Another fantastic tank and very interesting video! Congratulations to all of you guys - your tanks are amazing and I love the aesthetic look of your photos and videos. Definitely my favourite aquascaping channel here on youtube. I live in Vienna and will definitely visit your gallery sooner or later! Cheers!
Dear Robert, thank you for your words. We're glad you find it useful and inspirational. More video is coming in the upcoming days hope you will enjoy those as well. You live very close to us. I think especially if you're into the hobby this worth a quick trip. The showroom is pretty unique in the EU. You need to see this in person sometime. You're always welcome on your visit.
This was so helpful! I watched it twice. What I got out of it: One can trim tops of stem plants and replant them without sticking them into the aquasoil! I didn't know that. The bushy parts of the other plants hold them in place and they send roots down, cool! I also learned how you use a skimmer; I don't currently use a skimmer on my 10 gal tank (~30l); I just raise the outflow sometimes to mix it up and oxygenate the water. Your use of different scissors was helpful too, as well as your treatment of the carpeting plants! I also would not have thought of skipping the replacement of GH booster; I use Seiryu rocks as well, so this is a good point. Anyway, thank you for the great video!

In the beginning of the video i was utterly in disbelief why you cut down those beautiful stem plants which i thought is so stunning view but...after you trim it like a bald headed old man i was relieved when you put it back the freshly cut top parts of the plants and im convince that it looks more neat and amazingly pretty!😍...thank you for open up my mind that such technique will help me to be more prolific with better ideas to this enjoyable hobby. New sub here from philippines.
This video was particularly useful to me as I often use these plants. I've always pulled out old stems when replanting the nice tops in the past, but I will use your technique from now on! Thanks!
Only recently started looking at aquascaping videos and trying to get some education before spending money to get started. I really enjoy your videos! You guys have a nice mix to teach how to aquascape but also videos showing mature tanks and different styles. I really enjoy the guest scapers! I dont know if you have already done it, but a video about the different component like skimmers, filters, co2..... to help understand when they are needed and why would be most helpful!! Thanks again and you guys easily have the best channel!!! Just wish i lived near you to visit.
R. rotundifolia is impervious to algae in high light level tanks. At least my reddish orange form is. Its right there with Vallisneria as never being a host to blue green, green spot or hair algaes..as my tank cycled. I wouldn't call it a fast grower..but as I said,my tank is relatively newly set up.
Just beautiful! I really like the replanting method. Haven't seen that done before, something to learn everyday! Sadly, I haven't managed to make my stem plants bushy yet. One question though, with this bushy growth, wouldn't the stems below rot from not getting light? Also is it ok to plant a few stems together instead of planting each stem individually? Thanks for making these vids!
Dear James, thanks for your feedback. We really appreciate that. Replanting is a good method to reach the best color with your stem plants. The dense group is only an issue if you have a lower intensity light. We usually prefer the high-intensity light for this reason. It's ok to plant the stems in a group. Will have a nicer effect. Cheers! :)
Visited Green Aqua in Mid March and the Gallery is beautiful! Love your work! I was wondering if you ever run out of space during replantings? Upon initial setup, I know you are supposed to plant as heavily as possible, but how do we balance that out with the replantings we will do as the setup ages? Are there issues of overcrowding for plants?
Great video! Love rotala. But ive got a question, lowering nitrate makes rotala hra more reddish? My hc cuba tends to turn yellowish, so time to time i dose nitrogen, will dosing nitrogen affect my rotala redness?

nice video and tank :) Other question: which filter(s) or Liters/H do you recommend for a 120cm tank. Or what are your experiences? 1 filter setup, 2 filters etc? :)

Thank-you Green Aqua for showing your red plant tip-replanting tip :-) Question: which fish are these? Also, have they been in the tank for a while? (they look so small)
Hi Bobbi, we do have Celestichthys margaritatus in this tank. Probably only a few months now as we opened up in May and we used new fishes after the relocation.
Hello. My rotalas were becoming red and then I started dosing fertilizers for the first time, doing so under the Estimated Index regime: algae was gone in 3 days and everything looks great, but the rotalas are turning green. I'm sure this has to do with the Nitrogen which is about 15-20 ppm. How can I make them red again? Lower the nitrogen? to what ppm? Thanks
Enough nitrogen is produced by the filter to satisfy the plant needs, plus plants will get enough Nitrogen from the soil. Please check out our fertilizing mastercourse for more.
Hi I'm from india ur tank is very very nice, I'm having 7x2x2 feet planted tank with discuss fish. Two sun sun 304b canisters, 4.5 kg pressurised co2, 350w diy led lights , river sand as substrate. Dosing all kinds of liquid fertilizer and iron daily . My problem is red plants are not like yours(colour) and diatoms, green algae problem. Never in a stable condition . Tank age is 6 months. Any suggestions please...
@@GreenAquaShop Do you use ONLY pure RO here? Or do you use any remineralisation additives to add some Ca/Mg salts to finally rise a bit the GH (TDS) of your pure RO water which is next used for water changes?
It has been a year since your comment, so I am not sure if you have figured it by now. The white device is called Chihiros doctor. Its supposed to help you with algae prevention.
How often can you replant the tops anyway? After a few times doing this, you'll have 2-3 times the plant mass in the same spot. Doesn't that cause problems?
I really love this aquascape, and I am just getting started in the hobby. I got 1 question... Howmany liters of substrate are used for this scape? seems to be over 12L (9L +3L)? Love this aquascape :D
Cheers Nick, thank you! :) Yup 9 L soil, 2.5 liters of substrate and if you want the best result, better to cap the soil with a soil powder. So that is another 3L. Some may will left but that is always great to use later when needed or the soil is depleted.
Hi ! If I may ask, how many hours do you keep the light on ? Because i have the same Twinstar 600S but still not suceeded in growing the red plants. Thanks before ! :)
It has been a year since your comment, so I am not sure if you have figure it by now. The white device is called Chihiros doctor. Its supposed to help you with algae prevention.
When you add fertilisers from Different brand doesn’t that change the chemical composition of the fertiliser?Example dosing ADA Mineral and Seachem Iron, potassium at the same time ? Or do you dose it after couple of hour apart from each other?
No, these do not react with each other in this dilution at all, very safe to add them at the same time to the tank, we're actually dosing them with two hands simultaneously, one next to each other. 💡
Question, guys: Can you keep the rotala red without co2 or DIY co2? I have a very small nano and don't want to spend on co2 equipment (I have a bigger tank that already has one)
the flaming red plant is rotala hra? this plant can reach redness? because in tropica guidelines, it says orange colouration, what is the different between rotala rotundifolia vs rotala hra?
Hi Mohandas, thank you for your words 😊👍 The more light you're using the more some of the plants spreading sidewards and not upwards. Rotala Sp Green or Rotala Vietnam Hra is that kind of plants.
Hey Green Aqua ive returned to one of your old videos to compare it with my new scape. im using a Twinstar 600s on my ADA 60P but am having little luck not only with turning my H'ra red but also keeping my HC Cuba healthy. i have a lot of experience wit HC Cuba as it is my carpet in my nano and it is lush! i found the trick is to use super high intensity lighting. my concern for my 60p is perhaps the light isnt bright enough despite everyone else saying they do so well with the Twinstar 600s? my HC looks dark and small leaved, definitely not as healthy as the plants in your aquarium shown in the video. i was wondering if you had any advice? CO2 levels are high . As for the H'ra is it just a waiting game for the colour to grow in? Thankyou so much id appreciate any type of response. :)
Hey, well, we have used h'ra with twinstar before and it turned nice and red. Strong lighting is definitely a requirement for plants to turn red (red color is usually a natural protection agains strong light) and twinstar is known to be a little less bright then say ADA AquaSky lights (but they do not bring out the reds that well). So I think ferts and CO2 and soil also play a strong role. HC on the other hand needs to have really strong lighting, so in that case I suspect that the light is not enough, especially when you place that on the substrate. We like using it up near the top, it works well there. At the bottom I would use Monte Carlo instead, that has bigger roots, so it's easier to keep down and also it's a little hardier. Not much though. Cheers.
A növény megkapaszkodik. Azóta eltelt néhány nap és a levágott, visszagudott szálak már nagyon szépen fejlődnek! :)
Hello victor. Thank you for this extremely informative video! I was wondering what glass in and outflow exactly you're using over here. Keep up the awesome channel. I'm learning so much from you guys
@@GreenAquaShop the ada lily pipe v and inflow p? I'm looking for a glass pipe set for my 55l dennerle scapers tank but I'm struggling with the Inflow. The ads inflow p is 23 cm but measuring on my soil I have a max of 20cm.do you have any advice for me? Thank you
Sometimes in smaller tanks there is not enough height to proper place the inflow in the tank. I would suggest you use a nano inflow in those cases, those are a bit shorter. 💡
It depends on the condition of the stems. If you neglect the trimming and the stems grow higher the bottom part will start to deteriorate. That's when you really need to do what you described.
It does not matter how you plant. The growth will be dependent on you light, ferts, CO2. Dense planting will show quicker results, otherwise you'll have to be more patient, that's it. Also bigger plant mass helps with the biology and helps prevent algae, this is why we always suggest everybody to plant densely from day one.
@@GreenAquaShop Are plants like pogostemon erectus and limnophila aromatica ok to plant 3-4 stems together and another bundle of 3-4 stems right next to it? Do you mean plant densely by more stems planted in bundles or more stems planted close to each other?
Stopped to avoid the mess because of the flow with the trimmed plant parts. :) This way you easily can keep the trimmed plants in one group as they float also easier to remove them.
Thank you for your words. We're glad you like it. The new episode will be out next week! In case if you have any feedback/suggestion we will note that for the future production. Cheers :)
We use reverse osmosis water for water changes - Hungarian tap water is really hard. After doing that we need to remineralize it to increase the water hardness to GH 3 or TDS 120, we used Green Aqua GH Plus for that. There's a tutorial video on the subject on the channel (CO2 and water parameters).
Sorry if I missed this, but i thought you mentioned that you didn’t need to remineralize because of the seiryu stone in the tank. Is that Mg that you are adding at the end, or is it a GH booster....and in that case, would you therefore be remineralizing the water? Love the videos and thanks again! W
Uprooting is a problem, it would stir the substrate and you can have serious issues later. I would just trim the stems to the bottom, replant the tops. And if the whole thing gets out of control I would just rescape the whole tank. After all, a refreshment is welcome in about a year anyway. Depending on the scaper of course... Some like it for much longer...
@@GreenAquaShop Thanks! And what about carpeting plants like the Cuba? Is it true that whatever you do, they will eventually float, or can you trim them enough to keep them attached to the substrate? I'm having problems with them growing up vertically, i have co2 and enough light... Maybe the problem is the fertilizer
Yeah, cuba is a bitch. :D Well, if you trim it like every 4 days for a year, it will probably stay in place. Would you do it? Strong light is a must though. Otherwise it will be leggy.
No problem. It depends... Do you have CO2? If yes, Monte Carlo is better than Cuba, leaves are a bit bigger, but similar shape. Or eleocharis, or anything else really. Without CO2 you have a problem. Marsilea Crenata would be great, but it is a slow grower, you'll need a lot to look good.

Thanks
We have zero in our tanks with the ADA ferts.
@@GreenAquaShop Thanks! So how come having no nitrogen is no problem? Could you explain. Thanks again!
Enough nitrogen is produced by the filter to satisfy the plant needs, plus plants will get enough Nitrogen from the soil. Please check out our fertilizing mastercourse for more.
Do you use two different timers like others suggest? One for the Light and other for the Co2 Supply?
They usually on different timing so yes 👍
Hi I'm from india ur tank is very very nice, I'm having 7x2x2 feet planted tank with discuss fish. Two sun sun 304b canisters, 4.5 kg pressurised co2, 350w diy led lights , river sand as substrate. Dosing all kinds of liquid fertilizer and iron daily . My problem is red plants are not like yours(colour) and diatoms, green algae problem. Never in a stable condition . Tank age is 6 months.
Any suggestions please...
Discus = warm water. DIY light - nah....
Nice tank! How hard is your water here in tank, GH=?
It's pure RO. We do not measure GH. Just TDS sometime. TDS is around 120-150ppm.
@@GreenAquaShop Do you use ONLY pure RO here? Or do you use any remineralisation additives to add some Ca/Mg salts to finally rise a bit the GH (TDS) of your pure RO water which is next used for water changes?
hi, what u think if i use tropica specialist ad premium fertilizer(daily dosing) with excel? will be ok?
Could work 👍
Great educational video Victor, nice to see how its done, great tanks as always
Viktor is a big magician. 😉💪🏻
Beautiful tank. What is the smoke effect thing
No problems with it 👍
Cool video Viktor !
Thank you my friend 👍😊
Lighting tutorial ;)
What is the white device underneath the surface skimmer? Is it a co2 diffuser?

Hey scaper, let me know about the stones that you used in this wonderfull aquascape tank, please. Very interesting. Tell me please...
They are Seiryu stones mate. Cheers.
When you add fertilisers from
Different brand doesn’t that change the chemical composition of the fertiliser?Example dosing ADA Mineral and Seachem Iron, potassium at the same time ? Or do you dose it after couple of hour apart from each other?
No, these do not react with each other in this dilution at all, very safe to add them at the same time to the tank, we're actually dosing them with two hands simultaneously, one next to each other. 💡
Green Aqua Thank you so much for the clarification 👍
You're welcome, good luck with your scape and pls stay tuned.
Question, guys: Can you keep the rotala red without co2 or DIY co2? I have a very small nano and don't want to spend on co2 equipment (I have a bigger tank that already has one)
CO2 systems for nano tanks can be really inexpensive. No, you can not.
@@GreenAquaShop Sorry, I realize my question was badly phrased. What if I use DIY co2 on a nano? Would that work to keep it red? Thanks
Reds are not mainly because of CO2. They are red because of the light, and the lack of nitrogen.
15:43 may I ask what is the white thing you put in?
It's a Twinstar sterilizer. ;)
@@GreenAquaShop thank you so much 🙏
Köszönjük, valahol 8kg környékén lehet a valóság. 😃
the flaming red plant is rotala hra? this plant can reach redness? because in tropica guidelines, it says orange colouration, what is the different between rotala rotundifolia vs rotala hra?
Rotundifolia is orange, Hra is red. If you have low nitrates and good lighting.
Will Rotala Sp. Green and Rotala Vietnam Hra grow well without the addition of pressured c02 to the tank?
They would grow but do not expect the same appearance. (density, colorful)
Hey Victor.....you ever work with Uns 60 U tank?
Balazs here. No, we never used that. Cheers.
Do you have the set up video for this tank?
is it okay to plant the rotalas with different height? does it affect the gowth rate of the shorter ones?
No. It is perfectly ok.
hello is the twinstar s series lumen enough for hc cuba
Yes. Definitely.
Beautiful, congratulations
Do you need to add Magnesium to keep a good ratio of Ca:Mg with seiryu stones?
Yes, we do add the same salts back as we would do in a no-stone tank.
Green Aqua but in the video says, “we don’t need to remineralize because of the seiryu stones”
Good thing about this hobby is that sometimes we can't even agree on one thing in the same house. Haha.
how many time need to get that steady aquarium......??????
It depends on what tech you use, how many plants you use...
Hi Victor,
This is another beautiful tank by Greenaqua. What is the secret behind the horizontal growth of Rotala Plants?
Thanks,
Hi Mohandas, thank you for your words 😊👍
The more light you're using the more some of the plants spreading sidewards and not upwards.
We use the 13mm glass in- and outflows in that tank.
Great video and great tank. Make a video on the filter cleaning process!
Thank you, noted! :)
Can you use the HC Cuba trimmings?
Are we need to totally remove old stems after few months...? I mean lower part of the stems after trimming three or four times
It depends on the condition of the stems. If you neglect the trimming and the stems grow higher the bottom part will start to deteriorate. That's when you really need to do what you described.
Green Aqua Got it. Thanks for the update
You're welcome.
Nice setup
I asked this about the 650 tank as well. You said you're using seachem excel, how much do you put in this tank every day?
Hi Randy, we're dosing the factory recommendation daily.
@@GreenAquaShop Thanks, does it matter when I add the excel?
@@randy1817 nope!
What a great video.. Thanks for you time/work. Great info for me as a beginner..
Thank you 👍
What’s that thing on the left which releasing something white?
The panting back for the cut is plant back to substrate? TQ
Yes Boey. Cheers.
Amazing tanks! Could you please give more details of your ferts regime? I would really appreciate it!
Thank you :) We do use fertilizers daily. Brighty K and Mineral 1ml/20L/day
Thanks for your answer! Green Aqua what about N and P?
Not dosing that.
Green Aqua thanks for the info!
Can someone explain how this works to get good growth? Isn't it best to plant one stem individually and leave an inch apart for the lower leaves?
It does not matter how you plant. The growth will be dependent on you light, ferts, CO2. Dense planting will show quicker results, otherwise you'll have to be more patient, that's it. Also bigger plant mass helps with the biology and helps prevent algae, this is why we always suggest everybody to plant densely from day one.
@@GreenAquaShop Are plants like pogostemon erectus and limnophila aromatica ok to plant 3-4 stems together and another bundle of 3-4 stems right next to it? Do you mean plant densely by more stems planted in bundles or more stems planted close to each other?
Do you guy remember what you dosed? im thinking of doing a 60P iwagumi with a Twinstar 600s and co2
There's a dosing video, out today. ;) Enjoy!

Is there a build video of this tank? I cant seem to find it!
It was a long time ago. I do not have it in the vid, unfortunately.
Great video. Beautiful tank!! Do the Clithon snails have clear or white eggs?
Randy honestly with clithon we do not experience visual issues with the eggs. It is more like nerite problem, but has white one too
Thanks, looking forward to seeing more videos..
It looks like you turned off the filtration, did you do that to avoid plant debri gettin in the filter ??
Stopped to avoid the mess because of the flow with the trimmed plant parts. :) This way you easily can keep the trimmed plants in one group as they float also easier to remove them.
What is that white round equipment near the filter?
It's a Twinstar sterilizer. ;)
@@GreenAquaShop is this a must have item for planted aquarium ?
Not at all. In fact we only use it in big tanks nowadays - if at all...
New subscriber here. Very informative. Appreciate the time and effort it took you to show case this beautiful setup. Thumbs up my friend
Thank you for your words. We're glad you like it. The new episode will be out next week! In case if you have any feedback/suggestion we will note that for the future production. Cheers :)
Great video!!! Thanks for share it! :)
Thanks for watching us, Alexander.
excuse me, could I ask what is the powder you added at the end of the video?
We use reverse osmosis water for water changes - Hungarian tap water is really hard. After doing that we need to remineralize it to increase the water hardness to GH 3 or TDS 120, we used Green Aqua GH Plus for that. There's a tutorial video on the subject on the channel (CO2 and water parameters).
Green Aqua thank you very much.
You are welcome!
Very nice video. Enjoy it
Thank you :)
Amazing
You guys do great work on your aquariums. I can't find any Chiton snails in my area. Have you ever tried Malaysian Trumpet snails?
Thank you! We do use Nerite snails and Clithon mainly. These are really effective ones.
What do you do when you already trimmed many times and the old stems occupy too much space? Do you uproot them?
@@GreenAquaShop what carpeting plants do you suggest for a beginner, that do not float if kept alone for 4 days? Sorry for all these questions :'D
NAgyon jó videó és az angol is *5-ös :) szép akvárium ;) remélem hamarosan feljutok az új üzletbe és a galériába
