- With new restrictions imposed in Wales and Scotland, i believe we are now at a cross roads with saving parkrun.
Wales have imposed a limit of 50 and Scotland 500, with no science backing up their numbers and it's time for us, the public to tell them!
If we don't make a stand now, are we to be subjected to continual non-scientific restrictions, when the UK government already has the science and facts to prove that parkrun and all running events in outdoors are safe?

For those outside UK, i would urge you all to contact your local politicians whether parkruns are restricted or not at this stage and share with them the science to ensure they are not impacted in the future.

Well done Donato have to agree with you. My local Conservative MP regularly runs and volunteers with his wife and children at parkrun.

Totally agree with every word. Pubs in England will be jammed on New Years Eve (including people who will travel in from Scotland and Wales) so if he stops Parkruns in England the week after - it just adds to the fuel of the rising anger of decent people who have actually tried to follow the rules. I've emailed my Councillor.

Mate this is a great vid. These parks are ours and these runs are helping people in countless ways with their mental health. We should just keep them going and ignore the "guidelines" enough is enough. Also people who are fit and healthy tend to get on very well with the virus!
As much as we can keep running, the parkrun organisers have to abide by the rules. Be sure to contact your local politician to ensure they keep going and reinstate in Wales 👍🏼

Like many I do not understand the government policy in England, Wales or Scotland . I can sit in a pub surrounded by any number of people but we now face a potential banning on future events that promote and improve cardiovascular health not just parkruns. I am hopeful in England that we continue with the status quo allowing people to follow the science backed advice. allowing us to continue to enjoy running or any other event that promotes health and wellness
Rules regarding face coverings are a waste of time anyway as shops, railways stations ect ect don’t enforce them.
The ‘medically exempt’ rule is complete nonsense and open to abuse.
Shops & pubs couldn’t care less - they’re only interested in £££

Rules are inconsistent and quite frankly ridiculous. The world is an utterly depressing place. If they take away exercise then there really is nothing left.

I agree man. I enjoy running alone too. But parkruns are amazing for so so many people. And they know that!
I' am confused with this news and I enjoy running the Park Runs regular at 9am Saturday Mornings. What as runners/volunteers marshals have to understand is NOBODY knowns enough about how COVID spreads, not even scientists. We also have to take into consideration how park runs are organised before 8.30am before any Park run tacks place. The Running Director (RD), make sure the venue is safe to go ahead that Saturday at 9am, volunteers who direct the cars coming into the carpark, the volunteer to do the briefing at 8.50am for those new commers who gather at Tourist for info. and those who hand out and collect the Barcodes. The Government may well look into this as a risk for COVID? I rather go through this suspending park runs than have this first person to be seriously ill or even die attending a Park Run. To me and you that's seems highly unlikely. Let's hope that the suspended Park runs don't go on for months and No more Park Runs are Suspended!
Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment Amos. You are right that a lot of people don't know enough about the virus, but the facts are zero cases at parkrun after 1,000's of events worldwide. No need to suspend any of these.
