  • In 1976, the release of Klaatu's album 3:47 EST sparked controversy as fans and journalists speculated that the band might actually be The Beatles in disguise. Despite the eerie resemblance in sound, it turned out that Klaatu was actually a faceless Canadian band consisting of John Woloschuk, Dee Long, and Terry Draper. This mysterious case of mistaken identity caused a frenzy among Beatlemaniacs who eagerly searched for clues of the Fab Four's return. Columbia Records fueled the speculation, but the truth behind Klaatu's music was much more down to earth.

This band has almost nothing in common with the Beatles sound. How anyone thought so - especially so soon after the Beatles - is beyond my comprehension.

On many tracks the production was Beatlesque but the only song that came close, IMO, was 'Sub Rosa Subway'. The vocal was really close to McCartney. Other than that it was underwhelming.
