I'm a lone traveller, just me and my dog. He, like me, is not as young or as active as he once was. He is a large German Shepherd and, although he is not aggressive, he makes me feel safe. He probably does curtail some of the things I can do, such as a visit to a castle that would take a few hours but he is the reason I get exercise as we walk for miles. I wouldn't be without him. And ready salted square crisps are my favourites.
I bet he would protect you if the need arises. I have seen these dogs in action many times in the past. I soon learned that when they turned up to make sure I stayed well behind the handler 😁👍
Dogs like children are a commitment, but my god are they worth it, a dog will love you unconditionally, always be happy to see you and will be loyal to a fault, the smells, the responsibility are a tiny tiny price to pay for having one…..no matter what dog you get you will end up loving it more than anything else, I’ll never be without dogs in my life.
The nicknames are one of the reasons I find you two so adorable. My father used to call my mom "bunny". I think couples who use nicknames have a real admiration for their partner.

The thing I like about your videos, is that you do what most camping couples of your age do. Visit nice places, go for a walk, eat out or cook your own, no over exaggerated dramas or hook lines, just honest, happy camping. Keep them coming.

I too was married to a police officer for nearly twenty years. He was a Berea Ohio officer for 35 years. He’s sadly passed away. I still don’t want the mess and trouble of a dog😂 The only stark difference I see is that I love love love fast food. I have no self control--I’d be eating five guys- Burger King-McDonald’s-- pizza and beer or wine with dinner every night‼️🍟🍔😎🍕 I don’t cook -- never have -my husband Bob didn’t cook either‼️ He was great however when he cooked steaks on the grill. It was my job to make baked potatoes--buttered corn and rolls We never ate fruits or vegetables--😂 He loved big breakfasts when we traveled--I’m grateful that we traveled the world in our 40s & 50s Neither of us were campers--he loved expensive hotels- He showed me the world--taught me all about architecture-ligature and art. I am grateful every day for the gift of twenty years I had with him and now I’m grateful for every video you create. Thank you very much❤

It is possible your trolls are so deeply unhappy with themselves they try to destroy the self esteem of others in order to make themselves feel better... To be succinct, the hours of work that goes into your channel cannot be underestimated....if it's not working for you and causing friction...STOP and enjoy your retirement...we will miss you...as an ex officer it's possible you've have quite enough of irrational aggression... To be honest your vlogs/videos are better than telly. We did start to fit our fiat van to be a camper as we wanted to go to Scotland, but we moved and hubby is updating the garage so has gone on back boiler. You are both calming and a joy to watch. X

Brilliant Q&A vid - keep up the good work with your channel as it is very entertaining and the technical input is of very good quality - not easy to achieve without a lot of knowledge and hard work, We travel round (occasionally) in our Bongo and stay mainly on recognised campsites because I haven't had the confidence to "wild camp"

I've owned my newly converted Nissan NV200 for nearly 3 months now (an 11 year old van and solo woman) but have only slept in 'Nessie' twice so far (only in campsites so far) as I work out crafty storage techniques. I learn a lot from experienced vanners like yourselves, thank you. 😊

My wife and I used to be campsite inspectors for a well known book. Many of the places you visit are were we went to, obviously we stayed at campsites and not wild camping. It is so refreshing to watch a channel showing the beauty and diversity of this country. Coming from Australia's east coast, with our recent drenching can certainly relate to the weather. Raining in the Lake District, not unusual. I recollect on my first visit to England in 1959 driving along the front in Blackpool, crowds of people walking along the seashore in the pouring rain. Apparently the boarding houses and BnBs made their guests leave during the day, irrespective of weather conditions. Thanks for your insights, I'd be a bit wary myself of stopping in lonely spots here given some of the highly publicised events which have occurred. I can remember holidays in Devon and Cornwall with my parents in the 60s staying in B&Bs. Many rainy days spent huddled behind a windbreak on the beach until you were allowed back in the accommodation for your evening meal ☺️ Thanks for your lovely comment, from Carol x

I feel the same way about having a dog in a van. I see videos of people living with a dog or two, large dogs in a small space. The smell, hair, dirt, accidents. Making the area safe for them, cool or warm, while they're alone. Putting things away so they don't get bored and chew everything. No thank you to dogs or cats. Maybe a pet snake would work out.

I enjoy your videos very much. I am from the US so sometimes I don't understand British slang. I had to Google dogging, that was a surprise. We don't use that term here yet. I really enjoy all the historical sites you go to and the different foods you eat. Because of you I made Toad in a Hole (no one knew what I was talking about). You give good advise, thank you.

Ahh what a lovely chat, when we had our caravan at the bottom of the garden , we would often be a bit fed up especially in bad weather and would go down to the van ,have a cuppa and talk about old trips or planned ones. The minute I got in the van I felt like I was already on holiday, keep filming Ken and Carol I love the trips , it’s just as though I’ve still got my van, though sadly not my husband. Learn the basics of video shooting and editing and use them. Don’t put on an act it’s too much hard work and the audience will see through it. Pick a reasonable standard of production and go no farther, it’s not needed and is more work. Post 1 video a week. Understand that anything can be a story. Make sure you have the clips to tell it. Narrate as well as talking to the camera. If you say it show it. Do this and your channel will grow.

An interesting insight to your world and as you have said it all feels very calm, which I’m sure it is most of the time. Vlogging is so time consuming so thank you for bringing these to us all. Your little van certainly has a lot of advantages when travelling about, we have a slightly larger vehicle and will be soon travelling about as and when we can. Is great to see some of the sussex spots you visit as we are in East Sussex and there are so many places on our doorstep. I believe it may be some folks attitudes in some situations that induce those so called issues ? Hello Carol and Ken. I watched a lot of your videos and I it’s given me a great amount of ready made knowledge to tackle vanlife. I’m waiting for my van to arrive and at the same time I’m moving into semi retirement after a very busy period.

Could she tell us a bit about it. How she composes and edits her images. Would she ever consider making a small photo book or zine - as they say now.
Hi Chris. I just use my iphone for the photos. The best tips I can give are learn about and use the rule of thirds. Ensure each photo has an obvious subject. Focus the phone on the point you want and hold still when you take it. There are plenty more things to consider from there but I keep it simple. I use Affinity photo on my ipad to edit them into the frames you see in the video and to remove unwanted objects and adjust brightness etc. I am far to shy to consider doing a photo book but might do a calendar one day if i get brave enough.

If so, they work well. And I liked the angle of filming directly in front and to the side of you (back in forth ) to be nice. Sorry the weather wasn’t that good when you were on this particular trip. Stand alone food videos don’t do that well. As for a cook book it’s not really needed for what we cook. We go for quick and tasty common products that are easy to get. 👍

No dog then? 🐶. Sensible if you don’t like walking in the rain or getting too muddy. ( hope our two aren’t listening 🤣🐶🐶) “ come during the night! ”🤣. I have a caravan and always look forward to my trips away, the only downside is as I am a wheelchair user I am limited where I can go when out. I think that is were you come being so informative and when I visit the places you have been I can relate to the hidden areas and the history I may have missed on ground level !! I'm a lone traveller, just me and my dog. He, like me, is not as young or as active as he once was. He is a large German Shepherd and, although he is not aggressive, he makes me feel safe. He probably does curtail some of the things I can do, such as a visit to a castle that would take a few hours but he is the reason I get exercise as we walk for miles. I wouldn't be without him.
And ready salted square crisps are my favourites.
I bet he would protect you if the need arises. I have seen these dogs in action many times in the past. I soon learned that when they turned up to make sure I stayed well behind the handler 😁👍
Dogs like children are a commitment, but my god are they worth it, a dog will love you unconditionally, always be happy to see you and will be loyal to a fault, the smells, the responsibility are a tiny tiny price to pay for having one…..no matter what dog you get you will end up loving it more than anything else, I’ll never be without dogs in my life.
My (Ken) family always had dogs when I was a kid so I know what you say is true. One day we might have one again.
The nicknames are one of the reasons I find you two so adorable. My father used to call my mom "bunny". I think couples who use nicknames have a real admiration for their partner.
When I heard your favourite crisp flavour I immediately knew you're a man of culture hahaha!

I too was married to a police officer for nearly twenty years.
He was a Berea Ohio officer for 35 years.
He’s sadly passed away.
I still don’t want the mess and trouble of a dog😂
The only stark difference I see is that I love love love fast food.
I have no self control--I’d be eating five guys- Burger King-McDonald’s--
pizza and beer or wine with dinner every night‼️🍟🍔😎🍕
I don’t cook -- never have -my husband Bob didn’t cook either‼️
He was great however when he cooked steaks on the grill.
It was my job to make baked potatoes--buttered corn and rolls
We never ate fruits or vegetables--😂
He loved big breakfasts when we traveled--I’m grateful that we traveled the world in our 40s & 50s
Neither of us were campers--he loved expensive hotels-
He showed me the world--taught me all about architecture-ligature and art.
I am grateful every day for the gift of twenty years I had with him and now I’m grateful for every video you create.

I've owned my newly converted Nissan NV200 for nearly 3 months now (an 11 year old van and solo woman) but have only slept in 'Nessie' twice so far (only in campsites so far) as I work out crafty storage techniques. I learn a lot from experienced vanners like yourselves, thank you. 😊

My wife and I used to be campsite inspectors for a well known book. Many of the places you visit are were we went to, obviously we stayed at campsites and not wild camping. It is so refreshing to watch a channel showing the beauty and diversity of this country. Coming from Australia's east coast, with our recent drenching can certainly relate to the weather. Raining in the Lake District, not unusual. I recollect on my first visit to England in 1959 driving along the front in Blackpool, crowds of people walking along the seashore in the pouring rain. Apparently the boarding houses and BnBs made their guests leave during the day, irrespective of weather conditions. Thanks for your insights, I'd be a bit wary myself of stopping in lonely spots here given some of the highly publicised events which have occurred. I can remember holidays in Devon and Cornwall with my parents in the 60s staying in B&Bs. Many rainy days spent huddled behind a windbreak on the beach until you were allowed back in the accommodation for your evening meal ☺️ Thanks for your lovely comment, from Carol x

I feel the same way about having a dog in a van. I see videos of people living with a dog or two, large dogs in a small space. The smell, hair, dirt, accidents. Making the area safe for them, cool or warm, while they're alone. Putting things away so they don't get bored and chew everything. No thank you to dogs or cats. Maybe a pet snake would work out.
Dogs certainly sound like a lot of work but I’m sure they give a lot of comfort and affection back to their owners. Not so sure about a snake 😂🐍

Ahh what a lovely chat, when we had our caravan at the bottom of the garden , we would often be a bit fed up especially in bad weather and would go down to the van ,have a cuppa and talk about old trips or planned ones. The minute I got in the van I felt like I was already on holiday, keep filming Ken and Carol I love the trips , it’s just as though I’ve still got my van, though sadly not my husband. I always think if you had one tip to make a channel enjoyable what would it be? Best regards to you both, Alan. PS bet it be yourself ahahha
Learn the basics of video shooting and editing and use them. Don’t put on an act it’s too much hard work and the audience will see through it. Pick a reasonable standard of production and go no farther, it’s not needed and is more work. Post 1 video a week. Understand that anything can be a story. Make sure you have the clips to tell it. Narrate as well as talking to the camera. If you say it show it. Do this and your channel will grow.

An interesting insight to your world and as you have said it all feels very calm, which I’m sure it is most of the time. Vlogging is so time consuming so thank you for bringing these to us all. I have been watching since you were in Ireland and was wondering if you would be going back anytime soon? My husband and I spent 10 days there in 2019 and are hoping to go back soon. Watching your travels has given us more sights we would like to see.
We will definitely be going back to Ireland one day but not this year.
I just can’t understand the people that watch a video and have to leave abusive comments. If they don’t like it, why not just stop watching and switch it off. Or maybe there’re too thick to work out what the off button does!

Could she tell us a bit about it. How she composes and edits her images. Would she ever consider making a small photo book or zine - as they say now.
Hi Chris. I just use my iphone for the photos. The best tips I can give are learn about and use the rule of thirds. Ensure each photo has an obvious subject. Focus the phone on the point you want and hold still when you take it. There are plenty more things to consider from there but I keep it simple. I use Affinity photo on my ipad to edit them into the frames you see in the video and to remove unwanted objects and adjust brightness etc. I am far to shy to consider doing a photo book but might do a calendar one day if i get brave enough.

If so, they work well. And I liked the angle of filming directly in front and to the side of you (back in forth ) to be nice. Sorry the weather wasn’t that good when you were on this particular trip. Stand alone food videos don’t do that well. As for a cook book it’s not really needed for what we cook. We go for quick and tasty common products that are easy to get. 👍
Some useful tips there. Good to keep things simple. We are learning much the same. Travel light eh? 😊🧙♂️

No dog then? 🐶. Sensible if you don’t like walking in the rain or getting too muddy. ( hope our two aren’t listening 🤣🐶🐶) “ come during the night! ”🤣. Note to self - no knocking on the van when Ken’s ( aka the crisp monster) having a nap😉👍 we are both in the “ eat the whole bar” camp 😊🧙♂️

You guys are just a really nice couple , and easy to watch , enjoying your lives in your retirement years . I'm guessing we are a similar age to you , myself and my Mrs have nicknames for each other ,more so I have more for her ,all sorts of daft stuff lol .we have been married since 1985
And known each other since i was 19 now 60 years old 😊

Morning Chaps. Loved this Q&A. Interesting how you both spoke honestly about relationships in such a small space. We're pretty much the same. No screaming rows, just silences for a while, until one of us says.. Do you want a coffee.. That usually signals a return to normal. Also, meeting your subscribers. Speaking from the other foot. It's strange too, to have as you say been watching for so long and thinking we know you personally, then actually having a chance to meet in person and have a good old chat. Would you both be as we expected and we can honestly say.. You both come across as genuine People, both on and off the channel and very much.. Do what it says on the tin. Hi I have throughly enjoyed your videos and certainly my ‘ go to channel’ I particularly like that you are both so natural and it almost seems like the camera is invisible. I have a caravan and always look forward to my trips away, the only downside is as I am a wheelchair user I am limited where I can go when out. I think that is were you come being so informative and when I visit the places you have been I can relate to the hidden areas and the history I may have missed on ground level !! I always look forward to your next instalment and hope the recent price increases won’t impact to much on your journeys. Have you been to Northumberland in the NV200 ? Keep travelling. Hi there! Hubby and I are newly retired with an old teeny weeny micro van that is partly converted. So far we've only been to one campsite. Your videos are so lovely I'm binge watching them. We must try wild camping, bit nervous though!
