Thank you for saying that fancy goldfish are for experienced fish keepers. They are not beginner fish. I have 12 of them in a 270 gallon tank. I have been keeping fish for 7 years and still learn something new daily with my 6 tanks. My Goldfish take the most care.

Hi! Just an FYI, the first fish needs a 20 gallon tank, and then an extra 10 gallons for every other you add. So two Orandas need no less than 30 gallons to thrive!

HI. Always best to provide goldfish with LOTS of space. Like the other poster said, 20 gallons per fish. They have a large bioload (waste production). ⭐

I have tried different options and to be honest it has always been more of an aesthetic thing. I've had goldfish in bare bottom tanks and they lived long happy lives. I've also used gravel but I when I have in the past I used round gravel instead of gravel with sharp edges.
Smooth rocks are good. I don't think they will get bored.
What type of goldfish do you have now?

The ammonia and chlorine levels were managed and everything was fine. They were frequently at the bottom of the tank. One of them kept chasing the other and nibbling it (idk if it was fighting). • @Ilostmyschmungus

For a 25 gallon do 1-2, goldfish do prefer a friend but you could get away with 1. An ornada isn’t the best choice for a 25 gallon. I would do a ranchu or if you can get it a pom pom goldfish.

As far as feeding. You can overfeed and fish and it will grow but it isn't good for the fish. I would stay with feeding it what it needs to thrive but not too much that it gets overweight. My goldfish would eat all day if I let them lol
