I’d hate if they’d bring a character as compelling as Mara back, just for her to die and make up for last Jedi’s poor writing. Anyway Timothy Zahn has stated several times he has asked to make a book on Mara in canon but Disney either come back with a no or a hell no.

She could become the Ahsoka of the sequel trilogy, never seen or mentioned on camera in the movies, but an integral part of that time period.
Unfortunately Disney doesn't have enough competence to pull that off
