This is just brilliant, Sam! I'm Canadian and am sixty, yet I have never seen one of these padded cards. I've seen wedding albums similar to this but that's all. I absolutely LOVE it and how precious is that, that you have those keepsakes from your Granny! Thanks, so much for sharing...you are incredibly creative, my dear!
Wow last night I found two of these from when I was 21 - Im 71 on Thursday! How amazing to come across this today.
I still have all the Satin Padded cards my late husband and I sent to each other in the 1960's. I wish we could still buy them in the stores. They are fantastic.
Oh wow, makes me feel old!! I can remember them so well. Neat idea Sam. Bring back the padded cards, I love it.
I like the look of your padded cards! Those are fabulous! Something very new to me. thanks for sharing this new style card! God bless!!!

Lovely throwback to the old days and crafting. Brilliant!

Thank you for sharing that, they brought back so many memories I used to get them as a child, I don’t think I have any anymore
TY for a trip down memory lane. I remember these in the states as Valentine Day cards when I was still a child. I am thinking that thin batting would work if there are any quilters watching who have scraps in their stash. I know that I do. I might give this a go. :-)
Looks like a flocked lining. I'll have to look out for something like it.
I remember getting padded cards, they were lovely. Great tutorial x
What a beautiful way to start the Christmas workshop. I love the card so much. I can not wait for another year of your fabulous Christmas Cards
Oh..I have some of those old cards too.. brought back memories..I never thought to show them off! Great idea
Have to try one of these. I am also in the USA and have never seen them despite being around a substantial number of years more then your fifty year old cards!
Very interesting. And a very pretty card. Tfs your video.
Oh well goodness! Your Nan had such a lovely relationship with your grandfather-she must have many treasured memories! I have never seen a card like this in the States, but I’ll certainly give it a try. Thank you!
Such a fantastic idea and you presented it very nicely...beautiful cards and I'm for sure going to my Dollar Store and make some padded cards.....tfs
Love It!!! Brilliant Game Changer!!!***Thanks for the share
This brought back memories of childhood 😊. Excellent tutorial, thank you so much. Merry Christmas 🎄
I still have a few padded cards my father sent my mother many years ago, how lovely.🥰💕💕xx
Hi Sam....this card is so cute...I love it...tfs
Brought back some memories.
Wow Sam, what a beautiful and easy card to make. I am going to share this idea with my card making buddy's. They will love it. Thank you for a great idea. Julia Cassidy from Nottingham
What a lovely card and a marvelous tutorial...you never cease to amaze me with your creativity...
Thank you Barbara :)
Hi Sam, always loved getting these cards and so easy to make too! thanks for the idea Sam x
I love these cards! They are beautiful!
The term you are looking for is is a “flocked” tablecloth. This is definitely going on my to do list. Thank you!
Yes Flocked or Flannel are the ones you want. 😀
Great stuff ! Got a small oddment of Christmas fabric the other week. Idea was to do a padded square in the middle and emboss the 'frame' .Not enough for whole cards but this will help me out lots ! Love your card, thanks for sharing.
I love that and I remember that too ! So cool ! Thanks for sharing ❤️
We used to make picture frames like this! I've never seen the cards, but I sure want to try it. I'll have my eye out for the right materials! Thank you for the great inspiration!
I remember these padded cards. These are beautiful and easy to make. Thanks for bringing it back showing how easy and quick we can make these.
That's a kewl idea! Love it!
This is awesome! I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before! Going to have to try!
WOW, what a great take on an a padded card. I remember getting a couple when I was young, you don't see them anymore. It's such a Fab idea, still got a few more cards to make and using this idea would definitely be different. So THANK YOU. Happy Crafting. Xxx 💖💝 💗
I remember those cards !!! Great tutorial
Omg. I used to love getting a padded card when I was younger, such a blast from the past. Love your take on them. Tfs xxx
Beautiful cards Sam x
Fantastic cards 👏👏
Wow, I remember those type of cards. You know someone loved you if you got one of those!
I have never seen a musical one like you Nan had.
Thank you, Gill, she has quite a few musical ones but many of them have stopped working, so this one is extra special to me. :)
See, this is how good you are at crafting. Using a table cloth and cooker hood wading to make a card. Genius!! Love it. Great card 🎄 x
Those cards are awesome!!
Really cool and adorable. Denise
I remember seeing cards like this as a child they are so adorable. I’m so glad you’re doing this
Love the card. Great
Hi Sam, thank you for showing me an alternative way of making a silk padded card that I was trying to make and asked you for your assistance with a while back a good alternative thank you
Amazing! The hood filter material for padding is genius! Here in the States JoAnn Fabric has costume satin that is fairly cheap ($1-2 a yard) that would be lovely for this card. I've never seen padded cards either and I'm sure I'm older than you are lol! Keep up the good work, I LOVE watching your tutorials. You always bring us such unique (and wonderful) projects :)
Love this idea. Will try with Christmas material I have. Thanks for idea
I remember getting some cards like that when I was little, shame I didn't keep them as they are lovely. Can't wait to try. Thanks again Sam for bringing a wonderful style card back.
So pretty love them x
How beautiful these are
I have never seen or heard of these types of cards! They are so lovely...will have to try making some. Thankyou for teaching us something new!
I love it! I need to stop watching your vlogs because I want to rush out and buy every thing I need to copy your project 😉!
So neat. I love it!
Oh I remember them! Totally forgot about them!
Lovely revamp of a traditional card decoration... Good idea for any special occasion..thank you for sharing :))
This is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing it with us! Your projects never disappoint! I even have a Sam Clayton folder in my bookmarks because you are my first go to when making a project! Hope you have a great day!
Ahhh thank you Tracey 😘😘😘
How lovely.
Love this idea and i remember those padding cards such a good take on them amazing xx
I have never Sean a fabric card like that here in my life. That is really pretty! Very unique. Thank you for sharing
Love the cards, Beautiful. You are using a flannel back tablecloth. We quilters use them for our designs on the wall because fabric sticks to it without using pins. I am new to your channel and so far I am loving all of your designs, Great work.
Thank you Gina & welcome 😀
What a totally unique card idea!!! Just love it! I've never seen anything like this before and I can't wait to find the materials to create my own. Thanks for sharing this wonderful idea!
WOW 😮 This is just amazing . What a beautiful way to make that card extra special . Just love this Tutorial. Thank you for sharing this very easy to make card 😊
Fabulous way to recreate these classics, I used to work in a card shop and these were only available at Christmas! Def will give this a go for that special occasion. Can't wait to see what others come up with on Mixed Up Crafters Sam, TFS 😘
This is awesome! I enjoyed seeing the vintage cards too! LOVE your channel!
Beautiful cards! Such a creative idea! They make a lovely display! Great tutorial! TFS
I love this idea - shame that I have finished making my Xmas cards! I make small silk paintings for special occasions, and mount them to cards. I've always used expensive quilting wadding, but will try the filters next time. Thanks for the idea - with no cooker hood, I'd never have found them!
Love how you made this! I still have a couple of padded cards from when I was little. This would be adorable just on a frame. Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Beautifully made. I have lots of these cards also. Thank you for sharing a great idea xxx
I love these cards I remember getting when I was a lil girl birthday or Communion
Love this and remember when my dad gave them to my mum xx FYI The Range have a selection of "Flannel backed tablecloths" which might be ok to use.
FANNEL! that's the word I was looking for lol!
absolutely gorgeous sam i really love this 😊x
Fabulous
Love watching your tutorials and this one took me back years to this style of special card.
What a beautiful card . I love all you're tutorials .
Hello Sam
That's so clever!
I remember my Dad giving these cards to my Mum😊
A great tutorial I had some of these cards. Thank you for a tutorial.
These are great cards will definitely be having a go at making these, tfs x
What a clever idea ,fantastic for the special person. Love your tutorials,so easy to follow. .looking forward to the rest of the Christmas session. Thanks for sharing.
What a great Tutorial, I remember these cards.
You have some fantastic ideas, love it💖
lovely. My friend and I made some a couple of years ago using the protective sheets that come with some on-line purchases. Not the bubble wrap though!!! Will have to have another go with material now.
I think they call it flannel backed. We have them in Australia.
That is so neat I've never seen a padded card like that and I'm probably way older than you are LOL.
What a brilliant idea, look forward to your Christmas tutorials.
For the padding could you use quilt batting? Cute card.
Hi Mary, they are very similar materials so I would imagine you can, you just want something that's soft and easy to cover. 😀
What a great idea...I’d forgotten about padded cards. Bye for now 💁
In most of the stores here in North America, it would be called a "flannel backed" tablecloth - READILY AVAILABLE at every $$ store !
Loved the card a very unique idea, what material did you make the poinsettia out of
Red and green card stock 😀
Another great tutorial off to search for a tablecloth
I absolutely loved that tutorial !! The cards are elegant yet simple ! Ideal ! Btw, i'm looking to purchase a cutting machine, but I'm a novice when it comes to that. Would anyone have any recommendations ? xx
Thank you, if you would prefer a manual machine then any of the Sizzix range, I have the big shot. If its a electronic your after then the Gemini is very good but I've heard the Cut & Boss is very good too. Take a look on TH-cam to see how these work. 😀
@@MixedUpCraft Thank you very much ! Definitely going to check those out ! xx
