I just got my ES24TX module and a pile of EP2 Rx set up, Thanks John! Something I just learned, ExpressLRS does not support model ID currently. So, make darn sure you have the right model selected in your TX before you power up your model!!! the safety net that most all modern radio links have using model Id prevent the receiver linking if the wrong model profile is selected in the TX. I know back in the day when multi model capable radios were just hitting the market many MANY models were lost due to the wrong model selected in the TX!

Best tutorial i've seen on elrs firmware updates. I'm in the process of updating all 14 of my quads and i just recieved my module and 1st reciever. Thank you for sharing, very helpfull.
RX was the last thing I needed for my next build, so I decided to try ELRS instead of Crossfire or Tracer, and this video made it painless to get the TX working. Now I just need to build, and if everything goes as smoothly as updating the TX did, I just might convert my other two quads over.
What I did for New Happymodel Box construction is assemble the box and board in the radio . Get the box and the board on the pins and then insert the screws to hold the board in the correct position. Makes it fit better and the new style box holds better in the Radio once its in tight and the holding clips are forced out.
My ELRS 2.4Ghz arrived half way through this video, looking forward to playing about with it and see if I can create a couple of useful Lua scripts, although I'll have to be creative.

It wasn’t distance related. I used a close laptop and a farther away desktop. What I did find is that RC6 worked perfectly with the same external devices.

They must had updated Betaflight passthrough since RC7?.. which is what I'm still on. I had to bridge the boot pads on my EP2 & EP1receivers when I flashed firmware to the reciever via Betaflight passthrough. I'm assuming your Iflight FC is powering your reciever by usb? Thanks for the video it will help many new people. I wished they where video like this when I first started messing around with ELRS which was months ago lol..! PS: I was only successful flashing by Wifi on the EP1 & EP2 when they was new ..first time flashing them. After that it has been hit or miss! Best bet to flash Betaflight passthrough 😀 Also my 2.4 HM module & Tx16s on 2.3.12 nightly build does the same thing by not showing the packets rate in the top box when changing packet rate on the module. I already had the TBS lua on my Radiomaster tx16s before I tried ELRS. I'm pretty sure crsshot is working because I tested Tracer for a month before I even bought the ELRS stuff. And with the 500hz refreshing the EP1 or 2 is just as fast latency wise as the Tracer.

Hi I received the same module from a seller on ebay and i was shocked that it doesnt have a fan so i thought its fake. I am still confused how to setup this module in my radiomaster tx12
I got my happymodel 2.4 setup thanks to you and at least 16 hours of me pulling my hair out and cussing. Seems the only problem i have is the tx power is on 10mw and it wont allow me to go higher... any ideas?
Make sure you're on the latest firmware and the latest LUA for that firmware. If that doesn't work, get on the ELRS Discord and ask them directly for help. Personally, I haven't seen any issues changing TX power, so I wouldn't be of much help.

CRSF Shot is embedded in the firmware. EdgeTX has it in the mainline Release Candidates. OTX requires a nightly. To configure a model, just enable External module and select CRSF as the protocol.

when pushing in a module ... should you not power of the radio first (at best disconnect battery)??? imagine it is powered up... the pins bent and make a short .. you may burn your mainboard that way

I've inserted and removed modules with the radio powered on/off over the last 8 years and have yet to burn a motherboard or anything else for that matter. And I remove/replace stuff on these radios FAR FAR more than the average bear. When I learned to fly full sized planes, and the plane did something I didn't expect, I'd look at my instructor and her response: "Fly the PLANE!" I guess it stuck because my response would be, "Fly the radio--i.e. don't bend your pins."

It turns out the LED does indicate bind by staying solid but this wasn't in any vlog I went to or in the ELRS notes I could find. It's an important point because if you can't confirm this you can't trouble shoot properly. I haven't build a quad for a while and tracing the recourse pins is very frustrating. If the RX doesn't work then it's likely the recourse thats wrong but it's a feature of all BaseFlight descendants that UART X and whats on the FC board are rarely the same description. The resource might say TX 1 and the ports in BF will say UART n. Note, I am recycling old gear or stuff I purchased a while ago but open source should be about affordability. If it takes 12months to get everything together or you are buying stuff on sale, why do these projects ignore the low end. Cheers and thank for replying.

For *EVERY SINGLE PERSON* that says "not enough info" there is *ANOTHER PERSON* who says, "too much info...I know how to bind my stuff--just get to it" The trick is to find the balance. So yes, videos are going to omit some information that some people might need--but that others do not. I don't know what "bind certification" is. Regarding the LED state--they don't all perform the same way, so sometimes we opt to leave it to the viewer to read their book/manual/instructions so they know what to expect because if the LED status for every receiver needs to be covered--that's a video unto itself. Opensource doesn't have anything to do with affordability. By definition, Opensource is free. Affordability is determined by the hardware using Opensource. I also wouldn't make the assumption just because something is Opensource means it's cheap. Total misnomer. Finally, value is relative. What may seem cheap to you might be very expensive to me, and vice verse. Nobody is ignoring anything. You can buy an ELRS rx for $12. I don't know of any other RF tech in the world with as much capability for such a low cost of entry.

Voltage applied is voltage applied whether plugging in or turning on via software. I don't see that it matters. Pyrodrone has them for $11.99 but they're out of stock. Same process, Edge or OTX. Edge is new and people need to know it works on that platform.

If the slots on cards are at risk of shorting, no. There’s not much risk imho to shorting these if they’re inserted straight. Super easy to do on a PC Card. Apples and oranges. Using your logic, maybe we should start turning off circuit breakers before we plug a wire into a live outlet.
Running LUA on my TX16S wouldn't work. Guys make sure you turn on CRSF in your external rf in your channel settings or else it will not work. Also, computer won't connect to your tx wifi unless you input the password. Which is, "expresslrs"
I've just flashed Edge Tx , everything is working good except the Aux switch .It's staying at 2000 and when I switch it goes up then just locks there .got me baffled at the moment .lol

1) I believe the largest capacity 18650 you can buy is 3600mah. I usually get my 18650’s and other Li-Ions from 18650batterystore.com and if they don’t have what I want I will source the batteries they rate highly elsewhere. 2) Dim your screen if you can. 3) Calibrate your radio. This is a tough system to beat for quads. We're discussing it in discord right now and may give tracer a go for helis.

LUA needs help on this project. It's functional but sparse. They do version checking but don't show version info. No information on flash success.

Can you only use Happymodel ExpressLRS receivers for this module to work or can you bind flysky receivers with the expressLRS?
You cannot bind FlySky rx's to ExpressLRS tx's to my knowledge.
Perhaps the rx was to far away from your computer when you tried it to flash via wifi?

I'm not aware of any differences in LUA scripts for configuring ELRS TXs. As far as I know they all work from the same script.

Make sure Ch5 is disarmed. You can't change values when it is armed.

Hi, my EP2 RX blinks the led slowly and doesn't go into wifi mode. what should I do?
I loaded the LUA script and it hangs on Loading ?/??? What does that mean? I noticed that nothing is lit inside the ELRS module box!

Now we are on V3 it's just a pain. For example device RX or Tx model name or ID. ...and then zero. Too many cooks.
I don't follow. v3 is no harder to use than v2. You don't have to use model ID if you don't want to use it.

It has limited full resolution channels and you would need something to interpret Crossfire output.

No. OpenTX is pretty unsupportive of the PFV hobby or just very slow. That's why EdgeTX exists.

1) I believe the largest capacity 18650 you can buy is 3600mah. I usually get my 18650’s and other Li-Ions from 18650batterystore.com and if they don’t have what I want I will source the batteries they rate highly elsewhere.
2) Dim your screen if you can.

4) Make sure your internal MPM is off if you’re just working on an external module.
