My friend held the container in her closed fist and we approached the salesman again. She opened her hand and showed him the pill box; He said "What's that?" She said, "Her husband, can we see the car now?"
One should not have to kick off in order to get good service. Having worked with the public all my working life I realized it cost nothing to smile and be helpful. I've tended to have good experiences though one time we had an appointment, the salesperson didn't come over for over 45 minutes. My husband *walked* back to our place. He lost the sale and we did business with someone else. The next time we needed a car, we went across town to a better dealership and have not looked back! We consistently get better service there. I worked for a multi multi multi millionaire landowner / farmer. (30 yrs ago) he decided on the day he sold some land for a few £million to go to the local German dealership garage to buy three cars for his children. He turned up to the showroom in his wellington boots and the sales people ignored him, he eventually grabbed someone and asked about the car, they guided him across the road to a second hand car dealer, he left empty handed and went to another brand instead and spent £150k. I teach anyone in sales to never judge anyone by appearance.
This is a horrible story, with a wonderful outcome! My mom knows someone who sells new manufactured homes. A farmer came in one day. Overalls showing a hard day's work, muddy boots, the whole shabang! The farmer walked into the main office and said the "fancier brand" down the way sent me here to you. Mom's friend said welcome! Sold him 15 brand new homes on the spot! He was purchasing housing for his staff on his farm! I also work in customer service and I NEVER treat anyone any differently based on any reason! Every single person deserves the same care and respect as the next!
I change my car a lot. I usually say when I get the car salesman. Right just so you know! I’m an old lady Ive been buying cars for many many years. I know my stuff and I’m 70 now cut the crap and let’s talk like adults or not at all. That usually stumps them.😅
I'm sorry you had that experience. We were looking at new cars recently, and some sales people just couldn't be bothered helping us. At the dealership where we ended up buying our car, the sales person was only 19, and couldn't have been more helpful. You could tell he was a car fanatic, and knew so much about cars for someone so young. There are good car sales people out there.
Wayne, it's not just you, lovely man. Here in the U.S., I can't tell you how badly I've been treated at car dealerships over the past 45 years, even WHEN I AM PAYING CASH PRICE. I'm a woman of a "certain age now," and they treat me like I'm invisible. AND I drive in with a MERCEDES already!! I don't understand what is in the mind of today's car salesperson!! Who the hell are they "waiting" for to pop in and buy a car?? I guess they are holding out hopes that one of the Kardashians will just happen by, and their life will be complete! F-ing idiots. I went through something very similar to you and I also am a woman of a "certain age now" and paying in cash (although I didn't mention that at first). They sold me a car with a lien on the Title. After almost 2 months, I called Corporate of this brand dealership and in 24 hours I had the document to Title my car legally. Such nonsense! Oh, and the manager of this dealership is no longer there!!! Go to the top!
I paid for mine in cash too! I was lucky I had a great salesman - I think sales people need to BEWARE because I don’t show my wealth and you wouldn’t know by looking at me! TREAT ALL CUSTOMERS KINDLY RESPECTFULLY! (just letting you all know I don’t carry cash with me - I did get a certified cheque/bank draft and it was delivered from my bank to car lot.)
I also paid cash for my car and I’m also a ‘woman of a certain age’. The salesman knew I was the customer and he gave me his full attention even though my husband was with me. I might add that my husband had a shirt on from the dealership he works at.

I went to buy a car with my husband… my car my cash, the salesperson talked to my husband the whole time. Occasionally would acknowledge I was there. After 30 minutes he asked me what color I wanted. My husband looked at him and said oh boy you made a huge error. He said little lady is there a problem? My husband stood back and watched. I said, it’s my car, my cash your sales loss. Even if I bought the car I want it for less plus your commission. I walked out.
Made me laugh so hard hearing “so f**k em” in the politest Wayne tone ever. If only we all swore so politely. 😂😂😂. Tip- never show up in person Tip- start calling dealerships 4 hour drive from your home, haggle price and get written confirmation Tip- make 6 to 8 of these calls working yourself closer to home Tip- then after all of that, call your home dealership with your best written quote and work him down on price. Get your quote you can live with then, go buy your car. Be persistent and Get your car!!!! You deserve it! ❤😊
You definitely did the right thing giving them a two finger salute, if a car sales person acts like this I would never line their pockets with my hard earnt money. Always walk away from people like that! Definitely go elsewhere to a different dealership and demand the car that you want and make sure to get a good after sales deal. We bought a new car in 2021, we knew what car we wanted, went to one dealership and were treated badly. We walked out and went to another dealership for the same car, were treated nicely and bought a brand new car and paid cash for it. Never put up with rude behavior no matter what you’re buying.
I say to myself that it's not the end of the world when someone treats me with disrespect. I tell myself that there's something better waiting for me, and that I am not going to let the situation in question get to me. I would go to another car dealership to make my purchase. I would rather have a colonoscopy than go car shopping. Talk about a time-waster. THEY are the time-wasters! Is there another car dealership that you can go to instead?
This happens in other places too. Be aware if you hear the word "broom". I wanted to buy a car when another salesman came into the office and asked if he had a broom. When he left, the other salesman said that was a word they used if they thought the customer was a waste of time. I left and went to another place a week later.

Many years ago, we wanted to buy a specific car that just came out. We went to a dealer where they had only one of this specific car. We said we are interested in it, The salesman told us it couldn't be test driven. In other words, they didn't want to deal with a young couple who appeared to them that we didn't have the money to buy it. We went elsewhere. We should've written a letter to the owner with a photo of our new car.

Here's the thing Wayne, you have the power and they don't! If a business doesn't treat customers with respect then that business will eventually bite the dust. You don't deserve to be treated poorly! There are alot of dealerships who will have that car if you just give it time, AND they will treat you with the respect you deserve!
This happened to us at a Range Rover dealership! We were looked up and down, shown the brand new car to order from in a dismissive way, he couldn’t have been more disinterested if he had tried….we said we were going home to talk about it further…the guy dismissed us! We returned the next day and ordered the car, the original salesman guy wasn’t there! ( we were going to go to someone else to order) When we returned to pick the car up, the salesman who couldn’t be bothered was obviously surprised to see us pick up our brand new Range Rover. Never judge a book and all that! We enjoyed the brand new car and the look on his face👍🏽
Ohmygosh! I can’t believe “that guy” refused to come down and visit with you. I’m a realtor in the states. I’ve worked with people for two years or more before they finally found the home that was right for them. You never blow off anyone as a time-waster. I always wanted a jeep. I went to a dealership & found a used one. Asked the guy to take $700 off. He wouldn't so I left. Found a new Jeep for the price I wanted to pay & picked it up. The other dealership called me bout 2 wks later & asked if I still wanted a jeep. Told them I got a new one someplace else.
Over a hundred grand?!? OMG, there have to be other dealers who would roll out the red carpet for you, Wayne, if you can even consider a car that costs that much! Incredible.
I bought a car this year and I love it ❤. I knew what features I wanted and what I was willing to pay for it. I did not have a brand in mind. I wanted a PHEV with 4 wheel drive capability, heated seats and steering. I live in Canada and the last three things were a must. I wanted a good used vehicle and I knew what I could afford. My current vehicle was dying so I needed to find one soon. I spent 3 months searching, went to a couple dealerships, and left feeling deflated. I found my car on an online vendor. The thought of buying a car online, scared me, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. They brought me my new car on a flatbed and I went for my test drive. I simply loved it.

Several years ago I was looking to buy a car. I had narrowed it down to two brands. I went to one dealership, and they helped me look at cars. Then I went to the other dealership and told them I was looking to buy a car. The salesman said, "Here's a brochure. Look it over, and then come back." I went back...to the other dealership.
We have had a motability car for the past 10 years as my husband is disabled and I’ve always felt we weren’t treated with the same respect that those who are buying a car but after hearing what you’ve been through with garages Wayne it seems it’s not just those of us who aren’t buying a car. The car industry has changed massively over the years for the worse! Customer service I find as a whole is pretty dire in most industries but automotive is up there! Having worked in many capacities within a main dealer myself I've seen employees attitudes and they aren't good, team morale is down and they need to find a way to get back to the basics...i.e. basic good customer service, interpersonal skills, humility and empathy towards others...they aren't robots yet and need to realise that this is the way it could be going and will need to be looking for another job! Loyalty means nothing these days either, I have been loyal to one major brand for the last 25-30 years and only just recently I found out that my loyalty has meant nothing so I've gone to a different brand ..this is what happens! So completely understand your frustration Wayne, hope you get and find the car you want from someone who gives a damn!
Next time I really recommend mentally rehearsing how you would like it to go. Imagining the warm welcome, maybe being offered a coffee, perhaps an excellent deal etc and really believing that you deserve that treatment. I know this can be triggering for some, but it truly is an outward expression of how we feel inside. These people are playing a role in our lives. Which ironically is supposed to help us to choose differently. Choose to love ourselves even more. Having said that, it might be that you need to find a new garage that matches your lovely energy. You may well already feel the negative energy of this one that doesn’t jive with you? Going in and browsing before committing, you’re basically sensing if they’re right for you. Interviewing them on an energetic level. You are a beautiful soul and you deserve the best. ❤

Reminds me of the movie Pretty Woman. I say, go to a diff dealership, buy the one you want, go back to that dealership, show it off and maybe have a word with the manager. That manager could increase his bottom line with hungrier ,smarter salespeople. Sometimes in sales you have to plant "seeds".. and spend time UNpaid...to develop trust, respect and likeability. Wayne, look up the next closest dealership online and give them a try. Our local dealership for the brand of car we drive is really bad. We had to drive two hours to buy our car but we were treated very nicely. I am so glad I didn't give my business to the local dealer. I love your channel. ♥
I haven't got to the end of your story, Wayne, but you made me laugh when, after cancelling the car, on the following morning you decided to go for it. I find that early mornings and late nights are my "weakness moments", phases of the day during which I've noticed I'm more likely to make purchases that are not strictly necessary.

Buying a car is a privilege that most of us would love to enjoy, and somehow, we rarely do get to enjoy. No matter how much research you do and how prepared you go in, it's an all-day pain in the a**. You leave feeling cheated, abused and dissapointed AND that's the best case scenario. We've had cars with deposits taken sold out from under us, being ignored due to appearance, high pressure nincompoops, and all of the dealer hijinx over the years, too! Yuck!

As someone who works in a dealership, car salesman are money mad and they think they are above other staff. Ten years from now, they won’t have their jobs because the future is online sales. They need to realise how expendable they are. Admin staff will always be needed, service staff will always be needed. Salesmen? Nope.

We have bought our last 6 BMMs and negotiated each one via email with different dealerships. My husband does this every single time. Refuses to waste our valuable time sitting and going back and forth all day for weekend after weekend. It has worked very well.

I feel very fortunate that I have had the pleasure of working with professionals when I bought my last few cars. Toyota and BMW in Minnesota have been fantastic. I’ve worked with men and women salespeople and received stellar treatment. I was buying used every time too. Never dismissed or disrespected. I’m sorry someone had to make their very poor attitude your problem.

Said he had to "talk to his manager" He came back , no deal. I walked out, looked at the manager and said, "You lost an excellent Customer" I'd been doing business with them for TEN freaking years! 🤬

What kills me is that unless he owns the dealership he should be fired. You should call and report him to the manager or owner. That behavior is unacceptable in an employee. (Well, it's unacceptable in anyone, but it's unfair if the owner has no idea that they have an employee who is costing them the sales with this behavior.)

Wayne, it's not just you, lovely man. Here in the U.S., I can't tell you how badly I've been treated at car dealerships over the past 45 years, even WHEN I AM PAYING CASH PRICE. I'm a woman of a "certain age now," and they treat me like I'm invisible. AND I drive in with a MERCEDES already!!
I don't understand what is in the mind of today's car salesperson!! Who the hell are they "waiting" for to pop in and buy a car?? I guess they are holding out hopes that one of the Kardashians will just happen by, and their life will be complete! F-ing idiots.

I went through something very similar to you and I also am a woman of a "certain age now" and paying in cash (although I didn't mention that at first). They sold me a car with a lien on the Title. After almost 2 months, I called Corporate of this brand dealership and in 24 hours I had the document to Title my car legally. Such nonsense! Oh, and the manager of this dealership is no longer there!!! Go to the top!
I paid for mine in cash too! I was lucky I had a great salesman - I think sales people need to BEWARE because I don’t show my wealth and you wouldn’t know by looking at me! TREAT ALL CUSTOMERS KINDLY RESPECTFULLY!
(just letting you all know I don’t carry cash with me - I did get a certified cheque/bank draft and it was delivered from my bank to car lot.)
I also paid cash for my car and I’m also a ‘woman of a certain age’. The salesman knew I was the customer and he gave me his full attention even though my husband was with me. I might add that my husband had a shirt on from the dealership he works at.

I went to buy a car with my husband… my car my cash, the salesperson talked to my husband the whole time. Occasionally would acknowledge I was there. After 30 minutes he asked me what color I wanted. My husband looked at him and said oh boy you made a huge error. He said little lady is there a problem? My husband stood back and watched. I said, it’s my car, my cash your sales loss. Even if I bought the car I want it for less plus your commission. I walked out.
Made me laugh so hard hearing “so f**k em” in the politest Wayne tone ever. If only we all swore so politely. 😂😂😂. Tip- never show up in person
Tip- start calling dealerships 4 hour drive from your home, haggle price and get written confirmation
Tip- make 6 to 8 of these calls working yourself closer to home
Tip- then after all of that, call your home dealership with your best written quote and work him down on price. Get your quote you can live with then, go buy your car.
Be persistent and Get your car!!!! You deserve it! ❤😊
You definitely did the right thing giving them a two finger salute, if a car sales person acts like this I would never line their pockets with my hard earnt money. Always walk away from people like that! Definitely go elsewhere to a different dealership and demand the car that you want and make sure to get a good after sales deal. We bought a new car in 2021, we knew what car we wanted, went to one dealership and were treated badly. We walked out and went to another dealership for the same car, were treated nicely and bought a brand new car and paid cash for it. Never put up with rude behavior no matter what you’re buying.
I say to myself that it's not the end of the world when someone treats me with disrespect. I tell myself that there's something better waiting for me, and that I am not going to let the situation in question get to me. I would go to another car dealership to make my purchase. Their loss is my gain. Sorry this happened to you. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and just remember: what goes around, comes around.

This happens in other places too. Be aware if you hear the word "broom". I wanted to buy a car when another salesman came into the office and asked if he had a broom. When he left, the other salesman said that was a word they used if they thought the customer was a waste of time. I left and went to another place a week later.

Many years ago, we wanted to buy a specific car that just came out. We went to a dealer where they had only one of this specific car. We said we are interested in it, The salesman told us it couldn't be test driven. In other words, they didn't want to deal with a young couple who appeared to them that we didn't have the money to buy it. We went elsewhere. We should've written a letter to the owner with a photo of our new car.
@ I have one nice guy I found 25 years ago and he did retire but if I need a car I will text him and he will help. If you find a good one stick with him!!
Go to a different dealership. I’ve had an excellent service from my dealership. This time of year the car salesman out here are very helpful & pleasant.
Here's the thing Wayne, you have the power and they don't! If a business doesn't treat customers with respect then that business will eventually bite the dust. You don't deserve to be treated poorly! There are alot of dealerships who will have that car if you just give it time, AND they will treat you with the respect you deserve!
This happened to us at a Range Rover dealership! We were looked up and down, shown the brand new car to order from in a dismissive way, he couldn’t have been more disinterested if he had tried….we said we were going home to talk about it further…the guy dismissed us! We returned the next day and ordered the car, the original salesman guy wasn’t there! ( we were going to go to someone else to order) When we returned to pick the car up, the salesman who couldn’t be bothered was obviously surprised to see us pick up our brand new Range Rover. Never judge a book and all that! We enjoyed the brand new car and the look on his face👍🏽
Ohmygosh! I can’t believe “that guy” refused to come down and visit with you. I’m a realtor in the states. I’ve worked with people for two years or more before they finally found the home that was right for them. You never blow off anyone as a time-waster.
Next time you’re in the market for a car I suggest you find another dealership to work with. It’s obvious this one doesn’t respect you or your loyalty.

I always wanted a jeep. I went to a dealership & found a used one. Asked the guy to take $700 off. He wouldn't so I left. Found a new Jeep for the price I wanted to pay & picked it up. The other dealership called me bout 2 wks later & asked if I still wanted a jeep. Told them I got a new one someplace else.

I bought a car this year and I love it ❤. I knew what features I wanted and what I was willing to pay for it. I did not have a brand in mind. I wanted a PHEV with 4 wheel drive capability, heated seats and steering. I live in Canada and the last three things were a must. I wanted a good used vehicle and I knew what I could afford. My current vehicle was dying so I needed to find one soon. I spent 3 months searching, went to a couple dealerships, and left feeling deflated. I found my car on an online vendor. The thought of buying a car online, scared me, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. They brought me my new car on a flatbed and I went for my test drive. I simply loved it.

Several years ago I was looking to buy a car. I had narrowed it down to two brands. I went to one dealership, and they helped me look at cars. Then I went to the other dealership and told them I was looking to buy a car. The salesman said, "Here's a brochure. Look it over, and then come back." I went back...to the other dealership.
We have had a motability car for the past 10 years as my husband is disabled and I’ve always felt we weren’t treated with the same respect that those who are buying a car but after hearing what you’ve been through with garages Wayne it seems it’s not just those of us who aren’t buying a car. Wasted time for all (except for us!) We've all been there.... and it definitely stinks. Sorry to hear this happened to you though.
The car industry has changed massively over the years for the worse! Customer service I find as a whole is pretty dire in most industries but automotive is up there! Having worked in many capacities within a main dealer myself I've seen employees attitudes and they aren't good, team morale is down and they need to find a way to get back to the basics...i.e. basic good customer service, interpersonal skills, humility and empathy towards others...they aren't robots yet and need to realise that this is the way it could be going and will need to be looking for another job! Loyalty means nothing these days either, I have been loyal to one major brand for the last 25-30 years and only just recently I found out that my loyalty has meant nothing so I've gone to a different brand ..this is what happens! So completely understand your frustration Wayne, hope you get and find the car you want from someone who gives a damn!
Next time I really recommend mentally rehearsing how you would like it to go. Imagining the warm welcome, maybe being offered a coffee, perhaps an excellent deal etc and really believing that you deserve that treatment. I know this can be triggering for some, but it truly is an outward expression of how we feel inside. These people are playing a role in our lives. Which ironically is supposed to help us to choose differently. Choose to love ourselves even more. Having said that, it might be that you need to find a new garage that matches your lovely energy. You may well already feel the negative energy of this one that doesn’t jive with you? Going in and browsing before committing, you’re basically sensing if they’re right for you. Interviewing them on an energetic level. You are a beautiful soul and you deserve the best. ❤

Reminds me of the movie Pretty Woman. I say, go to a diff dealership, buy the one you want, go back to that dealership, show it off and maybe have a word with the manager. That manager could increase his bottom line with hungrier ,smarter salespeople. Sometimes in sales you have to plant "seeds".. and spend time UNpaid...to develop trust, respect and likeability. Its not just the ONE sale, its about a lifetime of sales PLUS referrals.

Wayne, look up the next closest dealership online and give them a try. Our local dealership for the brand of car we drive is really bad. We had to drive two hours to buy our car but we were treated very nicely. I am so glad I didn't give my business to the local dealer. I love your channel. ♥
I haven't got to the end of your story, Wayne, but you made me laugh when, after cancelling the car, on the following morning you decided to go for it. I find that early mornings and late nights are my "weakness moments", phases of the day during which I've noticed I'm more likely to make purchases that are not strictly necessary.

Oh my gosh, what a game changer
cottage cheese flatbread pizza
so delicious, it felt like I was cheating
1 cup cottage cheese
2 eggs
1/8 cup parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic
Blend until smooth
Pour on parchment lined, baking sheet
bake for 40 minutes at 400°
After baking let cool for 5-10 minutes
Add pizza sauce mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, black olives
Bake 4 to 5 minutes until cheese is melte

Buying a car is a privilege that most of us would love to enjoy, and somehow, we rarely do get to enjoy. No matter how much research you do and how prepared you go in, it's an all-day pain in the a**. You leave feeling cheated, abused and dissapointed AND that's the best case scenario. We've had cars with deposits taken sold out from under us, being ignored due to appearance, high pressure nincompoops, and all of the dealer hijinx over the years, too! Yuck!

As someone who works in a dealership, car salesman are money mad and they think they are above other staff. Ten years from now, they won’t have their jobs because the future is online sales. They need to realise how expendable they are. Admin staff will always be needed, service staff will always be needed. Salesmen? Nope.

We have bought our last 6 BMMs and negotiated each one via email with different dealerships. My husband does this every single time. Refuses to waste our valuable time sitting and going back and forth all day for weekend after weekend. It has worked very well.

I feel very fortunate that I have had the pleasure of working with professionals when I bought my last few cars. Toyota and BMW in Minnesota have been fantastic. I’ve worked with men and women salespeople and received stellar treatment. I was buying used every time too. Never dismissed or disrespected. I’m sorry someone had to make their very poor attitude your problem.
Wayne, we all have had issues with a car sales person. You want that car so bad, call the nice guy and work out a deal. I watched you go thru it with that car and a car for your mom. I live in the USA, sometimes we have to go out of area to find a better deal. I assume that place is your only choice?

Said he had to "talk to his manager" He came back , no deal. I walked out, looked at the manager and said, "You lost an excellent Customer" I'd been doing business with them for TEN freaking years! 🤬

What kills me is that unless he owns the dealership he should be fired. You should call and report him to the manager or owner. That behavior is unacceptable in an employee. (Well, it's unacceptable in anyone, but it's unfair if the owner has no idea that they have an employee who is costing them the sales with this behavior.)
