In search of golden monkeys | Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

For those who, like us, can't afford the gorillas in Rwanda ($1500... ouch), there is still the alternative of going to see the Golden Monkeys (Cercopithecus), charming primates. The visit is expensive ($100), but still more affordable and gives you an hour with these charming little creatures. The walk to find them varies, but is normally easy as the golden monkeys live at low altitude, close to the bamboo forests. It's a great experience for the whole family, with children or elderly people able to walk a few kilometres.
