I wrote a first comment and for some reason it didn’t post -.- so I need to write it again... It seems like most of the Goodreads reviewers disliked the book compared to youtube reviewers. But yeah I couldn’t get past the first 100 pages. I actually just wanna know who killed Nola...
I tried reading this but have given up after 100 pages. Marcus is very unlikeable and apparently the other characters are too. The goodreads reviewers liked it much less than youtube it seems. Also strangely I never really pictured Harry as 70 years old lol, even though duh, he is. I wanted to finish the book and then watch the show but I think I’m gonna just skip the book :/
Apparently Marcus’s mum was just a comedic trope, like that cliche’d Jewish mother you find in American sitcoms. That’s what I read from Goodreads anyway. Also I really disliked Marcus’s flagrant arrogance (Marcus the Magnificent)
the mother is a character that is part of the story because the writer is in the story. And he is or is not a good character, depending on how you want to see it, but that is also what it is about having pathetic characters, just like Harry is. It seems that in the end the writers will have to write what is politically correct, it seems that they will stop imagining, it seems that finally we will all have to stop imagining, dreaming, feeling...
Yeah but the dialog is very bad… I mean you could have an ignorant mother there’s no problem with that but her character didn’t impacted the story what’s over… when you are writing a story you can have awful characters that’s not a problem (Lolita is regarded as one of the greatest novels and the protagonist is awful) but you have to also think how the character blends in this narrative, her only purpose is to be maybe be a relief in the story but it’s obvious that she wasn’t well developed, the structure is there but is obvious that the author wasn’t sure about what to do to her
I just finished the book. I love it. Thanks for your video
Thanks for the great video! I liked the book, but I found the length to be a bit tedious.

I didn’t like that either his egotistical persona was annoying. You would definitely not like wuthering heights everyone’s a terrible person.
Yeah but weathering height has more realistic characters they were very egocentric but none of them called themselves “Magnificents” 😂
