    Great lesson. I was a Class A flatbed OTR driver and sucked at backing. Thanks to you and this video, the first time I followed your technique it was like a walk in the park. Needless to say, I passed my test with flying colors.

    This is the kind of bus I tested on. The videos with the conventional buses instead of the transit buses are not as helpful. I love that this video uses a transit bus. And excellent explanation, by the way.

      I concur. This video was better than my hands on training. I am being taught that the back wheel should be even with the cone insead of behind the front cone. This makes it easier to identify the placement.

    Thank you for these videos! You provide some great tips. Do you and Catherine offer coaching? I live in Centerville too. My Boy Scout troop is the one with the bus (Troop 516 - Southminster Presbyterian Church). We recently bought a Blue Bird All American RE Diesel. I volunteered to learn to drive it since I go on most of our outings. You may have seen our former busses during the American Festivals on July 4th. We are also the troop that carries the big flag at the start of the July 4 parades. (Just for some context of who we are.) I won't be driving a school bus, per se, but the vehicle is the same. If you offer classes for new bus drivers in the Centerville school system, I'd love to join you. I'll keep watching the videos regardless. Many thanks!!!

      @@SchoolBusSass I have my Class B learner's permit (Passenger Endorsement, Air Brakes). I have some drivers in our troop who can take me out driving. The inspection and maneuverability tests I will pretty much be practicing and learning on my own. That's where some coaching might be valuable. I won't be driving for the school system, but will be transporting school age scouts (nominally 10-18). Thanks.

    If u guys ever get a chance, could you make a video about the pre trip inspection on the IC RE....looked ALL over TH-cam, but nobody does pre trips on the Pushers...I also wonder about the door mech...if its air....I've seen some at my school, but they're all different....When you get a chance could u do a pre trip over the RE....Including DEEP under the bus....really wondering how the RE's steering system works....Different from Thomas And Bluebird....if you could do this you would make me the Happiest 7th Grader in the world Ms. Mileti❤❤❤👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

      Therese Mileti Thank you so, so, soooooo much Ms. Mileti...If you're wondering why I like buses.....it basically started when I was in 2nd Grade....i would always look at the drivers switch panel trying to figure out schematics....I then drew a picture of it, not because i liked it, but because I wanted something to represent our bus...so, since he thought I liked buses he had me sit in the driver seat (didn't know why) but later he developed a frame with pictures on it of HIS bus.....I then moved to mississppi where my cousin worked in the Bus yard....so I was able to get exclusive looks....but we had mostly manual door buses....one that had air doors....that I still haven't seen the mechanism of yet....hopefully I'll see it when we get out for spring break....and I then moved to Memphis, TN where I was able to see all buses air door mechanisms ....[Thomas EF's]....and I'm now in Bartlett, TN going to Appling Middle....still seeing door mechanisms and still being the bus curious kid I was 7 years ago....But, I'm just another average 7th grader, but I know I'm going to get somewhere with my passion....Thanks again...Ms. Mileti...if you can get a door mechanism vid on the RE and pre trip/steering assembly (control) on RE I would be very grateful....and thank you for your determination to try to get something together for me....👍🏾👍🏾❤🥰

    Well done!!! But I have a question, Shouldn't the vehicle be parallel to the curb by no more than 18 inches from the curb at the end of the maneuver?

    • @SchoolBusSass
      @SchoolBusSass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you are completely in the parallel parking space, you are good to go. If you are real life parallel parking, you would want to be no further away thank 18 inches. Great question, thanks for asking!!!
