When they showed him in 8 Mile walking down the corridor then the camera scanned over to the live feed....HOLY $HIT I literally "lost myself in the moment".. it was the real Slim Shady. I jumped out of bed, cranked up the volume (woke up the hubby, oh well 😂) and started dancing and belting out the lyrics!! All of a sudden I almost forgot how I have severe anxiety, major depression and a need to isolate myself in my room 24/7. He definitely was definitely making my medication work for me last night (my meds r ONLY prescribed, but I take about 14 pills daily just for those issues)!! He's be a fan fave of mine since HS. ZEUS how do you know they pick the nominees without discrimination? If the majority of nominees are male and white does that mean that people with other ethnicities and women are simply not good enough? No its just proves that the judges follow a deeply rooted socialeconomical pattern of favoring white straight males.
It's actually not based on who's "best" at all. It's about which films have the best campaigning and funding. The Oscars is all about gatekeeping. They favour movies which feature certain topics (WWII, Hollywood, shallow race allegories) and they leave out many objectively better films. Knives Out, Uncut Gems, The Farewell, Last Black Man in San Francisco and many more were snubbed this year which were very deserving of a nomination. Greta Gerwig was inexplicably not included in the Best Director category even though she demonstrated immense directorial talent with Little Women which could match any of the nominated directors. It's not about merit at all. Parasite was one of the best films of the decade and it had to cross insurmountable odds to win best picture.
I still remember that night watching the Oscar’s and I was like this is one of the worst ones I’ve seen so far and I was like please let something good happen and I was about to give up and tune out when Eminem came on and I was up and screaming and singing along and just like “he’s back!!!” I was so happy because that performance made up for everything and yeah.
Instead of blaming the Academy for not having any female nominations, we should encourage more women directors to take up movies. There are less women directors in general and hence that reduces the chances of them getting nominated. Not everything is against women :)

It was diversity in nominees for the awards not in the award show itself. If the awards only acknowledge white actors when there are plenty of excellent POC performances then there isn't enough diversity. Throwing some diversity into the show itself to try and cover that up doesn't fix the fact they snubbed POC performances.

If the majority of nominees are male and white does that mean that people with other ethnicities and women are simply not good enough? No its just proves that the judges follow a deeply rooted socialeconomical pattern of favoring white straight males.
It's actually not based on who's "best" at all. It's about which films have the best campaigning and funding. The Oscars is all about gatekeeping. They favour movies which feature certain topics (WWII, Hollywood, shallow race allegories) and they leave out many objectively better films. Knives Out, Uncut Gems, The Farewell, Last Black Man in San Francisco and many more were snubbed this year which were very deserving of a nomination. Greta Gerwig was inexplicably not included in the Best Director category even though she demonstrated immense directorial talent with Little Women which could match any of the nominated directors. It's not about merit at all. Parasite was one of the best films of the decade and it had to cross insurmountable odds to win best picture.

I still remember that night watching the Oscar’s and I was like this is one of the worst ones I’ve seen so far and I was like please let something good happen and I was about to give up and tune out when Eminem came on and I was up and screaming and singing along and just like “he’s back!!!” I was so happy because that performance made up for everything and yeah.

Instead of blaming the Academy for not having any female nominations, we should encourage more women directors to take up movies. There are less women directors in general and hence that reduces the chances of them getting nominated. Not everything is against women :)

It was diversity in nominees for the awards not in the award show itself. If the awards only acknowledge white actors when there are plenty of excellent POC performances then there isn't enough diversity. Throwing some diversity into the show itself to try and cover that up doesn't fix the fact they snubbed POC performances.
@@SohiHien it's actually disrespectful to the real nominees. Do great work and the revenue and awards will follow. Support the work you believe in and encourage others to as well and it will succeed. Whining what you liked is better than what was nominated is childish and isn't going to change the history of how the art was perceived initially. If it's a legitimate problem maybe POC should start their own award show, white people will support it.

There are amazing POC involved in movie making and they deserve to be acknowledged in these award shows too. I can just imagine the hate that would happen if they tried to make a POC only awards.
