I also think because 3rd house is one's mental processing, which effects absolutely every little thing in one's life. The feeling of "never know what you'll find in the junk drawer" is kind of metaphorical for never knowing exactly what's going on in someone else's mind. Like we only know what's in someone's junk drawer if they pull it out for us. It's a subterranean house that outsiders get to view based on what the native chooses to verbalize/ communicate about.

As someone with a 3H stellium/close conjunction of all my personal planets here, I just want to say how much I appreciate this episode + the fact that it’s literally 8 hrs long. So many astrologers spend very little time on this house, often referring to it as the “junk drawer” or a house with little depth or meaning outside of “communication.” Such a lack of exploration and understanding. Thank you both for this! My 3H stellium is squared by my ruler Saturn sitting in the 12H, so I struggle with wanting to be amongst my local community and wanting to be alone. I’m very close to my siblings, my neighbors are like family. I don’t like driving, and prefer to walk everywhere. I have to live in a walkable neighborhood/urban environment. I love going to my local markets and I’m very popular in my local community (Venus 3H). Third places are my second home. I get depressed if I’m sitting still for too long or can’t move around, or if living in a car dependent area. I oscillate between chatting with strangers and my neighbors on the daily (3H) and being isolated for long periods (12H Saturn square). My siblings are my biggest blessing in life. They’re my support system.
I’m also glad that they shared this deep dive. I have Uranus Neptune and Saturn in my 3rd house and have found most people also glancing over my stellium and feeling like I don’t really know what it means. I can’t wait to dig in!😊

I‘m also a Third Houser (if we can call each other that) and I started doing my own podcast on the Houses earlier this year and I really wanted to give the 3H justice and put it in a different light than the usual more ‚boring‘ things it get‘s attributed too. The third house has always been hard for me to grasp and this has helped immensely. Thank you! A note on Patsy Cline, she was hospitalized as a child with a severe throat infection and is quoted as saying "it was my return to the living after several days that launched me as a singer" because the infection had permanently affected her voice. Interesting since Venus rules the twelfth!

Wow ! You guys are blowing me away. No matter the house system i end up with 4 planets and my s. node in the 3rd house, aquqrius. Saturn at 0 degrees, mercury, jupiter, s.node and moon at 29.59. Im 62 yr old and i wish i could have had an input on this podcast. You gave me so much insite, there was so much did not know about the 3rd house. My asc ruler is in the 3rd.

Good God! Thanks a lot! My third house is pretty loaded: In whole sign houses I have Pluto, SN, Moon and Saturn. In Placidus I have SN, Moon, Saturn and Uranus. Either house system I feel all the positions quite heavily.

For the polyglot (3:43:00) you can look at (Archduke) Otto von Hapsburg. He was the crown prince of the old Austro-Hungarian empire, and was a prominent member of the European Parliament (Brussels) in the 1990s. I had the privilege to meet him then and he was an extraordinary person. He made it his mission to learn every official European language. I think he spoke 12 languages in all (fluently). He has Jupiter conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius in the 3rd house. BTW I’m also an astrologer with the ruler of 3rd house (Virgo/Mercury) in the 9th house of Pisces (ruled by a Mercury-ruled Jupiter in Gemini in the 12th. My earlier career was working in International institutions (9th house), which is how I met von Hapsburg. The other thing indicated by the ruler of the 3rd in the 9th is that one’s sibling is closer to the father than to the native with such a placement. I’m still working my way through this extraordinary episode whenever I get a chance to listen in. It might take all week 😅Thanks for your efforts, Chris and Leisa! 🙏🏻✨
Sun and Mercury in Gemini in the third house. I got my bachelor’s in communication and am now in grad school for creative writing. I just finished writing my first novel ever over the summer. It seems as if my whole life is school and communication. I also have a sister who is one of the closest people in my life.
I’m from Butte, MT and used to play in Evel Knievel’s tour bus. I find it interesting that his 3rd house is Aries because when he spoke he was intense but inspiring! Beyond this, he was EXTREMELY generous! His 2nd in Pisces is so on point and he often gave without needing or wanting the recognition. He wanted to be seen for his stunts but in Butte he was a normal guy you said, “How’s she going?” to. Great example chart!

This is incredible! I have Pluto, Saturn, and Mars in my 3rd in Scorpio! I do many things including Astrology, horse hoof trimming, massage therapy, raft guiding, ski instructing, house cleaning…and more! I finished my Masters Degree in Biology during my Saturn return. Left that career to be a mother and do all these other things. ❤ I also do everything involved in spirituality and outdoor activities.

I took care of my younger siblings when I was younger. My career is a metropolitan coach operator I am also a union representative and a mentor for my company. In Sideral and Vedic astrology I have a Leo in my third house and Gemini moon with Gemini rising…. I don’t stop learning. I have to research everything. I’m curious about everything. My learning never stops. I’m also a tarot reader and I study Astrology religiously.

I have a packed third house, featuring an exalted Mars in a Mars ruled night chart... who just so happens to be at 17 degrees of Capricorn. This part of my chart has consistently baffled me. Yay! I’m really excited for this one 😊 I haven’t got any third house placements, however my third house is Libra and I’ve got Venus in the 7th in a night chart. I’ve been so lucky in my siblings!!! I’ve got four sisters and brother all of whom are wonderful people (intelligent, interesting, artistic, attractive, and generally delightful) and as much friends as family. I’m also really lucky in my aunt and uncles, enjoy cordial relationships with my many cousins, and with the children of my parents’ various partners over the years (my parents are divorced). I’ve also usually had nice neighbors and lived in pleasant places where I almost always encounter kindness and friendliness from both acquaintances and strangers. It’s quite obvious that this is one of the best parts of my chart despite the fact that the house itself is empty 😊💫 Incidentally, various siblings, cousins, uncles, and childhood friends have Libra placements, as does my wonderful grandfather ☺️
@theastrologypodcast I love listening to your podcast and was so excited when I get to the five hour mark and you mentioned the birth chart of my grandmother, Frances McEvoy! She is the person who really first got me into astrology, she was so passionate about research and astrology until the very end of her life. You are right, she was dedicated to research, and would go to the state house to get birth data frequently and even in other states. I remembering hearing comments that she spent half of her honeymoon, which was a road trip, collecting birth data in different cities : ) That was back in the day before internet. She died when I was 18 and I have many of her books from her astrology library. I'm so happy to hear her research lives on and is useful. I have mercury in leo in my third (ruler of my ascendant), and sun and jupiter in my second in cancer so this episode was already very interesting for me. Thank you!

As a 29 degree 50 minute Capricorn Sun, I've been listening to this episode during Pluto's final hurrah over my Sun which is Square my moon in the 3rd in Aries and Uranus in Scorpio in the 10th. Plutos transit through my third house was very powerful. Its conjunction to my part of fortune and moon in Capricorn, sextiles to sun and then Venus, trine to Pluto etc. My songs transformed and my singing voice became stronger, louder and more powerful with vocal training. A friend recommended I use You Oughta Know as a reference for my song Love the Police back in 2018 when I wrote it. I had no idea about the chart of Alanis. Thanks for all your great episodes. I’m looking forward to the rest especially the 5th house.
Pluto is only transiting my 3rd house and I feel more biting with every progressing day. Granted, it's worth admitting that my chart probably supports this kind of behavior from me to begin with. Most notably, Ascendant in Scorpio. I used to be so quiet and hesitant to speak up about anything, but now my younger sister doesn't like how loud I am at times, which was truly rich coming from someone who will always be much louder than I could ever be. In my natal chart, I have Saturn in 3rd house. I don't feel safe driving a vehicle and unfortunately live in an area where public transportation basically doesn't exist. For now, family helps me out. I just wish my independence as an adult wasn't locked behind needing a car. During my Saturn Return, my sister and I began developing tensions with each other. I'm always forced to take the high road and I can't express myself the way I wish I could, which has resulted in some limitations on my freedom of self-expression and me not being a fan of that. So, I can be a bit harsh and biting, because I have to be extra careful with my language around her. Having to hold back all the time takes a toll. That's why I have a few outlets to help manage all of that internal stress. Those outlets involve various forms of creativity and verbal self-expression. As long as my sister isn't the focus, she usually doesn't complain to me about what I'm doing, which is nice, but I still feel censored in my own home.
So brilliant Chris and Leisa....having Uranus, part of fortune, Sun and Pluto 3rd hse Leo, I replayed 'you ought a know' which is so intense and cathartic and just what i needed at the time 😂❤❤ Ive always loved Alanis
With my Uranus @ 17/34 and Pluto @ 17/24 w/ AC @ 19 conjunction in Virgo in the third and mercury in my 5th, I will submit that I irrevocably transformed my family and legacy. I have been in an interracial marriage for 37 years and have two biracial children and five grandchildren. They are all amazing and beautiful and the loves of my life. We’ve been blessed with a good marriage and friendship. A great family. It is exquisite because I was southern raised in a traditional and pretty stereotypically prejudice family. To say how transformative this has been to my family, local communities, I’ll actually never know. I can say over the years I have seen people change their expectations as they live and work around us. (Unfortunately not everyone.) Thank you for all you do!

i've got the moon, my chart ruler, in the 3rd house. Resonating with several significations mentioned. One way I see the 3rd house is homesteading! Multi-tasking the many to-do's of living with the land. Milking the goats, watering the garden, making bread, soaking the willow branches for weaving, foraging mushrooms, gardening with the moon... it's a rhythmic lifestyle.

Wow ! You guys are blowing me away. No matter the house system i end up with 4 planets and my s. node in the 3rd house, aquqrius. Saturn at 0 degrees, mercury, jupiter, s.node and moon at 29.59. Im 62 yr old and i wish i could have had an input on this podcast. You gave me so much insite, there was so much did not know about the 3rd house. My asc ruler is in the 3rd.

Good God! Thanks a lot! My third house is pretty loaded: In whole sign houses I have Pluto, SN, Moon and Saturn. In Placidus I have SN, Moon, Saturn and Uranus. Either house system I feel all the positions quite heavily.

For the polyglot (3:43:00) you can look at (Archduke) Otto von Hapsburg. He was the crown prince of the old Austro-Hungarian empire, and was a prominent member of the European Parliament (Brussels) in the 1990s. I had the privilege to meet him then and he was an extraordinary person. He made it his mission to learn every official European language. I think he spoke 12 languages in all (fluently). He has Jupiter conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius in the 3rd house.
BTW I’m also an astrologer with the ruler of 3rd house (Virgo/Mercury) in the 9th house of Pisces (ruled by a Mercury-ruled Jupiter in Gemini in the 12th. My earlier career was working in International institutions (9th house), which is how I met von Hapsburg.
The other thing indicated by the ruler of the 3rd in the 9th is that one’s sibling is closer to the father than to the native with such a placement.

Sun and Mercury in Gemini in the third house. I got my bachelor’s in communication and am now in grad school for creative writing. I just finished writing my first novel ever over the summer. It seems as if my whole life is school and communication. I also have a sister who is one of the closest people in my life.
I’m from Butte, MT and used to play in Evel Knievel’s tour bus. I find it interesting that his 3rd house is Aries because when he spoke he was intense but inspiring! Beyond this, he was EXTREMELY generous! His 2nd in Pisces is so on point and he often gave without needing or wanting the recognition. He wanted to be seen for his stunts but in Butte he was a normal guy you said, “How’s she going?” to. Great example chart!

I do many things including Astrology, horse hoof trimming, massage therapy, raft guiding, ski instructing, house cleaning…and more! I finished my Masters Degree in Biology during my Saturn return. Left that career to be a mother and do all these other things. ❤
I also do everything involved in spirituality and outdoor activities.

Thank you very much for this Video. I have a Stellium in my 3rd house, Black Lilith, Part of Fortune, Saturn, North node, Sun in Virgo and Mercury. I took care of my younger siblings when I was younger. My career is a metropolitan coach operator I am also a union representative and a mentor for my company. In Sideral and Vedic astrology I have a Leo in my third house and Gemini moon with Gemini rising…. I don’t stop learning. I have to research everything. I’m curious about everything. My learning never stops. I’m also a tarot reader and I study Astrology religiously.

I have a packed third house, featuring an exalted Mars in a Mars ruled night chart... who just so happens to be at 17 degrees of Capricorn. This part of my chart has consistently baffled me. This is one of the reason's I love astrology: I found the knowledge I was looking for to understand this part of my chart right when it's about to be activated in a big way. Yay! I’m really excited for this one 😊 I haven’t got any third house placements, however my third house is Libra and I’ve got Venus in the 7th in a night chart. I’ve been so lucky in my siblings!!! I’ve got four sisters and brother all of whom are wonderful people (intelligent, interesting, artistic, attractive, and generally delightful) and as much friends as family. I’m also really lucky in my aunt and uncles, enjoy cordial relationships with my many cousins, and with the children of my parents’ various partners over the years (my parents are divorced). I’ve also usually had nice neighbors and lived in pleasant places where I almost always encounter kindness and friendliness from both acquaintances and strangers. It’s quite obvious that this is one of the best parts of my chart despite the fact that the house itself is empty 😊💫 Incidentally, various siblings, cousins, uncles, and childhood friends have Libra placements, as does my wonderful grandfather ☺️

@theastrologypodcast I love listening to your podcast and was so excited when I get to the five hour mark and you mentioned the birth chart of my grandmother, Frances McEvoy! She is the person who really first got me into astrology, she was so passionate about research and astrology until the very end of her life. You are right, she was dedicated to research, and would go to the state house to get birth data frequently and even in other states. I remembering hearing comments that she spent half of her honeymoon, which was a road trip, collecting birth data in different cities : ) That was back in the day before internet. She died when I was 18 and I have many of her books from her astrology library. I'm so happy to hear her research lives on and is useful. I have mercury in leo in my third (ruler of my ascendant), and sun and jupiter in my second in cancer so this episode was already very interesting for me. Thank you!

Wow. Thanks for all your work on this! I'm definitely having some revelations about my own third house among other things. As a 29 degree 50 minute Capricorn Sun, I've been listening to this episode during Pluto's final hurrah over my Sun which is Square my moon in the 3rd in Aries and Uranus in Scorpio in the 10th. My first book published 4/30 this year.

Plutos transit through my third house was very powerful. Its conjunction to my part of fortune and moon in Capricorn, sextiles to sun and then Venus, trine to Pluto etc. My songs transformed and my singing voice became stronger, louder and more powerful with vocal training. A friend recommended I use You Oughta Know as a reference for my song Love the Police back in 2018 when I wrote it. I had no idea about the chart of Alanis. Thanks for all your great episodes. I’m looking forward to the rest especially the 5th house.

Pluto is only transiting my 3rd house and I feel more biting with every progressing day. Granted, it's worth admitting that my chart probably supports this kind of behavior from me to begin with. Most notably, Ascendant in Scorpio.
I used to be so quiet and hesitant to speak up about anything, but now my younger sister doesn't like how loud I am at times, which was truly rich coming from someone who will always be much louder than I could ever be.
In my natal chart, I have Saturn in 3rd house. I don't feel safe driving a vehicle and unfortunately live in an area where public transportation basically doesn't exist. For now, family helps me out. I just wish my independence as an adult wasn't locked behind needing a car. During my Saturn Return, my sister and I began developing tensions with each other. I'm always forced to take the high road and I can't express myself the way I wish I could, which has resulted in some limitations on my freedom of self-expression and me not being a fan of that. So, I can be a bit harsh and biting, because I have to be extra careful with my language around her.
Having to hold back all the time takes a toll. That's why I have a few outlets to help manage all of that internal stress. Those outlets involve various forms of creativity and verbal self-expression. As long as my sister isn't the focus, she usually doesn't complain to me about what I'm doing, which is nice, but I still feel censored in my own home.

With my Uranus @ 17/34 and Pluto @ 17/24 w/ AC @ 19 conjunction in Virgo in the third and mercury in my 5th, I will submit that I irrevocably transformed my family and legacy. I have been in an interracial marriage for 37 years and have two biracial children and five grandchildren. They are all amazing and beautiful and the loves of my life. We’ve been blessed with a good marriage and friendship. A great family. It is exquisite because I was southern raised in a traditional and pretty stereotypically prejudice family. To say how transformative this has been to my family, local communities, I’ll actually never know. I can say over the years I have seen people change their expectations as they live and work around us. (Unfortunately not everyone.) Thank you for all you do!

i've got the moon, my chart ruler, in the 3rd house. Resonating with several significations mentioned. One way I see the 3rd house is homesteading! Multi-tasking the many to-do's of living with the land. Milking the goats, watering the garden, making bread, soaking the willow branches for weaving, foraging mushrooms, gardening with the moon... it's a rhythmic lifestyle.
