Its good to see young people taking Martial Arts and teaching others. I am 39 years old and love learning things from young masters like this. Keep up the good work.
Enjoyed your video, guys! Especially the head butt ending. HA. I'm 67 now but when I too Taekwondo in my 30's, I enjoyed breaking single boards that I held in front of me with my left hand and dropped before I launched my strike with my right hand. It introduced the need for precision timing to the routine in order to hit the board in the best spot. Plus there was nothing holding the board to push back with any resistance to help you break it. This meant you had to generate enough speed to create sufficient force to essentially power through the board all by yourself. But when it was done right, it produced an awesome looking break. Often I would literally punch the board so hard that a center section would rip out of the board and fly 20 or 30 feet across the room. The other two side pieces would simply fall to the floor. The way to learn to do that is to practice by dropping a sheet from a newspaper and learning to punch a nice clean hole through it. If you can do that, you can break a dropped board. Newspaper is so flexible and light that you really have to be able to focus all your energy on one single spot to punch through it.
Do traditional conditioning and makiwara and you will break board fine. Thats all you need to know. If you dont condition then there is little point breaking boards or trying to break stuff.
I bought a real wood and it took me several puches to break it though my hands are strong , some how it look fake it always break smoothly from the centre.

I saw a old lady being beaten by three kids but i remember the lesson from this video so without hesitation i jump in and help now the old lady have no chance against the 4 of us
I also added breaking a board upside down with two strong dojo brothers holding each leg. This is not to show how good you are but to train your body to remain in centerline when in a difficult fighting position. If you try this, try focusing on your centerline and I promise it is an eye opening experience. You have to use your centerline to break the board(s) and it teaches you where that centerline is.
It honestly depends 100/ on ur teacher and style for both tae-kwon-do and karate. A lot of the kicks look similar though. But IDK I only do tae-kwon-do
Tanner Stewart The Korea martial arts came from different village's throughout Korea. And were made to counter the Chinese invasion and later the Japanese Samurai. A example if you look at jujitsu throws the Korea's have direct counter's to the jujitsu throws. And I was in kuk sool won a Korean martial art. I saw how one of the fighting form's I was taught was countered by a jujitsu forum with effective counter aggression. Not to mention the flexibility and fluid motion that's in kun fu practicing with somebody that has been trained in kung fu is like fight a bird and Monkey at the same time very very agile art. But we're all apart of the martial arts family now. Except for your occasional bad apples.
Most of the time the main difference is tae kwon do tends to favor kicking. Most styles of karate rarely kick above the waist (there are exceptions though).
not much. these boards are extremely easy to break. they are designed to break. thats why the grain is the way it is. i was in martial arts when i was a kid and could brake boards at 7 lol.
What i understand from this is the position itself so you should train at least years to master the position also its like arm wrestling you got a position you could beat big guys and Even strong one so its all about position and some strength in it and you could be dangrous and strong you know its not easy to break a wood unless you have raw power thats a different matter Sorry for the long massege
No I am in karate, I understand the physics in it you have to learn the timing and the right spot to hit the board sometimes if you hit it in a bad spot the board will give the same force back if you hit it in the wrong place It's like a brick wall u don't have enough force to hit it the brick wall will bring the same force back to you So at first in karate yes it will hurt because you never done it and it will also give you bruses I sprained my hand once when I was a yellow belt I'm a brown belt now After a while it will become better you just have to learn the Physics of hitting the board You are welcome
Breaking boards is a gimmick. I practice Taekwondo for 11 years. It's really over there to build confidence. First of all they don't use Oak they only use pine which is very weak and if you always look at where the strike hits or the hands are that are holding it or how it's set up you're always hitting it to split the grain. If you go against the grain you're going to break your hand or make your knuckles bleed. It's not Magic or highly trained skill that it takes to break boards. You should know how to punch that is true or how to kick but I can teach a 3 year old to break a board in about 1 hour. No one has to be a high-ranking belt to break a bored. And all my years in the martial arts studying Taekwondo and Aikido I always thought that this is the one gimmick trick that everyone gets hype about. Kind of like the magician's trick, until you know how to do it
Haha make sure the board is pointing down and the boards just touch the edges of the bricks.. To essentially make it easier to break. A pointless exercise as it doesn't mean someone has a powerful punch. And boards don't hit back... I want to see them break a tree. Lol
Axe Bolt I'm sorry, I didn't realize you have trained traditional shotokan for 12 years and competed and won in world tournaments, board breaking is for application of technical form, the thicker and more boards you stack you get a tougher goal, a goal for your technique. For ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction, if the board is not broken it hits you back has hard as you hit it, newtons law, I took the year long sensei certification course under Christopher Canada sensei and have reached the rank of third dan black belt, what qualifies you to question weather or not I am a true sensei you claim karate is for self defense, that may be true for hapkido but karate today is a sport and a traditional art form, self defense is merely an aspect
A punching bag does not punch back either, but is still used to practice. You don't have to fight a person every single time you practice shotokan karate or any other form of martial art.
We use boards breaking to demonstrate that we have learned proper techniques that could break bones. If you were a true sensei you would already know this. Very nice video. Thank you. Be always present on the battlefield!
Breaking boards doesn't demonstrate practical fighting technique or issuance of power. It's demonstrating two principles of physics - impulse and momentum. But it's by no means an actual martial art technique. Hitting bags and makiwara makes more sense and are more traditional forms of training for power issuance. Because you want something solid that provides resistance against your strikes, not something that will snap and cave upon impact. There's a reason why boxers don't bother breaking boards or tiles; it's an irrelevant parlour trick.

your hands are strong, but your aim soks :)))
@@bca-biciclindcuaxel7527 well I made a crack on the walk and my hand are bleeding I'm weak
You have to look at the direction of the grain the way the grain was in the video makes it super easy to break

currently doing screenplay research, this was useful! thanks!

bro this was unexpected
LOVED IT MAN! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK FOR SURE!!
Thank you so much!! For the tips I need these tips for my next karate lessons😀😀😀😊😊😊
Great video. As wooden spacers, paint stirrers do nicely and they don't need to be sanded down.
Where can i get those boards?
Break it against the grain 😏
Let's see you do it or hell a stone slab
Stop acting cool 😎
I break 1 × 1/2 inch against the grain with palm. If your palm doesn't hurt a bit, your not advancing. These boards are easy.
@@Syngeman You're hard
@@rosscarroll6735 😆 I do test them , if it is just a bit to much I hurt myself
Dam Robby Keene teaching us the ways
It would be more interesting to see a board hit across the grain
That's what I've been waiting for haha

Keep up the practice 👍👍✊✊
This is so badass
Congrats on 1K likes
Can you guys try concrete tiles they are more fun also how about fist breaking ?
How to learn the first step
For the beginners ?
First you have to be sure it's useful for your purposes.
First try with thin wood tablets.
Hello i have a question does it hurt
time to test it on my grandmas head
That's epic
How can I buy this wood,
Woww
The only thing im gonna break is my fist
So basically how I’ve always looked at it is pretend the dude you wanna punch is behind the board so you gotta break the board and keep going
Just broke 5 1 inch boards with hammer fist
Videoor didn't happen lmao
I just tried breaking a board of wood took me a few attempts but eventually got it first time doing something like this 😅
Nice! Thanks guys, this is Awesome!
You are the best, mate.
Do you have to be strong to break a board?
I’m doing a downward palm hell with two boards at my tournament
Current red belt in Tae Kwon Do who’s interested is karate. I understand it’s different but how different?
It honestly depends 100/ on ur teacher and style for both tae-kwon-do and karate. A lot of the kicks look similar though. But IDK I only do tae-kwon-do

Muay Thai is better.
good job boys. excellent video. great set of legit skills
Rotate the wooden slabs 90 degrees and try again 😂😂
Yea! Turn it and break it when the grain of the wood isn't easy to break
@@baychevy5105 Yeah that's what he said

How many pounds of force does it take to break 4 boards
not much. these boards are extremely easy to break. they are designed to break. thats why the grain is the way it is. i was in martial arts when i was a kid and could brake boards at 7 lol.
lindseyhunt1090-GarageB you most likely had a center pop board. Not the same
With spacers, not a lot. Would probably break if you just stood on it.
You need to be a godan (5th dan) black belt to do it maybe
i am a black belt in taekwondo and alot of things dont hit back but we still use them
Try not breaking the board, it will hit back :)
I really wish there was a shoto kahn place in lafayette
Can you do concrete
U notice they only break the wood when the grain is running a curtain direstion
at my school we right a goal on the back of the board and when we break the board it reperzents us breaking the goal
Nice
5:55 doing the dab
Instructions unclear
I broke both my hands
I do karate I’m a camouflage belt on that belt I. Sparring
I wonder what dos it deals with self defence.
I wonder if you can breaks 2x6
Why are there different boards between 3:26 and 3:29 🤔
Same thing occurs between 5:00 and 5:03. 🤔 And 3:50 and 3:53 🤔
Dang nice eye
Best
How does it not hurt?
Rotate that stack of boards 90° and none of us will be able to break it
i cant do any of these due to me being in glasses
I have broken 4 together
The boards are basically balsam wood
You should join Cobra kai
Lets see u do that with some oak boards. I can snap those boards with my hands
Why isn’t Fighting super-effective against Grass? Or at the very least that Brick Break is super-effective?
Turn the board the other way and let's see what happens
Does it hurt
Jaden Alvardo it can I just hurt my hand today at a tournament because I didn’t hit it right and the board just absorbed all my energy
No
Alot of boards are made to break easily.
How do they always break it in literally the center with a straight line

what’s the point of breaking these? honest question lol
I am ushu black belt
I tried doing the technique to my legs, so now my legs hurt.
Do you feel hurt?
What hurts the most in my opinion is the feeling on your foot as it go though the board. Or getting splinters.
A lot or boards are easy to break.
you dont feel pain while breaking a board
No I am in karate, I understand the physics in it you have to learn the timing and the right spot to hit the board sometimes if you hit it in a bad spot the board will give the same force back if you hit it in the wrong place
It's like a brick wall u don't have enough force to hit it the brick wall will bring the same force back to you

After a while it will become better you just have to learn the Physics of hitting the board

Bro now I am in good in breaking the board first time when I was trying to break I scared but now good in breaking the boards
Canada school of karate can anyone join
Why I don't have this kind of strong boyfriend 💔
You need to scream to avoid the pain???? I am wondering that
not to avoid the pain, but screaming or the "kiai" induces adrenaline which will increase strength to ensure that the boards break
Thank you
It can also reduce the pain if you do it while being hit, it contracts your diaphragm and helps you absorb the shock.
Pumps u up
so i tried it and you won’t believe what happened
it break
my bone broke i am in hospital now
Boards... Don’t hit back.
Look at his hair on 5:07

I’m sorry but you look very soft with the pony tail
Weak. You always break it along the fiber. Try breaking two boards with the fibers placed perpendicularly to one another.

Dude. Clean your toe nails...
0/10 - tried it with a damp piece of 5 ply ply wood and broke my knuckle
Why do you do a weird grunt after every time you guys break a board? It seems kinda useless
Grunting gives you more power. You see boxers all the time go *"sss, sss"* when they punch because it generates more power.
I think it's patched oh well time to go watch kick in It
Haha make sure the board is pointing down and the boards just touch the edges of the bricks.. To essentially make it easier to break. A pointless exercise as it doesn't mean someone has a powerful punch. And boards don't hit back...

Totally useless Like Bruce Lee said. "Boards dont hit back"
Mr miyagi sed that to
I have a real iron palm hands,. I can see your hands are very thin and soft
Do u though?
if u was a true karate sensei you wouldn't fight against a board because boards don't fight back karate is for defense and boards don't fight back
