Hi Elizabeth. This is your cousin Lowell, your Uncle Richard's son. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Self Discipline! It made think about about a few things. Appreciate your courage to go through this journey!

Succinctly, indeed loving, put TED talk on self-discipline.

I like to say that "Discipline isn't a four-letter word" as a cheeky way of avoiding it. A gnarly, self-sabotaging habit.

Thank you, Elizabeth! I have lived with guilt, shame, and people pleasing for almost my whole life. Years of therapy and I still do the same things. Your explanation was eye-opening and a fresh breath of air. It gives me hope.

Alot of truth bombs here- thank you ! " Shame will never give you a beautiful life" & cultivating curiosity of yourself- love it. thank you

🤣 truth bombs is right! "Shame will never give you a beautiful life" is IMO one of the strongest truths in her talk ❣️

The message of self-love resonates so much better than self-discipline. I already feel so much calmer about reaching my goals for myself by changing my thinking about self-love vs. self-discipline.

Currently 20 years old with similar struggles to be who I was meant to. I believe I was ashamed to growing up and now that I’m learning and finding myself again. These things have been coming up like crazy.

I like your use of curious vs. shame. I'm a highly sensitive person that ended up in a police department, and assigned to an officer that toys with the emotions of HSPs. First of all, I didn't know what I was, so I didn't know how to defend myself. Secondly, he used public shaming (over the police scanner, which then, was also public) to embarrass me. He would pit me against the other cops because I'm a quiet person. (Very much an introvert.) For 30 years after the events; the humiliation I was put through haunted me, and I was only there for 4 years. He pursued me even after he got me fired, and I never stopped running. I had to leave my home state. I was so ashamed that I didn't know how to get out of the situation, but even worse, that I allowed myself to be in that situation in the first place. I discipline myself now to follow a plan, and not my emotions, but I still have to work through shame and fear. I heard about you from Kathryn Calhoun. She gave a challenge to make an offer for a program; and I failed to do that for the past 2 years even though I'm ready to market. Your talk was very nice to hear. I need to turn shame into curiosity so I can move forward.

God loves you and takes care of you so that this message reaches you. The biggest loss that any human being loses in this life is to live and die while he does not know who created him, and he is God, and he does not know the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions, nor the Messenger of God, Muhammad, and he is the last of the prophets of great intelligence before you believe Something or not to believe in it is to read it, study it and understand it well, and then you can judge it. I hope that you do that before you do not have time to do that, and I wish you success from God. He is the one who controls everything. You just have to work
