Yeah I want her to be recruited as a companion regardless of what origin you play. Complete with her own side quest and relationship arcs. She has become that NPC that the DM had intended to put in for a session but the party just becomes so engrossed with the character.

A couple lines of dialog in act 3 at least at one point had coded tags for (alfira approves) and (ketheric disapproves). Suggesting she was originally intended to be a companion. So it's more like she's the npc you planned to send along with the party, decided it would detract from your abilities to DM so you made her more temporary, and then the party kidnaps her anyway😂
Confirmed. This option has been available since launch. I have only ever played as DUrge. By the time I finished the first playthrough, though, Patch 3 had launched.
Well deserved honestly, during my first durge play through (which is still ongoing) she asked to join my camp, me fresh off a happy ending as a tav where nothing went wrong went "yeah of course, what's the worst that could happen?" Then boom, next morning she's dead and i fucking killed her. I did not know that could happen and i was overwhelmed with guilt that i killed my durge character thrice with Karlach. Since it's an honour run I can't save scum. A waste of resources sure but a price to be paidfor getting away with murder
My personal theory is that Alfira was one of many potential companions that would've been part of a "Single Alignment Only" playthrough. Like how Minthara was original for an Evil Only playthrough, Alfira would've been for a Good Only playthrough. There's also plenty of Absolute Cultists who appear as though they were made to be party members, and there is a "Ketheric Disapproves" line in the game code. So definitely it was something that was conceptualized, but left on the cutting room floor.
Alfira and Kagha definitely should've been companions. Both are much more interesting than, say, Wyll. They could've even added Zevlor, Sazza, Dror Ragzlin & Gut, Nere and Isobel as companions. Would've preferred any single one of them over Minsc who had honestly already outstayed his welcome by BG2.
@@Sigismund-von-Luxembourg She was always a companion (was even coded as a companion in EA like Karlach), but it was only mean to be possible to see her in Act 2 if you sided with the goblins or ignored the grove quest all together. But people found several ways to recruit her regardless + non-lethal attacks were bugged when it came to quest progression, so they adjusted Minthara slightly so Halsin and her could coexist in camp and they fixed non-lethal attacks.
You forgot to mention how using the exploit to permanently recruit Alfira breaks act 2. When you go to act 2 with her still alive as Durge, you get stuck in a developer room. Forever. XD
It's easy to get out of. Go to camp, then fast travel back to mountain pass (or anywhere). You can still get to act 2 normally after (in my experience). Also the glitch only happens sometimes, probably based on the game having to teleport Alfira somewhere.
What if: You want to keep Alfira as an NPC for Moonrise, so she could provide the Improved Bardic Inspiration passive feature? Well, I'd like to knock out Alfira in the grove, then let Quil take her place, then is it possible to make Quil a permanent companion like with Alfira? Because then it means you have both Alfira and Quil alive, but without the durge cloak, and getting the bardic inspiration from Alfira after defeating Kathric.
Alfira's HP doesn't increase and you can't rez her because she's still flagged as an NPC, just one that joins the party. I THINK this is the same trick they used for the Githyanki nobody that joins the party if Lae'Zel is your origin character.
The Savage Attacker update is going to make Orc Rogues insanely powerful, they really needed that. Imagine how high you can pump that single attack per round with Orc crits, Savage Attacker and Bhaalist Armor in act 3. Fantastic!
You don't need to walk out of a radius for giving the foes reverberation again. Talk to the amulet, disable and enable whatever passive you have - and you don't even need to waste movement, just time. A lot of it!
Got to the Creche with Alfira before noticing that she doesn’t have all the common actions, she can only Dash, Jump, Throw and Shove. I had to make her a Rogue just to get her to Hide with Cunning Action 😅. For the death thing, in a Spud the King video he mentioned picking up her body and having Withers resurrect her, but that was more so when you’re full resting, but could work for combat deaths. Also, that dual wielding glitch happened to me when I was trying to equip a shield on Alfira. I simply thought it was an Alfira companion glitch.
That duel wield bug has been around for months. Used it in my last playthrough to give my Barb/Monk 6/6 Karlach the Rhapsody dagger in her off hand so that she can still do unarmed attacks and get it's +3 to attack and damage rolls.
I've been using that dual wield trick for a long time but mainly to equip two long swords at once, granted they can be wielded with one hand. And Aradin the Elder has been there before patch 7, it was hilarious when I found it the first time.
For the last one (the birds chest), you can use mage hand to shove it off the pillar. Then you're free to pick it up (and if you failed the dialogue with the bird or cant be bothered with them)- get a rogue to unlock it from within your inventory
Weell its basically a glitch... hope they will add as a complete companion with dialogues, story and romance option someday. Would be cool to have a bard without respec

Here's a tip. During the fight with Yurgir in Shar's domain (or whatever) in act 2, he eventually drops 14 Orthon explosive bombs. You can actually just pick all of them up, and they are disarmed and can be used. They're incredibly powerful, doing basically a combined 50 damage split between fire and force. Not even joking, these 14 bombs allowed me to cheese the fight with the Netherbrain on honor mode. Ran in there and unloaded all 14 bombs for the kill in the first turn. I'm actually curious if you can just leave him alive and farm him for these bombs, maybe something for your testing?
2:20 you dont need to go invis to get Runepowder barrel. Just crouch and use the entrance on the left side (Philomeen's right,) she'll he facing the door. Just jump behind her and grab the barrel. Also, with Crusher, after the toe incident, you can still get his ring. You get into a temp fight w him. Focus him, but let him live. Afterwards he moves to the bridge & you can attack him repeatedly without him going aggro.
You don't even have to go invisible to steal from philomeen. Just walk by her with your rogue character (astarion), position behind her and THEN stealth, then steal from her and move your rogue to the back of the room. She won't even react. I just did this last night.

The reason behind the HP with the difficulty is because: In EASY mode, the characters have 2x first level, and enemies and neutrals have 1/2x first level. In BALANCED, everyone has 1x But in TACTITIAN/HONOR, your characters have 1x, but enemies and neutrals have 2x. Since Alfira is a neutral (same as Us in the Nauthiloid), her HP depends on the difficulty and not in the class. She's an NPC, after all, even if you have her for a while.
00:29 Not really. Before the night when Alfira is supposed to arrive, the player must initiate the transition to the Mountain Pass. During the transition, the party will go on a long rest and only from this moment the bug begins to work.

That would be almost as bad as walking around, distracting guards and then shoving them in pits. I imagine you can also just have the mage hand drop the acid vial so you don't get blasted.
I wish she would become an hireling after death, or maybe there could be a mod that replaces an hireling by alfira. I've seen it being done with antagonists like gortash and orin
Caustic surface (acid bulb) also works for the infinite item trigger, and void bulbs are also a great candidate for throwing onto a surface to setup for AoEs
Didnt know Savage Attacker was not working properly prior to patch 7! Uh yes it is supposed to work with all damage done through a melee action this would include a sneak attack or even stuff like a paladin smite. Edit, also crits done with melee. So it can be a really good pick at level 4 over say GWM or even just standard ASI or Half ASI feat.
Waiting for the "True Companion Alfira" mod with cool text lines (likely not voiced yet; though maybe people can collect money to hire the original voice actor?) and regular main character features ☺

for the phalar aluve thing, you could just be a monk and use the infinite jump ability. Then you can jump infinite amount of times using the hammer that does thunder damage each time you jump.

Little weird. Don’t know if a mod screwed something up or not(not that I have any that ‘should’…), but Scratch decided to show up in the Ancient Lair in Act 3(he was not summoned and I didn’t give him away). He is the normal camp Scratch and just sits in the back of the room. I am playing on a patch 6 save, so I don’t know if that changes anything.
larian studio is always have the most cool unintentional exploits I think they should keep the exploitsin in the game, if smart enough if you're smart enough to find like a in game cheat code, I truly I want her to be a permanent companion.
i found you can get Portrait of Ifan ben-Mezd at the orge eating corpse location in Act 1, you need to go up the roof there a small room and there the portrait and with the same time a perception check you able find the hidden board hiding something
i wish they would have implemented alfira as companion without glitching, but I guess this would have meant more work for larian and I rather have them working on a new amazing game
I done that since game launch and did not record and show to the public, now they probably gonna remove Alfira soon. just like how you will get headless Karlach last time. Thou the rest of the way you play is sick.
with the unlocked modding kit and AI voice generation surely we would see a full Alfira companion in time, it would just take months and months to build.
I'm in act 3 with alfira. I did the opposite of you. Went to the mountain pass to trigger her recruit scene but killed her instead and picked up her body. Same thing happened here. Had withers revive her then I killed her again and picked her up, went back to act 1 and long rested until durge killed the other bard. Then Alfira can be taken to act 2 onwards
@@skylerdama her dialogue triggered after i rescued the tieflings but the potent robe wasn't given. The kids also speak as if she's alive after the ketheric battle
I'm sure someone will figure out how to use her current companion recruting code to make her a fully fleshed companion that has all of the actions you'd expect a companion to have, plus proper Bard and Tiefling abilities to boot. If you then do the exploit her to make her permanent, at least you have a decent companion now lol. Eventually after that, someone will figure out how to make her truly permanent, and always recruitable. This is more likely now that the modding toolit has been fully unlocked by the community.
I tried killing my dark urge after Alfira joins and when the game killed Alfira anyway, I gave up. I cannot imagine what it takes to try killing DU with Alfira and then picking him up. I mean .... why? I wonder if transporting to the Mountain Pass triggers certain quest completions like it does if you go there normally. For example, if you have not yet completed rescue Halson or the Tieflings when you take the Mountain Pass then normally those quests will be failed. If you then go back Halsin and Tieflings will be dead.

Durge eats dwarf meat and heals from it. When you eat dwarf the first time you get the "Long Pig" inspiration.

Alfira should have been an origin companion
Revive Alfira will make her completely a common player character without any dialogue, so it's recommended to do so after warlocks got their robe.

Her HP does change, but it's based on the NPC rules for the difficulty. On tactician she gets a +2 bonus to all attacks and has normal HP.

Durge biting the toe was pre patch 7. I did it a couple times while playing with friends.

lol, i was just trying to figure out the alfira thing last night, as soon as i saw she was a party member and could be controlled i knew there had to be a way.

so i tried the trick fist be defeating my Durge with Alfira, but didnt think about looking her(my Durge) and taking her body lmao

for the phalar aluve thing, you could just be a monk and use the infinite jump ability. Then you can jump infinite amount of times using the hammer that does thunder damage each time you jump.

I mean.. from the moment you meet her, Alfira just looks cool and she has a great character intro reel with the song. Why wouldn't players want her?

You can steal the rune powder barrel without going into dialogue and using a second character. Just go invisible and jump over to it
I'm surprised the dual wield cheese wasn't found earlier, considering all the other tricks done by swapping equipment, or is this a new thing in Patch 7?
Wish I had kept a savegame from immediately before Alfira appears. I would have tried this immediately. This sweet girl also deserves to get her revenge.

That chest above topaz and the key have always been there I collect it in every play-through, it’s not new.

Little weird. Don’t know if a mod screwed something up or not(not that I have any that ‘should’…), but Scratch decided to show up in the Ancient Lair in Act 3(he was not summoned and I didn’t give him away). He is the normal camp Scratch and just sits in the back of the room. I am playing on a patch 6 save, so I don’t know if that changes anything.
I'm pretty sure Savage Attacker was working prior to patch 7 at least on smites and damage increase from items
larian studio is always have the most cool unintentional exploits I think they should keep the exploitsin in the game, if smart enough if you're smart enough to find like a in game cheat code, I truly I want her to be a permanent companion.

i found you can get Portrait of Ifan ben-Mezd at the orge eating corpse location in Act 1, you need to go up the roof there a small room and there the portrait and with the same time a perception check you able find the hidden board hiding something

Does this Alfira trick stop her from being able to give you potent robes in act 2?
Someone already figured out you can do something to get the potent robes involving sitting her on her chair in last light.

TheOneTrueSirSalty tested this. If you bring Alfira to Act 2 you send up in developer land and can't advance the game.
Alfira should have been a companion from the start. or at least when you finish the quest where she rewards you with the robe at last light.

I tried all this during the beta test but keeping Alfira alive doesn't work for me, she always wakes up dead, even with Durge in her pocket.
Are you triggering the event during the mountain pass (or Grymforge to Shadowlands) transition?

i wish they would have implemented alfira as companion without glitching, but I guess this would have meant more work for larian and I rather have them working on a new amazing game

with the unlocked modding kit and AI voice generation surely we would see a full Alfira companion in time, it would just take months and months to build.
I'm in act 3 with alfira. I did the opposite of you. Went to the mountain pass to trigger her recruit scene but killed her instead and picked up her body. Same thing happened here. Had withers revive her then I killed her again and picked her up, went back to act 1 and long rested until durge killed the other bard. Then Alfira can be taken to act 2 onwards
What about her quest in Act 2?
@@skylerdama her dialogue triggered after i rescued the tieflings but the potent robe wasn't given. The kids also speak as if she's alive after the ketheric battle
As a dark urge if you donate 1000 gold to Halsik as she jogs your memory multiple times you will have a buff while near her.
can you respec alfira? if yes i can imagine ways she can be useful, max range eldritch spam for example.
New goal kill dark urge as Alfira then beat the game with her.
Luckily Alfira has very little voice lines, so it would be easy for an ambitioud modder to voice her and add content without too much rework
I'm sure someone will figure out how to use her current companion recruting code to make her a fully fleshed companion that has all of the actions you'd expect a companion to have, plus proper Bard and Tiefling abilities to boot. If you then do the exploit her to make her permanent, at least you have a decent companion now lol.
Eventually after that, someone will figure out how to make her truly permanent, and always recruitable.
This is more likely now that the modding toolit has been fully unlocked by the community.
I tried killing my dark urge after Alfira joins and when the game killed Alfira anyway, I gave up. I cannot imagine what it takes to try killing DU with Alfira and then picking him up. I mean .... why?
I wonder if transporting to the Mountain Pass triggers certain quest completions like it does if you go there normally. For example, if you have not yet completed rescue Halson or the Tieflings when you take the Mountain Pass then normally those quests will be failed. If you then go back Halsin and Tieflings will be dead.
