@@dhuraginedits5610 well then i really dont know, if you really want to make videos stick to a lower quality, that will also make the lag way lower or even non existant.
You have to go to the speaker/audio icon and right click it and click on sounds. From there you find your MIC and right click it and click on properties. You go to advanced and see the sample rate.
For gamers watching this though, just a good tip. Instead of display capture (if game capture does not work). Window capture is a lot easier and can capture almost all games. Display capture will still record even when you alt+tab which i imagine would be frustrating to edit afterwards. So go window capture :)

I have been making videos for over a year with pretty good equipment, but the videos were never the quality I wanted them to be. I now saw because of you that I only missed one single step. Thank you so much
Hey Muaaz, I just wanted to say thank you for your youtube advice videos. They helped me jump from 300 subs to over 21k and growing every day! The best tip that helped my videos was "change your content up if you dont enjoy your current content". As soon as I switched to the music genre I am currently on, I blew up really fast. Once again, thanks for everything
This helped so much, my videos were in 480p and I was so confused, I put in all these settings. You are extremely good at explaining these things and you have very good knowledge. I left a like because this is one of the few tutorials that have helped me.
You know, this is an excellent video. You give detailed instructions on how to set up OBS *exactly* the way it should be, showing every little step. The only thing I'd like to know is what would you use to convert these huge files to smaller sizes while keeping similar quality? What codecs? What containers? What bitrates? These are answers many people need to know.
I have gtx 1660 TI (really cheap in my country) I7 8700k, 16gb and the average of 40mbps internet but my frames dropped so fucked up.. from 100+ to 60-
Hey Muaaz! This really helps! But can I get to a 10K / 20K Bitrate while streaming too? Or are these settings for recording only while not streaming? My upload speed is about 20MbPs
back again. I never know how to do this stuff and every time I open OBS I need to fiddle with settings, and I end up going through a hella load of youtube vids to help with that, but none do it as well as yours. So thanks for a super helpful video. Sincerely, from a noob.
I think I've made one comment on youtube before this one. Thanks so much. I was ready to bail on OBS, couldn't get it working right. This was perfect. Great Job. Muaaz
With these new settings applied - how big can I expect my files to be? That is my current issue which is compressing the videos to be roughly 700 mb or so rather than 5gb or more! Also, I play with someone else and often our voices get picked up in each others mics since we play in the same room - would a headset bet better rather than a desk mic?
For those of you with AMD Graphics it will show up as either H264/AVC Encoder (AMD Advanced Media Framework) or H265/HEVC Encoder (AMD Advanced Media Framework) or both. The first option is the same encoder in the video though so if you have that option, use that Also Muaaz you now have another subscriber :D (you should also pin this to help others)
I have also noticed that if you use the HEVC 265 Encoder and try to stop recording OBS hangs so do NOT use this encoder unless you know exactly how to work it
Dude, I have a problem... so when I plug in my headset, (a headset with a mic, of course) i try to select it on the mic selection but it doesn’t pop up... what do I do?
if your mic uses an aux instead of a USB it may not show up and can be very tricky to set up recordings with. its strange but a workaround if you have one is to go Mic (aux) > gamepad> pc via USB. that makes it show up as a device your pc can recognize. I hope this weird workaround was helpful. Good Luck!
Hi everyone, I need help, I did everything you did in the video, and everything works fine like while im recording im not lagging but once i finish recording the video and i watch the video i recorded, the videos laggy. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I have a laptop btw.
So just saying, as a new inspiring youtube & streamer, I wanted to say thank you for resolving a previous issue I had. With my audio & video quality when recording, this actually fixed it. I'm just playing around with my microphone settings, and still adjusting some things.
I followed your exact instructions and settings. Though i'm still recording at a low quality with a terrible FPS rate. I use a gtx1060 6gb and i5-8600k with 16gb of ram. Do you know if anything might be bottlenecking my recordings with these settings?
Thanks for this video. Although the rate of speech could be a bit slower, it was very informative and helpful to learn how to stream capture with OBS as an alternative to Camtasia. However, being this application does not have video edit tools like Camtasia, is there an alternative (to Camtasia) someone can recommend to do basic video edits subsequent to a stream capture? Thanks much.

Did exactly what you showed in this video and for me with AMD R9 290x I only changed from 40,000 bitrate to 25,000 bitrate and it works fine no lags in the game or the actual file plays smoothly and file size isn't too big as well, for a test video of total 2.37 mins of a file size: 477MB Thanks i've been searching a lot for settings just for recording good job!

Hey I know this video was posted a long time ago,but I won a Blue Yeti Mic too and on my recordings it sounds rly awful unlike your amazing quality.Do you have any video to recommend how I could adjust and fix my Yeti's quality including where would be the best spot to position it?
great video, seemed a little fast in the beginning but i got used to it and after all we cal all just pause the video if need be. this video fixed my problem i had with the VLC player which didn't let me convert to mp4 as with your settings we completely skip it by just recording it in mp4 straight away. anyhow, great video again and keep going :) i also set one of the audio settings that you set to 320 (or so) to 1000-something as for me that was the highest and it is still working.
Thanks Muaaz for this vid. I have been searching for a good strait forward guide and you provided it. And the recordings are looking great! Thanks again.
Thank ya lad, the output was laggy at first, now it doesnt anymore. Probably the bitrate or something. Kinda used OBS the wrong way, now I know how to use it, and yes, I personally like using it because it records unlimited without any watermarks. So thank you for that man. And I agree with the fact you actually said that game capture is kinda useless, since display capture also records it fine. The only problem I had was the recording after I was done, it was really laggy for some reason. Gladly, you fixed it for me. So thank you.
good video man all id say is wouldn't it be better in the video tab, for you you set Downscaling to bilineary as you have set the resolution to record at native so it is unscaled and doing this will just remove that softwear filter ? i might be wrong but that was my understanding.
What are the audio tracks for exactly? Do I need to select 1 and 2 if I'm also recording voice with an external mic? Or if I keep it at just 1, will it pick up game audio and my mic? Also, if I'm in party chat on xbox, when my friends talk is that considered game audio that will be picked up? I have elgato hd60 and neewer condenser mic if that helps. Sorry I'm new to all this. Finally getting around to playing with settings

Just a heads up, now to check the sample rate of your microphone you want to search for "Manage audio devices" in the windows search bar.
You have to go to the speaker/audio icon and right click it and click on sounds. From there you find your MIC and right click it and click on properties. You go to advanced and see the sample rate.
