    I am a bilateral breast cancer / bilateral lumpectomy survivor - eight years this December. I subscribe to many vloggers - those who have and those who have not survived different forms of cancer and all of whom have undergone treatment based on "the protocols".
    You're decision to stop treatment has certainly made me think - not so much about myself as I am 63 and an estrogen blocker is not so radical for me - but for those like you whose treatment impacts quality of life with no guarantee of success.
    While I'm tempted to give you advice I will say only to listen closely to your body and have your imaging and labs done frequently as we both know that early detection is critical.
    I know that you and your husband will enjoy every day in Alaska... Check out the Aurora Borealis and the night sky in all its magnificence and, of course, watch out for polar bears!
    Peace and Love 🌿🐬

    So happy 😁 for the clear/NED update. You know I totally can relate to every step you talked about. We even both had a lumpectomy on the same side. My right arm veins are pretty much shot, because of course the left arm can’t be used for bloodwork, blood pressure etc. My port is only used for chemo every 3 weeks. I’m so happy for you and Gray, and the new adventures ahead of you both. When I reached my 5 year mark 3 years ago I was very relieved 😅 but of course my thoughts 💭 occasionally think of recurrence(s) down the road. I take it one day at a time. I’m 20+ years older than you, and I’m always happy to hear your updates and plans you and Gray have for the future. Praying 🙏🏼 that you’ll find a great medical team in Alaska. Sending virtual hugs and positive vibes 🪷🌻🌷

    Samantha! Yay! I am soooooo happy your scan went so well! I really do hope you continue your videos. Like you said, there are so many things you had no time to cover like talking about Taxol and your many other experiences. You sharing your experiences and tips helped me so much since my treatments happened a few months after yours and it was a scary and lonely time. Your videos gave me a lot of comfort and information and helped me so much especially since my husband (who took me to every single appointment) had to wait outside the hospital and I had to go in alone to all of my treatments during Covid. Also there was no cancer patient community that I could be part of to share experiences and information, so you became my mini community. Sending you a big hugs and thanks.😘🤗

      @@SamanthaL my treatment started with chemotherapy in August of 2020 in Jan of 21, I was told I was in remission/ maintenance. I get a cancer shot every 21 days and Zometa in my port every three months for bone support and CAT scans too. They are nerve wrecking. As I have CAT I believe that a mammogram isn't necessary for me. Will you have to have mammograms on a regular bases or will they just do CAT from now on? Cancer treatment raises so many questions!

    I like your crazy cooking and chatting style! 😝 so glad all is going well. I have done the whole going out having a preg test for an X-ray then coming back and getting a period shortly after. I have also had the most traumatic PET scan of my life when I had miscarried and my obstetrician had said get the PET and then he will do a D&C. I turned up and they refused to do the PET because I was pregnant even though they had a letter from the ob/gyn saying it wasn’t viable. Then they rang my oncologist at my insistence and came back and lied to me and said he said I couldn’t have PET when I found out later that they hadn’t told the whole story and he would have said Togo ahead and do PET. Argh! Anyway, I hope you have a positive preg test when the time is right! I hadn’t heard you were going to Alaska! Your other videos don’t come up in my feed as often. All the best! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering how the magic 5 year mark was calculated. If it was from the time of diagnosis or after your told your in remission/maintenance. With MBC your told there is no cure. As you have had many PET scans, and the scan lights up in areas where there is cancer, does this mean that yours showed no light up? It is said that all people have cancer cells and It always makes me wonder if there is a normal range that shows up in all people who have PETS. I believe the glucose injection attracts cancer cells to feed and makes them visible.

    • @SamanthaL
      @SamanthaL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why didn’t you take a pregnancy test at home before going to the hospital?

    No, Samantha, that's not what the results say. Stable means no changes. It does not mean no evidence of disease. It means it hasn't changed since your lumpectomy.

    Not a weird video at all. A friend that lives in Alaska posted a video of her family sliding down Baldy, a mountain I presume. A slide is made of packed snow and you slide down on your butt wearing snow pants. Go do that.

    Very glad you are NED. I am not sure how this popped into my feed because I unsubscribed from you because you needlessly terrified women about treatment for stage 4 cancer. That information can kill someone. It's one thing to risk your own life, but it's quite another to empower others to risk their own. You are VERY young. You likely don't understand the repercussions of your actions. But I am a breast cancer survivor who took Tamoxifen for six years with little side effects and who lost a dear friend whose stage 3 cancer recurred after two years. She fought valiantly. She donated a wing to breast cancer center so woman can get chemo in comfort. So you have to excuse me for finding your videos selfish and harmful.

      Thanks so much! I appreciate the comment even though you are unsubscribed. I do feel your comment is a little unfair though. I am just sharing my experience, not giving medical advice or telling people how to fight their own battles with cancer. The medicine was too much for me. It caused too many side effects and I was not strong enough. That does not mean that other people cannot or should not do it and I do not promote one option over the other. I do not believe that makes me selfish. It just means I made a decision that was right for myself and I decided to share the reasons why I did so in case it will help someone else make a decision for themself too
