One of the problems I had when I received my radiomaster zorro ELRS was that I could not bind to my meteor 75 ELRS, and it was that the receiver is SPI and it was in version 1. And the radio in version 2. Luckily I asked in a facebook group what I should do and ended up joining an ELRS server or discord group and they helped me at all. The only thing I had to do is just update the drone receiver to 2 and then I could finally bind it to the zorro. For the next time, I would never buy SPI receiver type, definitely. I'm grateful that you make this kind of videos to help a lot of people on this problems. Thanks!
I hace quiet the same problem my sorrow it’s on 3.3.0, and I actualise my meteor 85 on the firmware 4.4.2. I could bind the radio but when I get in beta flight on the receptor screen, the bars doesn’t move at all. The roll, pitch, yaw and T decenas the number onto 988. And the quad rolling like crazy. Some one know what could be the problem. I have the maps Chanel aert on the radio and the dron. 😢
@@mustelaputorus Same for me : bought a Happymodel X12 ELRS Pro with an integrated SPI ELRS Rx. Despite flashing the board with several BF firmware versions, with an Rx ELRS FW 3.x, it is impossible to bind this board to my BetaFPV TX micro ELRS. Last time I buy a board with an ELRS SPI Rx. I will finish mounting an UART ELRS Rx as usual. Very disapointed by this product.
Good info mate. Don't forget the bind process. Most newer elrs receivers can enter the bind phrase be powering on and off the FC 3 times in quick succession. This will force the FC to enter bind mode. Don't bother typing bind_rx into the CLI of betaflight....this simply wont work. Also make sure that the ELRX RX firmware is the sameas the ELRS TX firmware. If not then they will also not bind.

Supported packet rates is what fixed it for me. Thanks. But it took me a bit to realize that F500 and 500Hz were not the same thing. I saw the 500 and moved on.

What do you mean? V3 is supported in BF4.4, and manufacturers are now dropping SPI from their boards in favour of onboard ELRS receivers over UART, for the consumer there is no detriment, rather benefit as they can now get all further updates.. Also why support a protocol like SPI when a full onboard UART is better
@@DarrenAllattELRS is a convoluted process to get up and running. If it is so wonderful why does it take several TH-camr's 1 hour each to explain the process? The whole ELRS idea with the manufacturers doing one thing and ELRS not getting hardware to certify and blah blah blah. I bought a ELRS BNF from a top manufacturer and had to connect to WIFI to figure out which receiver I had because they did not bother to document it. Then it's name was not listed in the ELRS Configurator.
My ELRS Tutorials are around 7 minutes, if you are watching 1 hour tutorials on ELRS, then someone is wasting your time… Yeah I feel your pain on manufacturers not involving the developers, they get pissed because they work for free to make the system, companies produce hardware and make a profit, then the ELRS team have to provide customer support. It’s pretty shit in that regard… Yeah they typically use the DIY firmware out of the box which can confuse new users with a target mismatch.
It doesn't sound like a very good top manufacturer if they didn't even document what RX target they use so you can update the firmware. SPI ELRS is something I think the ELRS devs regret manufacturers pushing them into... since it meant the RX code became of betaflight and end users have to play the this or that version of betaflight to make stuff work. So getting rid of this (SPI ELRS) entirely is a good step forward, as is unified targets so that firmware builds/updates will be much simpler in the future...

Technically yes, but BF4.4 has a watered down version of the ELRS code (hence the limited packet rates) but you don’t want BF to have to have ELR code in it, makes BF heavier and more process intensive than it needs to be. You also don’t want BF having to worry about ELRS code, when they should be focusing on their own code. Long term, AIO’s will move from onboard receivers over SPI to UART where they will have a dedicated processor for ELRS and it won’t be the job of BF to do that.
Hi, now that official betaflight 4.4 is launched, if I have a mobula7 with SPI ELRS2.0, I just need to flash the FC and it should be able to bind to my ELRS3.0 TX?
Just so I understand you correctly, you have a Tango2 with a Multi-Protocol Module attached? Which Multi-Protocol module do you have? And your Mobula7 HD is that the ELRS version or the FrSky Version.

I have a different problem. I had no problem binding the expresslrs module to the transmitter. the problem I'm having is stick input. I even tried switching the TX and RX thinking I might have put them backwards and that didn't solve the problem. It's a brand new transmitter brand new flight controller everything's working except for stick input. I know I'm missing something simple like a lua script.
A little more detail is required here... I. E. stick input is a problem in what way? No movement on the receiver page in betaflight configuration? Wrong channels moving? Moving the wrong way? With what receiver/TX combo? Firmware versions? I. E. If its SPI RX, and you have the wrong RF mode set, no channels will move. If the channels are not in the order BF expects, wrong channels move.
@@pfeerick I just uploaded a video explaining or answering most of the questions you've asked as far as stick input zero. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the receiver. I'm making sure all my firmware versions of the proper before I do anything else including my Express lrs versions
if I understand this correctly, what you are saying is, to flash ELRS v2 to your TX from your phone when you want to fly a Quad with an SPI RX, then you when you are flying a quad with a normal RX, to then re-flash v3.2? Or, just update your ExpressLRS SPI Quads to Betaflight 4.4 and you are good to go!
@@DarrenAllatt one month ago there was no official EalRS 3.x support for SPI Boards. Maybe ur a guy who is very satisfied woth all settings and your tune. every BF update brings new features and filter which can lead to a diff flight performance. This is just one reason why not to update your FC firmware. But nowadays ELRS 3.x is supported

I swear expresslrs is going to make me leave the hobby! I have struggled for days to bind my new tiny whoop to my new radiomaster ranger. Days. I've had Bardwell on loop trying to figure it and after your video I'm all kinds of confused. Take my money dji at least then I can fly
What’s confusing? What tiny whoop do you have and what radio is your ranger plugged into? Have you successfully flashed your ranger or where is that up to?
I have the radiomaster tx12, not mark ii. And the new ranger micro elrs plugged into the Jr port. The whoop is a eachine uz65 1s. The radio seems to be working, I can go to the controller, go through the rangers' options, hit bind and it searches, turn on wifi, it's there. I think the problem is the elrs receiver and possibly assigning arm and air/angle switches. The uz65 comes up on betaflight as a spi but it has a separate receiver, it's not an all in 1 board. And the receiver led stays red. It doesn't blink, change colors, I press the button on receiver and nothing, hold it , nothing. I put it in bind in betaflight and on the tx12 in the ranger hit bind and nothing, no bind, no different change in led color.... maybe because I have a bind phrase on the controller but have no idea how to create a bind phrase for the uz65 receiver.

Set your radio to 250hz packet rate. Your Whoop shouldn’t be running ELRS 2.5.1, how did you flash that to it? How did you add the binding phrase to it? On the UZ65, you need to run BF 4.3 and your Radio 2.5.1 Set the packet rate on your radio to 250hz.
@@DarrenAllatt i used the phrse generator on the website, i plugged in the code using Betaflight CLI mode. I want to note that i also have a 5in quad i run on elrs daily.
Yeah I am sure and anyone else who’s had a problem is like you - unable to understand the basics. Watch the video on half speed if you have to. But enlighten me. What’s the problem and why can’t you bind your stuff?

I have expresslrs nano 2.4 it's now collecting dust cant bind it, using xmplus so simple and easy to setup

What about if the whoop has a serial already stalled instead of SPI receiver?
Then you would use the normal process, because it means it has its own external receiver built into the board

Yes you should updated to 4.4, however take a backup of the CLI before you do.

@@DarrenAllatt no they appear to be fine. I'll be working on this for a while I had the same problem with the XM Plus receiver and I don't know why.

Best long and cheapest way is to have an android device and connect to the TXs wifi and flash it over wifi. Just have two firmware ready ;)

Or, just update your ExpressLRS SPI Quads to Betaflight 4.4 and you are good to go!
