Hi Dan, I’m looking to travel to bruny island in April this year and I chanced upon your video! I know that not all rental cars allow us to bring the car to bruny island. Would you be able to share which car rental company you used and also, is the terrain at bruny island bad such that you need a SUV? Would a compact car be ok for the roads in bruny island?

Hi, Li Ting. I'm afraid I didn't use a rental car. I used my own car that I brought from Melbourne.
Most roads are paved roads which are fine for compact cars. It's only the road from Alonnah to Cape Bruny Lighthouse that is unpaved dirt roads but you can still use a compact, you just have to drive slower... Hope that helps.

Dan, How much did it cost to ship your car over from Melbourne to Tasmania?

It depends on the season, whether it's an overnight trip, and the size of your car. You can try to do a booking here to see the estimate.

Enjoyed the vid, good representation of where I live. But you missed out on the best spots. Those are the tourist traps.
