- Cathy Skipper, menopause midwife, discusses how we can build a new, more loving, less judgemental relationship with our changing bodies during menopause and perimenopause. If we stop judging and worrying about our aging bodies, but are willing to turn our attention to listening to them, to witnessing, observing and learning from our embodied intuition, we begin to understand and develop a different type of knowledge than that of the intellect or left brain. Learn to navigate the inner feminine by changing the way you listen to your body.
It’s hard for me as I now feel as if I was losing control of my body and how I look… I will be 54 at Xmas and even after having stopped smoking, drinking alcohol and started eating healthily, taking supplements, walking and exercising daily, my shape never gets back to the graceful curves I arbored not such a long time ago. I have constant gut problems and the volumes in my face also start to follow gravity and no matter how hard I try to normalize this all, I can’t help but feel down about it and wonder how long I will be able to withstand it all as there is hardly any fun left for me to enjoy 😢
I'm sorry you are feeling so down about your physicality at this time. My advice is to love your body today even in the way it is changing. It has carried you this far and enabled you to experience life and get to 54. First of all what part of you is judging your physical body? What model of beauty or how your body should be are you listening to? It's great that you are walking and exercising, but re you doing these things because you want to 'get back' to your body the way it was or because you want to keep your body healthy and enjoyable to live in? The gut issues are different. The gut is the emotional centre, maybe there are some deep emotions that are asking to be dealt with and integrated as you journey into the next stage of your life? What is your gut holding or saying to you? Also how can you make life fun. It' snot how we look that makes life fun, its how we feel, how we listen and honor our souls. How about journaling on the prompt, what does my soul need at the moment? What is my gut holding for me or what emotions is my gut finding difficult to digest? I hear you. My menopause has been fairly easy so far but I’m definitely feeling older and my younger self is pretty much gone.
It’s liberating in a way though. I don’t have to worry about being the prettiest girl in the room, I can just be me.
@@karenkaren3189 Exactly, thank-you for sharing that. It's so much better for our souls be ourselves than to be pretty isn't it?
