- This video goes over the assembly, checkout and hookup to oxygen of a manual resuscitator. Also reviewed is the functional components of the bagger system and how gas flows to the patient.
Please note that I accidentally referred to the patient valve assembly having a 22 mm ID and 15 mm OD which is incorrect. The patient valve assemble has a 15 mm ID and 22 mm OD.
There's also a sound that occurs towards the end of the video that sounds like me saying a bad swear word (profanity) but its actually a sound that the bagger made when I grabbed it while looking for the remote.......Oops
I am a seafarer and I found this video extremely helpful. Thanks for your efforts sir.
Hi George! I teach an EMR class and my kids absolutely adore your videos and so do I! We love you! Keep up the great work
I'm one of the students love you George!
So glad I found your channel. Because of you “I get it” and I’m not scared on the job if I keep watching your training.
"When You're attaching the... Ouch!" That was a classic! You are such a great RT!!!
Thanks for being so thorough and easy to understand.
Anchoring the flow meter was a really practical advice!
Great explanation Mr. George
How do you think you can measure the FiO2 delivered to an intubated patient? Is it possible using a flow sensor in the oxygen intake and compare it with the flow delivered to the patient? Are there other options?
thank you for this detailed demonstration!
Ooo...u always make my concept clear..thank you so much..♥️♥️
very well explanation, thank you sir.
Thanks very much. I appreciate your comment.
Great video. But could you please explain, in the valve assembly is the upper valve known as the inspiratory valve and the lower valve the expiratory valve?
then which one is the fish mouth valve?
Great video. One point which wasn't clear was how the oxygen gets into the optional reservoir via a port which seemed to have a valve against it when it was pressure tested...?
Good point about anchoring and supporting the flow meter while connecting the tubing. Don't think we have been doing that, might be a good point to bring up in class again.
Nice one. Can this inexpensive bvm be adapted to have a mechanical reliable “squeezer” to help alleviate the current shortage of ventilators due to covid 19?
Yeah, you can. It will be a mechanical BVM/bagger, not a proper ventilator. Useful enough
Henry Salomon I will make a mechanical squeezer. Should the squeezer squeeze all the air out of the bag in “one burst” or do it gradually ?
Squeezers will probably be the recovered immune.
Very educative thank you
Hi, what's the name of the reservoir to ambu valve? I can't find where to buy it in internet.
Thanks, excelente video
You can google it up
Oxygen Reservoir Bag...
Can you clarify how much is not too much and not too little o2 ?if that makes sense....
Thank you so much good information
So the mail resuscitate a has a Weather RAW all about Piper has one as well, so they kind of the same
Very good teacher
Anything in particular?
Is some kind on venturi valve not required to restrict the percentage of oxygen flowing into the unit?
No. These are used during resuscitation where you will want an FiO2 of as close to 1 as possible.
thanks for ur videos
Upon setting up and using a duckbill valve FMV, I notice the duckbill valve staying open while the flow meter is set to flush. Why is this? Is the valve old?
When you use high flows greater than 15 LPM (FLUSH), the flows may be too high causing unintentional PEEP as the system can't vent the excessive gas coming into the BVM system. Try turning down the flow till you have just enough flow coming into the system to keep the optional reservoir inflated while bagging the patient (note that it doesn't need to be over distended). That should still deliver near ,maximal FiO2 and minimize PEEP as the duckbill should close properly.
@@GeorgeORRT Thank you; I am a second-year RT student
@@lukemoran6557 No problem. Hope that your studies are going well!
@@GeorgeORRT Is there any way you could do a video where you demonstrate all the different breathing patterns: Biots, Cheyne-Stokes, Kussmaul...etc???
Very informative!
Thanks, Glad it was helpful. Have a good day
Hi pls make a video on mechanical ventilator basics...
Sir how much time it will give oxygen to patients
Pls reply sir
As long as your using it correctly it will supply "gas" to a patient. The oxygen level (FiO2) and length the tank or source will last depends on the speed of the gas flow into your bagger and how many times per minute you squeeze the bag. The faster the gas flow rate and respiratory rate, the less time your gas cylinder will last.
Thanks
Where us the exhalation port
Nice sir
Thank you for your comment
❤
Thanx
Your welcome
What is the capacity of the bag (ltr per squeeze). Can u pl share a reliable source which can be purchased in India
Hi George, I'm from TTSH singapore and would like to seek permission for usage of your youtube videos for our elearn. We would like to post the link to your youtube videos in our elearn for education purpose. please advise. Thanks!
Hi Jimmy: That's fine, go ahead and link them. George
Unfortunately one doesn't have time to do all that during a code :D
