up a bunch of boxes for moving so hopefully that gives me enough practice to figure it out, lol
I have a knock-off version, and. it is great. It came with no instructions, so my first uses were clumsy, and I managed to break the plastic part. Since then it has closed up dozens of packages. Great review, and thanks for spreding the news.
It would've been nice to see how to load and show us how to use it rather than talking through it. We could've seen how the one liked most actually worked.
I wouldn't buy any if those 2 dispensers. Especially the so called premium one. Lots of reasons not to if you are taping several hundreds to thousands of boxes a day.

So, for people like my ex who doesn't know how to load it (where tape end/beginning wraps around), why didn't you actually show how to actually use the gun - and hot to install the tape? I had to show her after she watched this because your video doesn't show the actual steps needed to use this new-er style tape gun.
Tape gun is junk . the blade is just shy of the end safety guard if the blade was 5/8 in longer would b great . its almost like they purposely made it short to be irritating. . us patent made in china

So how do you load it?
I always take a zip tie and rig up the cutter so it stays forward all the time, much more convenient to use that way

When I first bought the professional so taped all boxes for move. Now cannot load it correctly.
