Pavarotti will always own this but they did very well. I expected Rob (with his training) to do very well and he certainly did, but considering his background Austin outdid himself.
Austin's "Georgia on My Mind" is very good. Although Ray Charles will always own that song.

This just goes to prove the members of Home Free are very talented. And much more than a country vocal band.
LOVE Home Free and LOVE all members separately.
I think Rob's accent when singing was a bit better than Austin's but this was just amazing.

I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy. Each guy in Home Free is super talented on his own & in another league from any other group.

    in case anyone is curious
What is the English translation of ‘Nessun dorma’?
    None shall sleep,
    None shall sleep!
    Even you, oh Princess,
    In your cold room,
    Watch the stars,
    That tremble with love
    And with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
My name no one shall know,
    No... no...
On your mouth, I will tell it,
    When the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
    Vanish, o night!
    Set, stars! Set, stars!
    At dawn, I will win!
    I will win!
    I will win!
What are the original Italian lyrics for ‘Nessun dorma’?
    Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
    Tu pure, o Principessa
    Nella tua fredda stanza
    Guardi le stelle che tremano
    D'amore e di speranza!
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me
    Il nome mio nessun saprà!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
    Quando la luce splenderà!
    Ed il mio bacio scioglierà
Il silenzio che ti fa mia!
    ll nome suo nessun saprà
E noi dovrem, ahimè! Morir! Morir!
    Dilegua, o notte! Tramontate, stelle!
    Tramontate, stelle! All'alba vincerò!
    Vincerò! Vincerò!

Wow. This is insane. It is extremely good. So fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed. His voice is just magical, so warm, so rich. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. He will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times and more in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible..

What a singer's musical training is can be very different from what they end up doing professionally. As an example, Avi Kaplan is a formally opera trained basso profundo who sang pop acapella in Pentatonix and now sings his own music in folk rock/country produced by Shooter Jennings. Not what you would expect either.
Rob is an opera trained tenor. Rob doesn't do singing on his own he reviews movies.
Austin is also formally classically trained but sings in more of a musical theater and pop classics direction. They developed their channels as did Tim Foust as their income sources during the pandemic quarantine with no touring for Homefree. Austin has "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables the musical as his serious dramatic song. He does a great Unchained Melody as well as many other pop songs including Georgia On My Mind and he writes original music as well. "Off the Grid" is one of his originals.

Just shows that Country singers (a lot of them) have truly amazing voices. I remember many years ago Reba did a number straight with no twang, or countrified, just using her normal soprano and it was amazing. Rob is a trained operettic tenor, and Austin is trained in musical theater, its just not where their passions are....

Rob was particularly kind to the young Austin when he encountered Home Free, telling him that there might be a vacancy and then letting him know that indeed they could use him. Rob is a sweetheart anyway, but It's possible that since they both had years of classical voice training under their belts, they had quite a lot in common. They certainly have great love and respect for each other. Austin had been thinking about this piece for ages and persuaded Rob to show his true voice. Did you notice Austin's little glances at Rob? Since Rob's voice is heavier and more dominant, they had clearly agreed that he would take the lead in the pace and beginning of joint pieces: musicians through and through.

It's interesting that this aria has been performed by popular singers recently. Adam Lambert sang Nessun Dorma at the Queen + Adam Lambert shows in Bologna Italy and then again recently at The Harris Reed fashion show in London. He received wonderful praise from trained opera professionals. I think there may be better Italian pronunciation in this video but all of them are killing it. It shows that there are some really great trained vocal talent still out there. We are the lucky ones that get to enjoy the talent spanning different genres.

Everyone in the UK above a certain age knows this aria. Our major broadcasting corp the BBC used it as the theme song for their coverage of a major football (soccer) tournament back in 1990 & made Luciano Pavarotti a household name. I really love Rob & Austin's version, but have to say I think Rob killed it. Opera is sung using a different technique to normal singing and Rob has been trained. I hope he does more of this, it shows the range and depth of his vocal ability. Loved it.

Found that I wasn't particularly impressed with this the first handful of times I watched because I was distracted by the resemblance Rob has to my cousin (an opera singer!). Not a fan of opera but have heard this sung many times (it's somewhat popular on some competition shows like AGT). Hearing it w/o the video, I'm even more impressed by Rob (was aware he'd previously done opera) and pleasantly surprised by Austin. We've seen what these guys are capable of as members of Home Free, how well their voices complement each other. Austin has had classical voice training since his mid-teens, went to college on full scholarship to study musical theatre, and (like most serious singers) continues to work with a voice coach . This is how the guys were trained to sing, with absolute control over lungs and diaphragm working at full stretch, immaculate placing of the voice and full projection. Both could have gone into opera professionally but life got in the way. So, no reason at all why they shouldn't. But to do it this well... not expected so much.

Great reaction man. Great voices. On a tangent, I see you’ve done various reactions to both Angelina Jordon & Dimash. Maybe you haven’t heard of Amira Willighagen, a Dutch Soprano who is equally as popular with viewers, but Reactors don’t seem to have caught on. Some interesting stats below giving the 3 most viewed performances for each of the three artists for your perusal.
    Dimash………. 26 million ; 20 m & 20 m.
    Angelina……….69 million ; 34 m & 32 m.
    Amira……………73 million ; 43 m & 37 m
Reactors either are unaware of Amira, or decide not to react to the best young Soprano of our time. Every Reactor I’ve come across has absolutely been blown away by Amira. I have subscribed to your Chanel & would love your input.
Cheers Graeme. ps. Amira won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of 9 singing an Opera Aria & I was not an Opera fan until I heard her sing. Now I must listen to her daily. Voice of an Angel.

Presume you’re referencing copyright restrictions. Other Reactors do what you do; ie. have several breaks during the video, & that seems to override the algorithms ok. Even the live concert performances seem to be ok, provided you break it up enough. Anyway, I really appreciate you’re reply & hopefully, will hear a reaction shortly. One that I feel would not have restrictions is ‘’Ave Maria by Gomez, at the Canisius Church ‘’ when Amira was 11. It is more of a home style video, but one of my favourites, with her powerful , but angelic voice.

Nessun Dorma is an aria from Puccini's opera Turandot (most famously sung by the late great Luciano Pavarotti). I'm not an opera expert but I've heard this sung by professional opera singers who (honestly) weren't as good. Although they both have degrees in music, Rob was trained in opera and, while Austin's training would have included some opera, his degree is in musical theatre.

You asked about the odds of two country boys being able to pull this off. ****Spoiler alert**** The odds are better than you might think. Austin we all know comes from a musical theater background which did include some classical training. The shocking reveal the Rob made was that he was in the classical music track in college 15 years ago. He revealed this during the premiere and on an IG live session. Again, that was 15 years ago so he did an amazing job.
