Fantastic lesson Rob. I remember as a young teenager recording it on a Grundig tape recorder, filling a whole tape back to back with Albatross as we all did in the day. Roll forward 35 years and my son started to learn guitar, obviously I bought my first electric guitar and his teacher taught me how to play Albatross………. Peter Green was a genius and I miss him so much. I saw him last with his band The Splinter Group in Sheffield many years ago, when he played wonderful set. His two disc album, Me And The Devil is my go to listen, as for suggestions any Robert Johnson songs please.
Thank you Rob. It’s one of those songs that a beginner thinks “ God how the hell does that ?? Bet its computer helped !! ). No. Rob has just taken it apart and show is that it is possible that even a beginner can play Albatross Thank you Rob. Wish You Well
Hi Rob...what i really like about your guitar tuition, no razzmatazz. No shredding as an intro and finally no BS. Thank you so much for the straightforward teach and learn approach.
Great job as I practice it everyday I find your humor is encouraging. You make little mistakes and it becomes encouraging to me. Singing the notes gets easier every day. I might become a singer as well. With you everyday, thanks.
Hi Rob! Great Albatross playing! How about Sylvia by Focus? We played it a lot at art college, as well as the haunting guitar in Bob Seger's Mainstreet. I'm busy with my nylon string guitar learning Classical Gas - thanks so much for teaching everyone of us guitar manics how to play it!! Much appreciated dear friend xx
Love this. Great example of less is more. Fiddling around the old e major pentatonic such fun. Made me pick up my electric again and work on that damn slide backwards and 9's. So much technique to practice and improve on with simple fingerings. Really appreciate and love this lesson. Thank you much.
Guitar, music…. So good for the soul and brain any time, especially as we age, I think. “Mr. Bojangles”, that would be a good one. Thanks for all your lessons and paperwork!
Thanks Rob for showing us how to play this very beautiful song. You asked for suggestions. I would love to see if it is possible for one to play Why Worry by Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler. Thanks again.
Great lesson again, Rob. Beautiful track. Not sure if you have done it already, I can’t find it, but Man of the World by Peter Green is a fab tune I and I’m sure many others would love to learn to play!
Nicely explained , and a pleasure to watch ,Rob ,Thankyou . I started my guitar journey with those naughty ,Shadows chaps . Some of their material isn't as easy as MR. Marvin makes them look . The first one I managed ,was Apache ( with some refinements courtesy of your earlier video ) . Guitar tango , Wonderful land and Midnight , took , and are still taking some time . lol.
Anything by Slade, would be great Rob 👍🏻 Far far away, My oh my, Everyday, Gudby ‘T’ Jane etc etc. Anything else by the fantastic Peter Green. Great tutorial mate, thanks 👍🏻🏴🎸
Quality cover Rob!..thank you for sharing your expertise and furthering our knowledge to becoming better guitarists and all for the price of a brew! - James 👍🏻
Brilliant lesson Rob, takes me back to those wonderful earlier Fleetwood Mac songs before they went mainstream. How about doing Layla Unplugged or is that too tough for us learners so better with Wonderful Tonight? From sunny Spain but back to snowy Merseyside next week 😂 Tread carefully
Brilliant! Thanks, my LP is out of its case, plugged and ready for when I finish work Tell us the Slade story sometime Christmas suggestions, my two favourites? Jethro Tull :- Christmas Song Greg Lake :- I Believe in Father Christmas
I don't have an electric buy I love this tune and will give it a try. Maybe I should get one! Rob, have you done any John Prine? Thanks for the great lesson.
Great lesson Rob and a cool way to play the twin melody on one guitar! FYI slight mistake in the tab, last line of page 2, the first 2 slides are written (12+13)=(11+12) but is correctly played =(10+11).
It’s very nice, pretty (even my wife agrees). It might be a challenge but that’s how we get better. I have enjoyed “Bennie”, Sunny Afternoon, Feelin’ Groovy, but also easier content like In my life, Two of us, etc. Maybe an easy one for the coming Saturday then on to Stephanie. Cheers
great lesson (as per normal) - it may be useful if you could let us know what effects you are using as the tone is important - it sounds like a bit of reverb and some sustain - as for a suggestion how about Road to Hell
Regarding the tone: I’m using a cheap little Vox amp - adding some compression and a splash of reverb. I’m using the front pickup of the Les Paul to add body to the sound. 👍🏻
@@fennahrob6934 Thank you - interestingly when I saw Peter Green play it a few tears back, he was using a Strat but still achieve the Les Paul style tone

Thanks Rob. I didn't think I could learn to play Albatross but after your lesson I'm going to do it.
You got this, beautiful song.

Thanks Rob, I'm getting there slowly.as the tips of my fingers are getting sore, having not played for over 40 years.
Very nice, Rob. Thank you.

I discovered my 12th fret is a little taller on one guitar than another. I’m actually learning this great song.
Rod & The Faces please Rob. Loving your stuff mate, thanks.
One of the earliest things I learnt was Wishbone Ash Jailbait, both guitars. Great fun!

Great, thank you. You mentioned Stephanie (FM) earlier. That would be a challenge. Or, How about a Christmas Uke piece?
I’ve got Stephanie ready to go but not sure if it’ll get enough interest. What do you think?

Small inexpensive Vox amp, compression and reverb. Front pickup on guitar. 👍🏻
Cheers - appreciate your response.
20:28 Have you done (Marie's The Name Of) His Latest Flame, Rob ? 😊
Thanks Rob
What are the settings to get the tone right
Some more Peter Green please Rob are you doin the 7th December ?????
First time I heard this played live was by a Liverpool band in the 70s. The Hillsiders on steel guitar. Love it thanks.
I remember that band. Great reputation. 👍🏻
I was just a kid then but they were very popular in my home town in the North of Scotland. They came up a few times.

It looks a bit hard for me just now, but one day maybe. I think I was 16 & the record cost me 7/6, less then 50p

I can't find the backing track?????
Type in Thomas Friedt Music...you'll find this backing track Rob used. 😊
Hi Rob where do you get the backing tracks ?
TH-cam. I mentioned the backing track I used in the vid. 👍🏻
Rob, can this be played on the Acoustic ?
Yes! I’ve taken the bends out and used slides instead so it can be played on acoustic. 👍🏻
@@fennahrob6934 Thanks Rob much appreciated on your reply my friend 😎
Bob please do some boomtown rats stuff
Hi
How do I get the chords and tabs? I think this is a version I can actually learn!
Thanks so much
Under the vid in the description ox you’ll find a link. If you don’t see it straight away click ‘more’. 👍🏻
Thank you!

I know the song but I didn't know it was FleetWood Mac. :-) ..
Fleetwood Mac,when they were at their best without the girls just a blues band from the UK, lots of stuff on TH-cam 😊
Electric ???
Play it on acoustic. Sounds great. 👍🏻
@fennahrob6934 I've got 2 acoustics here, neither has 21 frets 😢
