This is fantastic! Franz Liszt himself would have loved it - because the modern instruments have so rich sonorous colors - and Lang Lang knows every inch of it!
Goosebumps... 1) Amazing piece of music, 2) insanely good technical performance, 3) incredible ability to memorize ALL those notes, 4) ...all those notes!
You don't memorize notes; you memorize patterns. as you wouldnt memorize letters but words and sentences. There are four pillars of memory: visual memory, muscle memory, auditory memory, and structural memory. When you combine these four, memorizing pieces becomes much easier. While this piece is technically very challenging, memorizing it is not the hardest part.
He is easily the best interpreter of this piece by far. Can do musically whatever he wants with any part (wether you like it or not)and is very creative with it.
@@pianista-mediocre What do you mean better?? Music is subjective, people have different opinions of what the best performances are. Lang Lang's and Hamelin's interpretations are both incredible. It depends on the person what the "best" is.

I can understand what a great artist he is because I've been trying to learn this piece for a couple of months now and I'm almost on the verge of it being especially difficult the section Who's War 1 is psychedelic how hard it is not to talk about a continuation of Candana it's hard at all and a pace that's impossible to keep up with and then there's Presto Allegro what is this hard stuff it's psychedelic also starting from a hard sixth

"Be like " is poor grammar, written by a fool who is impressed with glitter but not with real gold or real substance. Lang Lang's body movements do nothing to the sound and are just for show. The real criticism we real pianists have is that he plays anything marked loud(forte) extra loudly, anything marked soft (piano) super softly, anything fast (presto or vif) way too quickly.. Everything he plays sounds like an old hooker wearing too much makeup to cover her facial wrinkles , too short a skirt to cover her wrinkled legs and her blouse as open as possible to promote her sagging bosom. He puts down the sustain pedal too much to blur his uneven passages. He demonstrates no subtlety or understanding of the structure and history of any piece he performs. A critic may have written that this young showman is the "new Liszt" but List was not noted for banging the bass, rushing and changing temp on a whim, or putting on an act. Look it up.

Composed by a showman for a showman.
this is my favourite recording of this piece! especially those bass notes at 14:50
Are those notes not in the sheet music or does Lang Lang play them in a unique way?
@@stacattos Yeah Lang Lang played them lower than what was written in the score.
he tends to do that for a lot of the pieces and it's genius
He also simplified the rest of the notes in the left hand within those measures. Doesn't hurt the overall effect but makes it way easier to play
Always love his unique interpretations❤️
