One night the 4 of them went to a pub and my friend was sitting at a table and a Scotsman came over and joined them. She said the more he drank the more he talked and the more he talked the thicker his accent became. She's French American and she said that towards the end she couldn't understand the single word he was saying but she just sat there in awe listening to his beautiful accent. She brought home for a mutual friend and me novelty dishtowels as gifts. Mine had the recipe for haggis on it and our friend had a cute picture on hers of 2 Scotsmen trying to fish in Loch Ness. Nessie rears her head and one of them started talking to the other 1 and my friend couldn't figure out what was being said. I had to translate so she would figure that out

If you're into it, The Simpsons just did an episode all about Willie with a lot of Scottish guests. I recognized David Tennant's glorious Scottish accent immediately, but when Willie's girlfriend spoke I said "that accent is faker than Willie's, why didn't they cast someone Scottish?" Only to see on the credits it was played by Karen Gillan. I'm not sure if she was playing it over the top on purpose or if that's really how she sounds, but it was way more cartoonishly Scottish than the accent she had on Doctor Who. Then again David played The Doctor with a British accent, so who knows.

Edited to add: if you're really serious about learning accents I'd say the easiest way is to find a TV show that's from an area and watch it with the closed captions on. Eventually you'll get used to it and won't need the captions any more. Good luck.

Very very nearly 100%. You slipped up just once I think. It was "fried" that gave it away. "Fried" has a longer diphthong. Watch out for the difference between "sighed" and "side". But apart from that, really well done!
