Mouth weak, down on your knees - sounds more like 'Mild and weak' to me (definitely has a 3rd syllable, at least)

Could be a lot of bands in the symphonic rock and symphonic metal genres, tbh. Evanescence, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, later-era Theatre of Tragedy, Lacuna Coil, etc. They could all be inspirations, and they all rock pretty fucking hard, just like this song. \m/

I honestly wish they built it up a bit more. the realization of that was unsettling but they could have really made it fma "ed..waaard..." Especially at the end when you think to laha telling athena, "did you think agdistis and I wouldnt notice?" and realize there might of been some scorn, from athena towards agdistis, in those emotions laha seperated from himself.

I’m only realising this now, but every Hemitheos has had a song, Hesperos had one, and we have 2 in Abyssos with this killer track
Giving the two Hemitheoi in Abyssos lyrics with their songs shows how they are equal (narratively) to Hesperos.
If not stronger too. If I remember right the more”in” you get in the rings the stronger those keywards had to be due to more dangerous stuff being stored inward

It's likely a reference to Hic Svnt Draconis, which was a warning used on navigational charts for areas deemed unknown and dangerous.
This song has hard edgy Evanescence vibes, and I appreciate it so much. Only in FFXIV do we get dark rock songs for our battle music. Bless you Soken.

@@Reddeth2 Tartaros was the last layer, but we already dealt with that layer on P8. Since Elysium is the peaceful afterlife/paradise and considering where the Pandaemonium is now... Elysium is what I'd suspect for the final tier as well.

@@Reddeth2 We dealt with the Warden of Tartaros so we could enter. The lab we're in on floor 8 is stated to be on the deepest level of Tartaros. I think it's also in the duty description?

Scream's my favorite of the Pandaemonium tracks, though I think "Where Demons Abide" (the ambient bgm) deserves to be called the best track. They really knocked it out of the park with all the variations on the core theme.
The silent storytelling of the tank getting locked into her cone AOE at 2:20, getting a bleed, immediately having the tank buster pop, and then watching the healers visibly go "FUCK." and start panic spamming Intersection. Incredible.
Always the best part of raid theme videos that use gameplay footage.

Love that the favoured music choice for the Ancients working in Pandaemonium is metal. Fitting, given what they have to deal with in there.

I agree with the comment that envisioned Emet-Selch having a hissy fit about the music blaring out of the castle being too loud.
What I'm most interested in from the lyrics is 2 things, specifically the 2 literary references in "your pound is paid" and "We're all mad here". The former being an allusion to Merchant of Venice, being a harsh punishment to pay off a debt and the latter being from Alice in Wonderland.
Alice has been in this world so long that she's been irreversibly changed from who she used to be.
How I see it, Hephaistos on his imposed "debt" to Athena in bringing her back. The other Warders at this point have been warped and twisted under his influence, unable to escape. They're now irreversibly "mad" and are now intent on turning Erichtonios and Lahabrea "mad" too to Hephaistos's ends.
The way i see, following from the later circle 4 theme, is that this song is about the corruption from the wardens by Hefaiston, but also as the reveal of the true intentions of Athena to Erichtonius.
The first song was strangely upbeat for how terrifying we've saw Pandaemonium as it is, but i think it represents well in hindsight now with how Hesperos was completely turned mad by the place, as well as how Erich thinks so highly of Pandaemonium itself because is it his mother's legacy.
Now with circles 6 and 7, we, alongside Erichtonius, start to realize how deep the rabbit hole of Pandaemonium and Athena goes, the wardens here are not fully mad but are slowly being changed by Hefaiston,and indirectly,by Athena, so the main melody is much more somber than its was with Hesperos because of this realization.
Idk how they do it, but the music in this game just gets better and better

The final chorus is so much better than the other ones to the point that it made me think if this was actually the trailer song during the raid until it came up. That's what you call popping off.
This is quite different than most songs, since it is a full featured song, not the normal one or two verses repeated. Also, very well done. They could release this as a single for radio play if they wanted to, and it would probably do well on the rock charts.
Hard to say. If you actually look at the billboard charts for top rock singles the past few years you'll notice something very quickly: it's all pop/hip-hop/rap artists that are branching out into "rock and roll" sounding songs. There are very few actual rock bands or artists on the charts.
This is the best track for the raid series. This is a hill I will die on.

@@zinogrex It was less that P4s theme wasn't that good but rather we had the same track for 3/5 fights and the track for both parts of P4 was just a vocal remix of the P1-3 theme.
Now we have the instrumental version of this for 5, this one is only in 2 fights, 8 has its own theme, and judging by orchestrion rolls, 8's savage exclusive phase will have its own theme as well. No more going insane listening to ancient shackles for the 600th time while you wipe to phoinix in PF.
@@gackybass Also ,while yeah the p8 theme isnt "as good as the p4 theme",it instead has super cool music reference stuff,namely the ascian fight theme (used for chrysalis and the iggy/laha fight) aswell as the akadaemia anyder piano.I know people will write it off because it isnt a cool vocal theme,but its just such a nice details about it.
P8 being a blend of Without Shadow, Thunderer and Shadows Withal is the coolest shit ever. Hic Svnt Leones has a natural buff anyway, since it's basically a 2nd phase theme that plays during the first phase. So it should be compared to whatever comes out in a week.
I also don't really blame Soken here sibce he was likely still recovering from cancer while EW was going on and he and his team were busy with the main expansion music.

@@kiretan8599 oh I agree! The movement to me said "I know exactly where I can go to do damage" and real recognize real in that regard, boss hit box is definitely forgiving
Its not that hard to dodge the exaflare, go between the "startpoint" from two waves and go after the second waves of aoes to the startpoint of the exaflare its rly simple

This was the first raid content I ever did on release day. I was still working through ShB when EW dropped, and I was focusing on school when 6.1 came out, so I didn't do Aglaia until a couple weeks after it released. Definitely a cool experience. Can't wait for 6.3 and the next alliance raid.
Alliance Raids are pure chaos on release. Its amazing.

You have pandaemonium, owned by Lahabrea, which is being harrased by an alternate, repressed version of Lahabrea. And then you have this song, which gives me Burn my Dread vibes.
This raid teir was a persona game all along.
despite soubdibg similar persona themes.are a little bit more japan rock oriented.
Not to mention the starting dungeon part in Troia dungeon looks like coming straight out of Persona games too.
Also love how the first tier in this section’s theme is called Silent scream when the next two is called scream. Soken you mad genius.
Honestly, seeing that twisted, Eldrich tree horror was the most mind blowing part of the raid to me. A strange, tortured abomination of a creature plus banger music? Check.

Just leaned that the singer is AKINO who sing theme songs for Genesis of Aquarion. This is like opposite polar of that. From a very nice pop song of the goddess of eternal love to a goth rock of the devilish wicked madness.
(Spoiler for both FFXIV and Aquarion) Think even deeper, Aquarion is about the warrior god who found love and decide to sacrifice himself protect the world for the eternity. Pandaemonium is about the goddess of creation who said because of love she want to live for eternity and doesn't care the cost by sacrifice anything else include the world.

We did in my FC and some of the people are in my static and the guy who's our MT just couldn't get his head around the whole tethers and how the AoEs swap.

Someone else also had a really good theory that the paradise AoEs have to be aimable for a good reason - maybe one of the Savage mechanics will involve people pointing their debuffs at specific people?

This music is like Dracula holding a goth rock party in his basement. It's fantastic.
I feel like this music lines up with some great moments during the fight. That beginning crash of the chorus aligned with the running around the boss's attacks all together and it was awesome during my fight.
On my first fight the "say goodnight" lined up perfectly with the left/right conal. at this point i stopped playing the game and switched to headbanging...we wiped cause i was healer...worth it
If I didn't play this game, I would think this was one of those gameplay videos where they replace the audio with their favorite song or something
The raids have been fucking amazing one after another and the soundtracks also complete bangers. Thank you ffxiv team thank you sound team, thank you Soken for making such an amazing experience.

The singer for a fight theme usually matches the sex of the boss you're fighting, and both the Keywards this tier are women.
@@jacobkern2060 some of the lyrics are 100% about Lahabrea though. Especially the part about "the shadow I left far behind, I'm just a stranger, we are estranged" (assuming the lyrics are mostly accurate which I think so for this part atleast), which is clearly about the memory Lahabrea erased and basically became "strangers" to in the literal sense when said memory somehow turned into it's own entity.
