It's just taste and preference. Don't let others influence what ms you like. Just like my monkey brain doesn't like the rg nu's design but everybody likes it. It's still a fundamentally good kit though.
LOD, articulation, mold quality. LOD will be the first thing you notice, since it effectively defines the grading system for gunpla. Eventually MG will become your standard i.e. basic LOD. Anything less is a toy, really. Articulation refers to posing. Does it have ankle joints? Wrists? Knuckles? Is it restricted by its design? Mold quality refers to the plastic medium and the process of molding. Are faces flat? Edges crisp? Is it textured? Smooth? Once you build each of a different grade you'll know, especially if they're all of the same mobile suit. In the end, the more it looks like a robot version of a high quality Japanese motorcycle the better. Eventually, we'll have TH-cam millionaires with custom gunpla made from forged steel and carbon fiber.
Fantastic as always. I mostly share your view on resin and aftermarket kits. There is a fine line between too intricate and just the right amount of detail. Also, resin casting is all over the board with most manufacturers. YJL, sticker, and AOK have all been consistently good. Other “unnamed” kit producers are all over the board. In fact, the recasts on e2046 are better than the OG casts.
I myself am also into building and painting resin kits, so yeah I like this kind of content. Hope to see more videos about gunpla resin since there aren’t to many channels that cover gunpla resin. Also Bandai is now the EA/Apple of model kit companies, Bandai isn’t really all that interested in the 1/100 and 1/60 scale kits because they don’t sell as many compared to the HG and RG kits, it’s real shame.
Just ordered a Fm Aerial as my first gunpla. Looking into learning how to airbrush painting and learning how to add detail too. Alot to learn but ita cool. That barb looks sick af!.
I do very much enjoy hearing about Resin kits and learning about them because for me, they just aren't viable to do. So I'm stuck at the plastic-builds plateau. I'm totally excited for the Chinese 3rd party plastic kits though.
I do really enjoy this channel. Especially what you do with painting since I try to use the techniques for my prop building for the home theater. It's as if the collector from Marvel had a home theater room, so getting the best results as possible is important.
Yes please 🙏 More resin daddy would be excellent… it’s always a pleasure to hear your voiceover in the videos. Thank you for your videos, they always put a smile on my face 😊
With the lack of many new updated MG or PG these days I have gotten into getting these resin conversion kits as of the past couple years and its honestly been more enjoyable seeing the finally product versus what I would get from a bandai kit. Gonna have to check out that Lupus rex conversion kit
i just started looking into resin kits and i was looking at the zero labs barbatos in particular i was glad you had to see a video giving your thoughts on it
I've noticed that your trying hand gestures in your narrations, believe me this works for you hen you do these kinds of info vid's,I like it "It's A GUNPLA" is is coming up in production.., hell yeah I like these talks at length..,and give a little background bout your painting knowledge. IT's me when I grow-up I wanna paint like you to start..
Did you find a metal frame separately for that Kshatriya or is the frame just painted? It's a good paint job with attention to detail overall. Never mind it's a third party metal build product.
@@RX-79Ez-8It came with a partial diecast frame. I took the entire thing apart and painted it, frame and all, gave it fresh waterslide decals, and weathering. Also put LEDs back in it.
I've been building a Non-Resin( Scribed and pla-plated) version of the YJL Strike Gundam about 2 months now, and boy do I hate it when official decals and paints for the kits are out of stock 😩.
I'm currently working on the SH Studios GM Dream Sandrock Armadillo. It's extremely high quality, a lot of the parts snap fit like plastic. Crazy how far resin has come.
love the content, decided to put my toes in the water of resin kits recently and picked up conversion kit for vidar since it was reasonably cheap, but while doing research on resin kits it just seemed like there is this lack of info at least here in the west and pricing and availability is kinda crazy with little to no idea what quality you are going to get. so thank you for giving us a glimpse under the shroud. any info on vn-cast 1/100 kshatriya conversion, could only find one place that looks like they did a preorder run awhile ago but couldnt find anything after that.
I was interested in the Gebra Tetra. Got the YJ strike on first print.Bandais problems going forward is ESG, which Chyna seems not have to adhere to.edit : damn you, you got the gm custom 😢, i missed out.
Yo Gundam. Love the content. Speaking of the MG GM custom. You should check mine out. I gave it a camo paint job. I call it the fully loaded Joey. The runners got run over by 2 cars during my move. So I had to customize it. Keep up the amazing work
had a shit cast from YJL on their zaku. made me stop from completing the kit, so its just there waiting to get painted.... resin just way too tedious, im out after a couple kits, love what takumi studio is doing, would love to see more of that from 3rd party makers instead of resin.
I appreciate the discussion on techniques. Specifically when you mentioned cutting your paint during the masking process. I watch videos of Japanese and Korean builders masking like that and think to myself "How i the f*ck are they not cutting the paint?" Maybe they do, but it's just in the panel line and they sumire over it or something. I haven't been brave enough to try it yet. The alternative method is even more tedious though - that I know for sure.
As someone who just builds uc mastergrades i realy wish bandai would redo alot of older kits all the stardust memory kits are awful basicly just like the old endless waltz 1/100 hg. There are so many cool suits that just havent and wont make it makes me sad, and the resin kits seam like a pain especially cuz i suck at painting. Im glad they exist though
In some of your videos you put your parts in some form of bath. Can you explain what the device is that you are putting your part in and is the liquid something special or just water?
I do think the future of kits will be weight distribution and better joints. With some of the digimon kits (very nice kits btw) ive debated on putting weights in their big feet
Im torn between the g system and the ac gerbera tetra. A lot of my stuff is already pg size so its hard to justify the smaller scale with the amazing cast stuff
Hey man whats up, i wanted to start painting models and i was wondering if you couls give me tips and advice on how to start and what tools to buy first as a begginer, would really appreciate it thanks in advance.
I can only financially afford one and I like them both? Which one would you recommend? I heard the frames for the FM Barbatos isnt very good so Im slightly leaning towards the Labs Zero. Thanks again
aside from bandai's own lack of innovations and effort, some of the fans are also to blame. they dont want additional details on their kits and always insist on 'muh anime accuracy'. bruh i dont want MGs that look like cheap toy figures. sure u can scribe them urself but thats additional effort that casual builders just dont want to invest in.
Does the YJL strike basically come with all new armor? I have a PG strike I ruined as a kid with spray paint and I've really been thinking about picking up the YJL kit on gundamit to restore it.
What I realized after watching Witch from Mercury is that writers couldn’t find a way to put a lesbian relationship in the story in a way that makes it feel natural, so they literally forced it with the whole arranged marriage bullshit.
I agree with the fact Bandai lack in those innovations. I recently built RG nu gundam and it’s hard for me to stand him with fin funnels attached (may be this’s my only problem). So I just display it without funnels attached which already looks cool. And what I like about those 3rd parties gunpla inspired kits are their weapons! Jesus look at that huge axe. And it comes with double axes. What do we get from Bandai kits? Same old light saber from 2003 I guess. I know that this’s due to anime accuracy but I really want to see those kind of innovations and risk taking approach to kits. You can name something like reimagined or redesigned. Idk it’s just my thought. Great video and hope to see more customized kits.
The GM Custom MG kit came out in 1999, so you were almost right on the ticket. Bandai unfortunately cares more about making the 900th Unicorn, Banshee, Strike Freedom, or new line that goes nowhere than they do about giving us kits of suits we love but who might not have been insanely popular (Gerbera Tetra, Messala, Gabthley, Pallas Athene, and a heap of other Z and ZZ designs come to mind)
You are the only person in the US that makes quality videos of resin kits. It's rather exciting when you release these types of videos.
True, always lookin forward to his clips ~
Lack of time from editing on the main channel keeps me from doing more.
Its still crazy as my poor monkey brain has a hard time seeing the difference between a good looking gundam kit and a bad one
It's just taste and preference. Don't let others influence what ms you like. Just like my monkey brain doesn't like the rg nu's design but everybody likes it. It's still a fundamentally good kit though.
Looks wise it’s just personal preference. Build wise it can be just personal experience or it just flat out terrible like the HG Tristan.
Sameeeee

Seeing optional products is never bad in my book
Feeling the itch after watching this. Got a Gerbera hg sitting in my closet for a year collecting dust.

ItsAGunpla / ItsAGundam is my favorite FAR RIGHT Gunpla Modeler! I love all the videos and commentary on watching the world burn 🔥
how the hell does he find time for all these hobbies? music, creative writing, commentary, and these gundam building and painting?
Love it all man. Keep doing your thing.
I just placed an order of LabZero Barbie and Im so excited for it. But first I got to see your finished on it!
Newtype finally getting AC stuff? I had look elsewhere for the Gerbera and GP02
You should see what I did with the 1:100 Kshatriya Papa G. I did her proud.

The parts for the tanks will still be able to be built with the slight curve. I built mine and once glued you don't notice anything.
I'm currently working on the SH Studios GM Dream Sandrock Armadillo. It's extremely high quality, a lot of the parts snap fit like plastic. Crazy how far resin has come.
I'm seriously tempted to get that, but I don't think I can justify another ~$400 since I already got Heavyarms.
The Forge World of Gundams
As far as I know no third party with larger wings haven’t magically fixed back heavy kits.
More of these, yes.

Another glorious video.
Thanks Resin Daddy!
bout time we got more gundam
This reminds me of how badly the Gerbera Tetra needs a new mold
That high pitched noise in the intro hurt my ears haha
Please please make videos on the Barbatos
Damnit Gundam, I already bought way too many kits over the 2 years since you got me into Gunpla. Please don't get me into resin kits now!
I need some of those third party "gundam" kits.
Yo Gundam. Love the content. Speaking of the MG GM custom. You should check mine out. I gave it a camo paint job. I call it the fully loaded Joey. The runners got run over by 2 cars during my move. So I had to customize it. Keep up the amazing work
Could you make a video on how you paint white parts, I have been making gunpla for over 3 years and never felt happy with the white parts.

I tried doing a similar method, it's easy to do it so long as there is a panel guide. Sometimes I use a liquid mask to make it easy.

time to pick up some armored core kits :D
Bought the infinite dimensions genesis and am pretty stoked for it. Bandai just hates us and goes for safe HGs these days.
For the Barbatos Lupus Rex does it show in the manual what paint colors do you need?
I do think the future of kits will be weight distribution and better joints.

Gundam I know a 3rd party made metal frames for rg nu Hi nu and sazabi as well as MG exia and wing zero custom ver Kai would that help with Hi nu?
Hi, how does these GK kit works? Do you just swap out original armor and snap these Yujiao armor on?
Please cover more resin kits
The mg baratos Bandai body frame will fit this kit ?
You need to make a rant video about Bandai.
What the hell? I got no new notice of this video.
