    I used one to control a ghost controls gate. It behaves as a push button which is actually just closing a circuit just like a relay. You will see 2 channels marked no for normally open, which is what my gate wants, and one channel is nc for normally closed. It's just a relay to trigger a monitored circuit in your device. Or do anything else you can do with a low current relay (like trigger a high current relay).
    In other words, you don't need to match voltage on your device, it's presumably looking for a dumb momentary switch on the wall.

    I can’t get the universal remote to learn channel one even though another remote is already linked

    Mine burnt out after a couple opens. Oldschool operator, 28VAC.
    First I tested it disconnected from the operator with 12 VDC (same as yours), I got it to learn both single-button remotes and could hear the relay clicking. So far so good.
    Then I changed the power to 28 VAC (within spec) but didn't connect the relay terminals, the relay worked repeatedly without issue.
    The non-remote buttons short the black 28VAC wire with the common white wire, so I wired the black to NO on the relay, then added a jumper connecting the COM and - terminals on the 850LM. The remote worked to make door go up, then again for down, then it stopped working, smelled like burning, I turned off the power. Only the main capacitor was hot but there's nothing visually wrong with it. I want to figure out what I did wrong but I doubt I can fix it. A reviewer on amazon said to jump the COM and + terminals, which makes no sense to me.

      Sounds like one of the devices has a short. Maybe the non-remote button?

      @@tonycampanella4597 Thanks for the reply.
      I figured out the issue. I googled the datasheet for the relays inside the unit and found a mostly similar one; they can switch up 14 VAC *I think* (which is crazy low for a relay), but I need to switch 28VAC to open the door (which is why it burnt out). I'll return the unit to amazon as defective (instructions said it could switch 28VAC) and get a replacement. Then I'll isolate the switching through an external relay that can handle the volts (their 9V relay will power my 28V relay).

    With 811LMX remotes I tap button to open. To stop door while moving have to hold button for 1 sec. Assume normal versus very old remotes???

    Thanks for you video, I have a question for you; This LiftMaster 850LM replace a LiftMaster Start 450 ? Again thanks in advance.

      Juan - they certainly seem to do the same thing. Looks like the 450 has some more complexity with programming different transmitters.
      The 850, you can have 4 transmitters.
      The range is excellent

    I have a ramset 50gb opener.I've been having problems opening/closing the gate.I have to almost get out of my car point the remote where the antenna is,I probably get within 6ft. and the gate opens....it really sucks. What I need is to be able to open the gate from at least 70-100 feet away.I hope this works for me.

    Is that mean after I connected the receiver to my existing opener, I need to reprogram all my remotes again by pressing the learn button on receiver and not the learn button on the opener? Thanks,

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. Pretend the yellow button on the receiver is the same "learn" button on your opener.

    Thanks for the video, I am trying to install this same receiver but I am not sure what wires connect to the receiver. In your video, you mention that you jumpered wires straight from the wall button? So extra wire is needed? Thanks

      Savage Patch Kids
      Yes. Just a little extra wire from wherever your button is to wherever the receiver is going. You can use doorbell wire that you can get at your local hardware store

      You can also double up on the connection in the back of your garage door opener where the button wire goes in. Whatever is closer.

      gblueslover2 - Hello - not sure what your saying “no” to.
      I placed my unit as close to the outside as possible to increase range.
      Yes it can be placed anywhere you want included next to the opener or far away from the opener.

    If I have the 889LM button wired up to the 8500 door opener and then I also attach this 850L into it, Will MyQ still work? I have an old 8500 that I had to add the wireless receiver kit and 889LM button to get the MyQ to work. Will MyQ still work through the wired button or does the 850LM bypass everything so that the 889LM is just a dumb button now with no other features on it (it has the lock option, light, learn, etc).

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wired button will still work for sure, but you are right, it might be just a dumb button

    • @LAArt
      @LAArt 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      850LM DOES NOT work with MyQ directly. You have to have a device that works with MyQ (such as the hub), that retransmits commands to the 850LM. Since MyQ hub requires a door sensor, this won’t work for gates.

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597  ปีที่แล้ว

  • @rr1ee163
    @rr1ee163 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I followed exactly your wiring connections. This device did not work for me. Even though my actual remote control is able to detect and learn the channel, the 850LM antenna receiver does not communicate with my Chamberlain B373 garage door opener.

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same opener and it works great. I should have put in the programming in the video.
      Are you using the yellow button on the 850lm as the “learn” button?

    • @rr1ee163
      @rr1ee163 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I’m using the yellow learn button of the 850LM. As I explained earlier,, my remote and the wall push button seems to be simultaneously communicating, but the Chamberlain B373 opener is not getting the learned signal. I agree, we need to see how you programmed the 850LM and got it to work on your video.

      @@rr1ee163 yellow learn button openers (security+ 2.0) do not use the same technology as shorting two wires together. to use this, you have to solder into the main control board of your control panel

  • @echang17

    Does the 850LM receiver connect to the existing garage door opener? It looks like only your door button is connected to the 850LM. How does it communicate with the garage door opener? Is it wireless?

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Erick Chang - Hello Erick. It doesn’t communicate wirelessly. It more or less does what a button does which is creating a little short in the wires, as if you had touched them together, which triggers the door to open and or close.
      The remotes no longer gets programmed to the garage door opener, they get programmed to the 850 LM. The “learn” button on the garage door opener is no longer used. That is replaced with the small yellow button on the 850

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wire doesn’t have to be jumped from the button. It can be brought back to the garage door opener to the same feed where the button comes from. Just double up on the connection

    • @echang17
      @echang17 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tony, so there’s two set of wires coming from the door button? One set of wires going to the 850LM and another set going to the garage door opener? Both connecting to the same connection inside the door button?

    • @tonycampanella4597
      @tonycampanella4597  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erick Chang - Yes. You got it.
      One wire comes from the garage door opener to the button and the way I said it up I went from the button to the 850. As I said in my second reply, you can go right from the garage door opener to the 850 doubling up on the terminals where the button also goes to.
