- The Spur track after Billy Goats track is very steep and a lot more slippery. We find a crashed ute. Find lots of creek crossings. Missed a turn that I swear is hiding. And eventually find our way back to Dargo.
I checked the Amarok rego on Vicroads site, it was cancelled on 13th Jan 2024, so it arrived there a bit earlier than that.
Thanks for the info. I may well just become part of the track now.
you've changed everyones life with that information thank you so much
It was me and my mates that rolled that amarok start of jan 2024. Was a hell of a crash, i guess its what happens when a bunch of young blokes with no idea try and go 4wding. Was honestly just using google maps to go sightseeing had no plans of going down such a rough track 🤣
Dam man i bet it was one hell of a ride. Did you ever get it recovered.
Great vid guys..laid back Aussie humour too😂 20g of protien.....I'm on the other side of the border in NSW on the edge of the high country...just picked up a KTM exc....cant wait to get out there...👍
That's so cool. Hope you enjoy the new bike. Such a great place to ride. And your not to far away.
Ive ridden these tracks on my wr450. That Black Range track was always a hoot. The Junction Spur track was a challange to go up last time I did it, about 10 years ago but looks to be in poor condition now. We usually went up Trails Track from the Dargo road, up to the Pinnacles and down Billy Goats. UP Conways, Hibernia Rd over toGradys Creek and back to Dargo... All ripper fun tracks. It was great watching this, brought back so many memories. I wonder what the story is behind the smashed ute...
Geez going up the spur. I mean im crazy enough to give it a go. But would have been one hell of a challenge when we went through. It got so steep and slippery i did not dare get on the pegs in some spots. Figured if i slipped i would not stop 🤣🤣
Great riding with you , brings back memories of 35 years ago on bikes and 4x4s
Thanks mate Keeping the dream alive.
great vids guys sore arms after that ride
I think my knee and shoulder were not loving me enough to not worry about the arms. 😁😁😁🤙
Good stuff lads 👌
Man i wish our cameras could show how steep the hills are. It was an interesting ride. And not knowing where you are going to end up half the time makes it interesting. Cheers
I'm guessing due to holes in disc brake a stone got stuck and locked wheel up ,
Check back through the comments 1 or 2 the actual driver commented. Ask him.
Phill could have at least landed in the puddle a bit more :) another good watch thanks Simo.
Ha ha that's just mean but funny. ill let him know for future reference :-)
Did that exact same route in Feb in My ranger. Pretty Hairy going. Amarok was there then.
Yes i think it may be one of those far to expensive to recover type arrangement's. I could imagine that track would be wild to do in a 4wd. Were you going up or down ?
@simovision5894 we were coming down. We took Scrubby Creek track back up. Thats was knarly made Billy Goats look like a park bike track.
be near impossible to recover
Dam man I saw scrubby creek track. The tracks in that area are crazy steep. And yes agreed I think Billy Goats gets a good wrap but there are so many other tracks that are a lot harder.
I was thinking a Elvis chopper would get it done. But who would pay for that. I'm thinking it will stay there forever.
good job well done /// been some time for me honda xr 250 twin carb new at the time lol
Wow sounds like you need to swing a leg over again. And feel that rush of EXCITEMENT 🤙
Thanks for watching
It’s funny , went it from the top in my vb commodore 20 years ago . Azza from east Ringwood
What the actual F. That would have been mental, how did you even get on that track in a VB commodore. Or was it more of a usable track back then. Cause there is no way in hell you would get it out in the condition its in now. 😱
@@simovision5894 , true story , maybe 91 , pumped up back suspension, Mt Terrible - camping, mate from upper Yarra , deer hunting / trout fishing , started the track …. And couldn’t turn around once got going . Made it down and thru Warburton back home , 👍
Side note - pulled up to woods point servo with dueling banjos playing ..🤣, and 2 blokes walked outta pub with rifles from hunting and as 28 year olds was a spin out - 51 now . Good times ( earlier trip )

wow mate that would have been one hell of a ride. Very cool I'm sure I would have jumped in with you if I was there.
Hello, your videos are awesome.... what maps app are you using on phone please?
We have tried a few. But everyone i know has all moved to or only ever used GAIA. If going remote we always have a Garmin or similar as back up. These gps devices you would think should be accurate all the time they have enough satellites but we have been led up the garden path a few times as they tend to lack road and track detail.
Being a non-native, looking for a little history. In the track that the 4x4 was rolled...how and why was that track built...was it a military road, a foresty road for fire fighting? How old are these tracks? I see many with the birms acroaa them and know that is for run off during rain. Were many of these built as travel through the bush to get to another settlement....built by private or goverment...by road equipment or manually? Back to the 4x4 roll...would that track ever be graded?....Thanks for the history of those great tracks, and another great ride. Garth
well that's some very good questions. So many tracks run through the high country. There seems to be a storey behind areas and some certain tracks. Some of the locals you talk to can tell you a storey or 2 but I'm sure if you have the time to dig for the information you may find some interesting answers. Let me know if you find anything out.
Thanks Simo
Luke Steenhuis has a few books of this Aberfeldy area history and other high country areas.
Interesting to see what you turn up. If you find a good story let us know.
Haha, where not technically native either. I think the tracks when originally made for cattle drovers and I don’t think it will get graded as that will take the fun out of them!
that be a good ride on quad bike
Wow never thought of that. Cool idea
That Amarok was there in late January (2024) when we drove past it. Not sure when this was filmed.
About 22 February i believe. Based on that it mite live there now. To hard or expensive to recover
Simo , good vid . Could I ask what maps you are using -Gaia ?
yes mate Gaia it seems to be the easiest one to use. and it works off line as well. I use a spare phone for the mapping and leave my main phone in my bag for safety. For time when i like to crash on solid rock on a helli pad. :-) Cause going over the edge is not optional. Thanks mate
"Ya rekn he's rolled down the hill"?
Nahhh.. looks like he rolled up the hill!
Man he came down hard. Bit hard to see but the entire underneath of the right side was caved in by the tree. Would have been one hell of a ride and he was probably lucky the tree stopped him before the car got a good run up and kept going. The camera dose not really show it but that section is very steep and slippery rock.
@simovision5894 Poor buggers. A great day can turn out bad really quickly up there. Safe travels mate.
Thanks mate. and your not wrong. just see my vid before this one where I crashed on the Helli pad. Now that Hurt !!!!!
Was that into Lee Ceek? Killeen climb?
It was right on the spur track. Coming off castle hill track. On the map it says 70mt rock face very steep. They were not joking 😁
13:11 Most aussie thing you could say
Ha ha ha had to go back and check it out. Thats funny.🤙
0:54 big Mac then ye
Ha Ha good one Cliff yes but could not find any big mac's :-)😁
