    I wonder if anyone in that crowd was aware of the magnitude of what they were about to witness, I wonder if even David Gilmour was aware of what he was about to do when the song began, I mean, that day history was made. Just imagine been there and been able to live the best guitar solo of the entire history.

    As I saw where someone else posted, David Gilmour doesn't plug the guitar into an amplifier. He plugs it into his soul. David doesn't just play the guitar. He tells a story with it. And if you think about it, the entire story of The Wall is contained within that one solo. Incredible.

      The story goes Roger didn't fancy himself a rock star. But David did.

    The mirror ball used at the end of the song "Comfortably Numb" is one of the largest in the world. 4.9 metres in diameter, it rises to a height of 21.3 metres before opening to a width of 7.3 metres, revealing a 12 kilowatt Phobeus HMI lamp.

    • @equigs
      @equigs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When the industrial sized spotlamps hit the mirror ball. A simple thing to do but sweet fuck. I mean JAW DROPPING moment in time. Unforgettable!

    • @claudepage6214
      @claudepage6214 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In Montreal, at the Olympic Stadium, because of the suspended kevlar roof, the mirror ball came out of the floor from behind the sound and light technicians in the center of the stadium, instead of coming down from the ceiling.

    What a class act. All class. These ARE THE BEST rock stars on the planet folks. And don't give me any arguments about it. When I had my near-death motorcycle accident in 1990 over here in New Zealand aged 26, and lost my entire left leg, hip, and left side of my pelvis, I had over 10 general anesthetics, and more morphine pumped through me than the all the blood in my body. I tripped all through my time in the Intensive Care Unit - and we are not talking pleasant trips either. Mega hallucinations and total paranoia to the extent I believed I was going to die. There's a saying that fear of death is worse than death itself. When I returned home and eventually back in to the flat I was living in at the time of my accident one day I threw some Floyd on to my bedroom stereo. And when 'Comfortably Numb' played I experienced a reaction to the song like never before. And when David Gilmore's final lead axe lick came through the speakers I thought to myself 'this sounds like my near-death experience I had when surgeons & doctors performed the massive hemipelvectomy operation that saved my life' - as I had septicemia (blood poisoning in my remaining left leg stump - my leg was amputated at the knee when I fell off my motorcycle and slid in to a farmers paddock concrete fence post on the side of the road - and the septicemia was spreading - if it spread in to my organs I would die. So the operation was crucial. I ran the hospital blood bank dry on my blood type during the operation. And surgeons were flushing fresh blood through my body to rid my body of the septicemia hoping to gain a fresh blood supply. They eventually did and I lived. One of my Intensive Car Nurses who was present during the operation said she's never seen the human body take such punishment and trauma and my surviving was a miracle. Ever since losing my leg I have suffered chronic stump pain and although there is no stump, it is nerves and neurons around the area that trigger pain that to describe is indescribable. However after a comprehensive pain management consultation with the highest qualified specialists I require a cocktail of the strongest legal pain killers in high doses plus I exercise frequently to control pain. I will go to my grave feeling some pain probably. However I know where I am heading Pink Floyd will be playing over the 'home theatre system' and I will definitely forever be 'Comfortably Numb'. Thank you Pink Floyd - total love and r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

      That's so near to what I experienced after two cars crashed in to me. One rear ending me pushing me in to the path of another car on my side of the road. Coma for 6 days.hip leg arm ribs shattered and a collapsed lung. a boat load of morphine. I could hear surgeons talking. Hear the crunch and crack of bones as they did their stuff on me. When I woke I was on a train station platform seat lying down watching trains pass through the station at speed. When doctors spoke I seen the voices but heard nothing. I was on a morphine driver for self medicating for weeks. I've done all the drugs. Tripped on LSD. magic mushrooms. flyagaric. cactus. But a month on morphine at total saturation is some trip. At one point I could see myself on the ceiling curled up in a mirror image of myself looking at me on the bed and my sight flashed between the two of us. All in ultra slow motion.

    I remember back in august 1994 in Bordeaux, South West France. my Family and I we were at the Pulse show 😃 and the whole show was crazy, astonnishing, damn great !
    Then they started playing Comfortably Numb.
    I remember that I started crying in the middle of the song, emotionally unable to do anything else 😢
    It is so emotionally charged and so powerful that it kept me down for hours after the show...
    Still... it remains for me the best song and "bestest" guitar solo ever.
    Thank you Master Gilmour for all this so f**king good emotions !

    Best guitar solo in music history. The emotion Gilmour brings to a guitar is phenomenal and unmatched. He may not be the most technical guitarist but he delivers where it matters and breaths life into his guitar, that hardly anyone can even do. This and the fact that this is better than any version that included Waters

    Seriously, if Queen can get a biopic, I think we need a Pink Floyd biopic. There would be so much emotion throughout. From Syd’s departure, to finding success with Dark Side, Roger leaving, there’s just so much that can be done with a Pink Floyd biopic. Imagine the movie ending with this scene. Does anyone else realize how amazing that would be?

      Tell that to the girl screaming in my ear at the show in Oakland CA. in 1994. There's a nifty thing called mixing that allows sound engineers to control how much audience you hear in a live broadcast, or in the post production of a DVD or CD, except whatever may leak onto any un-gated stage mics.

      Because sweetheart...what youtube doesn't seem to finger out is that floyd did 5 performances of the earls court shows (that's not hidden knowledge, ppl do know about that, just not everyone these days)...with everything set to maximum performance for the sake of recording...audio max, but probably turned down for better sound quality...the Most serious and try hard of performances...the light show was amped up from the US concerts by far (they were in recording perfection mode, Not random road show mode)...but also...but also....they pick and choose what goes into the studio version of the live performance.....they're doctored and tuned and mastered and EDITED before they are released as the studio version (alot of groups do this and it's a dirty secret to many..I would guess most groups do this, they just don't want the fans to know you much they "tune" in the studio)...saw them once live...didn't sound anything ....like a"CD turned up live"...infact comfortably numb sounded loud as F but the notes were so distorted and powerful and incoherent, and I was to the right of the sound booth on the floor....if anybody wants to know more or about the anomalies of the particular show that I saw hit me back, I'll answer any questions.

    Seen live in '94 in Lyon (France). I would have liked that song never ends. I would have liked this solo never ends. My first big concerts at 24yo and what a concert ! Comfortably Numb is definitely my favorite song of PF. Best final solo ever !

    I would give my left hand and right leg to see this live... David Gilmour is my favourite guitar player and Pink Floyd is (in my opinion) the best music that humans could ever make ... especially the Pulse Album is outrated, for me, its the best live concert. Other musicians are also awesome, like Led Zeppelin, Dr Dre(just kidding), Metallica, Iron Maiden or AcDc in Donnington, but no sound gets me so fast goosebumps after 2 seconds like Pink Floyd....
