Giorgi can hit with her, but Bartys serve is the difference. I thought Giorgi had a chance. In her prior matches, she was pounding the ball pretty well.
If Giorgi would take a little bit off her strokes and just get the ball in she'd have a much better chance. Every shot is a winner speed for her lol. Don't get me wrong cause I love the tenacity, but it leads to a lot of self inflicted errors.

This is where Giorgi struggles someone like Barty with so much variety and with how consistent she is can throw off Giorgi’s rhythm and draw errors, well done Champ, I love Barty!

Barty is ready to win Australian open, winning Wimbledon seems to have raised her level to another gear, her confidence in her game and preparation , into the tournament has been excellent but she has to take nothing for granted .

I am proud of you, Barty! Keep it short and sweet. And Giorgi is no pushover. She may be small in stature but her ground strokes are strong and solid AND she's a very good defender. This could've been a dangerous seed for Barty.
At least Giorgi can say she’s the first player this tournament not to be bageled or breadsticked by Barty.
At least Giorgi can't say the crowd was disrespectful as they are in the men's side.

Ash’s game is Clijsters + Henin + Amelie. Strong all around.
If there is one player who can stop Barty in her tracks it's Sakkari. Despite the fact Barty is 4-1 all-time against Sakkari, the last time both players met was in the U.S. Open round of 32 back in 2019. Times have changed and Sakkari is a much more mature player than she was 2 to 3 years ago.
Now, that Giorgi is able for a normal handshake, I like to watch her playing. Her speed to play and to move enable her to beat any opponent theoretically. But 100% in any hit without reduction and adaption to the situation .... Barty played it cool with better selection of her waepons.

They always do that. If you see a first serve fault on the highlight. Expect to see the double fault.
Barty doesn't beat herself, Giorgi had her moments but Bartys consistency won out.

Now that Barty has retired from the Pro Tour, Giorgi has a good chance to climb higher in the world rankings.

Giorgi is only number 30 or so. No way she can ever beat someone as solid player, but she's quick, very aggresive (probably too much) and evidently much more good looking. BTW... She's a very skinny pretty woman, but seems too skinny for ever being at the top ten. She looks great but she doesn't look friendly at all. She's hot but unattractive.
