When I started out, I was Surge. But when they nerfed the orb generation so the 14 stack was no longer viable, I quickly realized after practicing that I really sucked at the 20 stack. So i switched to RE, and haven't looked back. I just finished off buying my 20 RE books this week and put together a 5x3 for under 8k. Will have to replace one ring and one earring when I get more gold but still sitting at almost 1600 spec so not too worried. And yes while Surge does bigger numbers, i much prefer the playstyle of RE. And the damage difference between the 2 now will be almost even once the April balance patch hits so I just decided to get my RE books now(while they are still cheap) and don't have to worry about it then.
@@JustGrayson Assuming we get the same patch as KR, RE3 is seeing somewhere between 12-15% damage buff. Which means at that time, the RE1 build will be dead.

I started playing Surge in T1 in February. I switched to RE right before Valtan normal release. I just switched back to Surge last week. I've been playing Surge only for 1 week and I am still pretty bad at it and need to constantly check my stacks and remind myself of skill rotations, so I am far from being a very good Surge player. But I am already doing more dmg than I would be doing with RE. Surge is harder to do dmg than RE, but RE is much much harder than Surge to do good dmg, just because Surge does 20% more dmg than RE. Also I never ever fail mechanics with RE. But this week with Surge I almost wipe the party trying to get stacks, land 1 more Surge or do as much dmg as possible. Another thing with Surge it sucks killing the orb in Cali phase 3. Another thing for RE if you are new to the game with RE if you have at least 1627 spec you can get full 3 robs with 3 skills in your maelstorm if you hit the maelstorm too. It makes your rotation a lot smoother not needing to use extra skills to get the last bit of meter. Also I recommend RE3 with Adren 3 over RE1 Adren2 CD3 because not criting sucks.
when it comes to wiping the raid don't worry thats surge special, i played it for a year and i still do oopsies like i caused wipe on brel g6 by landing a nasty 180 mil surge when i usually get 80 to 120 mils that pushed over to the yellow meteor and sometimes u have to stagger but u also dont want to use surge for it so u try to hold it and end up not finishing stagger lol

Personally I think that eventually all blades should know and have both. Both are clearly viable, but sometimes you find yourself in situations where you’re just like “uggh that other build would be so perfect right now”.
You'll find that if your party is strong enough, RE is better in those scenarios due to phasing etc. Surge feels like the worst class in boss rush for example.
Yea bursty classes are great for like hell mode stuff where there's downtime but most content they fall to constant dpsers who knows how to greed damage. Same goes for all three assassin classes. Only "bursty" assassin I play is demonic cuz I was a veng dh main on wow lol but Its awful in cube or Boss Rush or abyss dgs where u have downtime.
Playing surge and RE since start , for new players with low Spec it will be hard to Play RE since orbs generations will be hard , with Surge at the beginning while keeping always 20x stacks with wind cutt , spinn cutter and maeolstrom you will always having damage and orbs it will also train you when and where to surge to bosses for later contents. At endgame contents people highly geared with consistant damages will makes bosses phases faster making Surge players Surge early especially during Vykas Gate 2. Since going in random parties you will don’t know if people really making lot of damages , having a Surge Build for long raids or guardians will Give you a high chance guaranteed MVP with high lvl damage gems on surge skill That’s why having both build is the best option to have TLDR : both builds are fun and requires mechanics and game knowledge Surge for long runs RE for short runs and lot of phases bosses unless when you know when bosses will phase
for now remaining 5 is the best but if u want something future proof go for grudge 3 adren 3 super charge 3 ambush 3 remaining 3 this build will become stronger when we get balance changes.

Since day 1 i've been playing RE over surge, kinda cuz i saw that most of the kr players played with it, but over the time i realized that that was what i was looking for a "fast rotation (more like spamming) with big number", but sometimes i feel like other classes still does more dmg. Right now im saving to buy the surge books (6/20), i had in mind your budget surge with 2 crit rings doing the same dmg as BIS surge.. but we all know trixion !== real raid
Just saw you tonight in a calliligos lobby, and I thought i know that name, but i didn`t remember it`s you, now seeing this, i`m so sorry i didnt applied :))) I play RE main since release, and I`m only playing surge in chill runs like guardian raids. All other raids i`m going with RE since i`m the most used to and confortable with. I only play surge if I do prokel. It seems a lot chiller that RE, with RE if u don`t hit all the skills u lose so much dps, but at prokel u just need to build the stacks carefully and land the big hit! I find it way easier.
its all good also thats funny cuz i tried prokel with surge first and was surprised that the fight is easy so i decided to try with re next and regretted it instantly, he bullied me when i was on re
I started doing prokel as RE and it wasn't that bad. If you drop dark axil and get two stun skills he can't move. Though Surge would be harder because I am slower, but nope. I stun hit use Surge hit 150mil and he dies before he can even hit me.
the party finder struggle was one of the reasons i stopped playing the game. applying for so many groups and getting denied for the dumbest reasons is not fun. and tbh, thats not really just a thing that happens when theres another deathblade party leader, its the majority of the lost ark community at endgame. its very cringe.
Hey, thx for your thoughts! I have a DB alt parked at 1460 and probably it will stay there forever. I want to do valtan and vykas without any problems with gatekeeping. What (most budget) setup would you recommend for this use case?

I’m sorry but I’m still confused on which to run rip. I just hear different opinions all the time. But not knowing boss mechanics as a returning player surge has been tough keeping stacks when a mech happens mid stack or they just fly away. Most annoying thing ever and making me think about swapping to RE.
Both specs are great! Hope i have enough resources to build both. Started RE in legendary.. then relic became Surge.. both playstyles are fun tbh! RE is more of a team build (constant synergy) Surge when the stars align getting all 20stack surge to crit at the back ugh really good feeling. Imho deathblade is a very well thought character concept in LA... challenging yes but very rewarding to play
Yeah but are you still doing deskaluda at 1500 or u actually doing hard content with actual geared players is the question. I MVP often in pugs with control glavier. Don't make it better than pinnacle lol
I pretty much make 80% of my parties for raids and I always prefer Surge over RE because Surge only needs 1 ability to hit to be pretty consistent while RE feels like you need to have very good uptime to be relevant. But tbh the synergy is king, so it's not the biggest deal XD
my point was that re will be more accepted because if a lobby want dmg they will rather go for sorc or arti since they deal more dmg than surge but yeah thats the only condition where i see surge being accepted over re
i literally never invite any RE deathblade, because i use a dps meter and i see how horrible dmg they do, without exception every single one i played with was bottom dmg even with level 10 gems, its a joke

Most zerkers and surge players play the class for reasons other than the like them. They play them cuz they are easy "noob stompers" where the class carries them thru low lvl content and low rating pvp but when it comes to the real deal they always in observation mode telling others what to do while they dead and randomly giving "advice" to other ppl they see with class that's usually just common sense info mixed with a holier than thou attitude the whole "you know xx is better right? @@lostblade9179 I play in static for Brel. My favorite thing is to get 20 stacks and hear "stop DPS" so I have to lose the stacks.

No re for me love soo many classes and don't see the point of running multiple builds when what I have is fine.

I would never loose to RE blade in any content with my surge in dmg it is around 30 to 40% stronger easily.
Also when brel released i was mvp every single gate.
