made my first batch of cider/apple wine using turbo yeast and tasted it today after it being working for a few days and ill be honest i had one pint and it had a spring in my step it was pretty good lol
Hi, first of all grate vid. Thinking about making this myself and just have a few questions if you don't mind answering :) how come before you do the cleaning process the liquid is black and then after its clear and can't see the black sludge at the bottom of your fermentation bucket (8:32) if you get me lol l. Cheers
+lee williams thank you Lee. hahah very observant Lee I didn't realise this. Yes all the black Carbon and dead yeast will settle to the bottom, leaving you a clear liquid on top. you will need to siphon off the clear wash into your still, leaving the black sludge to throw away
that stuff really made it crystal clear but the bottom of the bucket looked clear too,you must have already racked it before you siphoned it into the pot still i guess
Why not cut a square in the lid, put a cloth or mesh or something to filter on the other bucket, put rubber bands around the mesh on the outside of the bucket to hold it in place then you could just pour the wash. Cause you have a lid and a small square cut in it at the bottom it will pour without making a mess, and it's quicker than siphoning it.
Do you have to do the still process as it’s a bit technical. Can you drink it without doing that process and is it safe to drink and what alcohol % would that be?
watched this video as i caught your part one on making Rum, here you mentioned if you are making a whisky etc you want to keep the stuff at the bottom as that’s where the flavour is is that the same for Rum? do you add it into the still or do another process?
Whisky and Vodka are made from different ingredients. But the Carbon and clear will remove any impurities in the vodka but you might want to keep in Whisky
Just curious but why wouldn’t you scoop the frothy substance off each time to make it flat? It just seems like it would be quicker. I’m a beginner but just curious.
I have qistion ? Sorry my inglish ont good but title carbon and turbo cleaner are the tha same what we used to car's ? And how i can find them again im soory for my inglish
Howdy fellow Moonshiner from across the pond! I happen to be a blind moonshiner myself! It’s a whole another story on how I’ve had to adapt many things; so a dumb blink such as myself can safely, and confidently make some exquisitely fine spirits at home. My question to you sir is; do you think I should use Turbo Carbon in my grain, possibly with added sugar to boost ABV; vodka mash? I’m using flake corn, milled white wheat malt and milled distiller’s malt in my mash. If I don’t hit my desired ABV, I can always add corn sugar to bump up the ABV. BTW: I’ll also use turbo clear too. So would using turbo carbon work well with fermenting a grain based mash? What do you think? PS: Great video too!
hi im new to your channel great video i have the airstill from still spirits great still been makin my own spirits for few years now deffinately gonna watch all your videos keep up the good work STEVIE T CO DURAHAM
Hi Moonshiner .Just made a potatoe wash and fermented about 8 days the bubbling stopped, and only then I used the carbon clear All the black sank right down to the bottom no mater how much I stirred and only just now I realized the fermentation had not finished Have not used the Turbo clear's yet Where to from here ??
whisky is made from corn (sometimes Barley) sugar. But yes your kind if right. The carbon and clear removes any impurities in the wash that you wouldn't want in vodka but would in Whisky
there is no set time or method. its just like flattening a bottle of coke, just shake if/mix it up a bunch of times. it doesn't have to be flat flat. just a good mix up will do.
is moonshine illegal to make in the uk? i have tried reading up and found alot of controversy saying you can get fined £1000 but in your video you say its legal to do in the uk?
was the whole wash black or just the sediment at the bottom? if everything was still black I would say fermentation hasn't finished, so its still bubbling away at the bottom and kicking up the carbon. Don't waste it though, you can still run it though your still
Thanks I went ahead and used another package of clear and checked today and it is still black. It fermented a week and stopped bubbling (so I thought) and I racked it and added the Klear a & b I thought maybe it was because I lifted the bucket to a higher shelf and maybe I disturbed the carbon so today it is still black so I will distill anyways. I will leave it alone for another 24 hrs just to make sure
3:58 if you do use his recipie, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT DO THIS. If you degas this way, you will introduce a SHIT TON of oxygen into it, activating a acidobacter turning the entire damn thing to vinegar. Just let the brew sit until the bubbling stops, or just stiring it with a spoon is also a way to degas.
Hello Sir, Very impressive video you made it looks real simple! I recently tried to make a wash exactly like this one with the same products and it didnt bubble? Then I realized it needs to be under 75deg F in order to work? If over then the yeast dies? I am curious as to where you live because it is hard to maintain 75 deg F indoors where I live. I want to do another batch but not sure if I can pull it off? Any Tips on keeping my wash under 75 deg F
:) I live in England where it reaches 75f about 1 week in a year hahaha. I have run mine in my house with a average temp of 70f and out side at 60f both worked just fine.
I never could stand whiskey. I discovered, though, that if you add some to a fruit cake, a little each day, and let it soak in, you will have a delicious dessert that you eat with a spoon and then you fall asleep. You can use bourbon or brandy or rum, but it's good with whiskey too.
Watching this at work so put it on mute with closed captions enanled. Man you should see what google/youtube think of your accent :D "linguist authorise the bongos this bottle i made..." Even something about Nazis in there Yeah, this isn't going to work... where's those headphones...
It would be faster if you get one of those paint mixer and ticket on a drill and DE Gasser like people who makes wine does. It would be gas it faster than the way you're doing it it would only take 15 to 20 minutes just spinning that trail and I will get all the gas out
I see no reason why you should degas the mixture? I would understand that you degas it if you were adding yeast to the mixture later so no oxygen would be around. But after you clear you start distilling so while distilling you also degas the mixture. Because the method you use for degassing is a very bad one as you actually are incorporating air in your mixture by slushing it so vigorously. The oxygen in the air can even make it go foul tasting. In beer making the number 1 rule is after boiling never splash the mixture and the only way to transfer it is with a siphoning tool.
Why did you never come back to show us how to make Whiskey?... Nobody on youtube goes over the process properly, this video was amazing for making the raw vodka product though; I'll experiment with some clean versions+versions with the sediments, etc. Please reply if you're still active!
For degassing, cordless drill and a metal paint stirrer?
Excellent video boss
Just run it though a cheese cloth a few times for filtering all the black sludge.
Why do that when the kit comes with stuff to clear it properly ?
made my first batch of cider/apple wine using turbo yeast and tasted it today after it being working for a few days and ill be honest i had one pint and it had a spring in my step it was pretty good lol
Excellent mate, thanks
I'm really digging the tutorials mate. :) What would you say is the easiest hard liquor to brew??
+Leo Hello Leo thank you for watching, the easiest spirt to make would be vodka by far.
Have you tried using a brand new paint stirrer on a drill to de gas the mash mate? ideal if your not got alot of upper body strength :-)
Good video, thank you :)
+gene wiley thank you
Great vid👍
nice job mate.
thank you daniel
Hello Darlin, get yourself a big whisk to stir and a 1 micron bio diesel sock filter to strain crap waste...

Thank you for the good video .you the best my man . could you make a video on how to make diffrent Whisky easy way .thanks again for the good job .
Hello Kir, thank you for your comment. that is what I'm looking at doing in my next video
100% that is my next video
that stuff really made it crystal clear but the bottom of the bucket looked clear too,you must have already racked it before you siphoned it into the pot still i guess

Everything you need to know about making moonshine vodka Part 2
The Moonshiner wait so the turbo carbon and turbo clear are just to get rid of the bad taste and smell ? so without these two it would be whiskey?
Whisky and Vodka are made from different ingredients. But the Carbon and clear will remove any impurities in the vodka but you might want to keep in Whisky
Can you just pour it out? I am making my own home and just concern will it be affected?
Just curious but why wouldn’t you scoop the frothy substance off each time to make it flat? It just seems like it would be quicker. I’m a beginner but just curious.
could you use a long mixer to get rid of the bubbles?
sure can, I use a new/clean paint mixer on a drill now that dose the job great.
please could you tell me what is the percentage of alcohol in the end of the part 2 vedio
You rock! thank u mate = )
thank you viktor
I have qistion ? Sorry my inglish ont good
but title carbon and turbo cleaner are the tha same what we used to car's ?
And how i can find them
again im soory for my inglish

thank you for your message Steve, I've got a few more coming up soon
What about using a charcoal filter? Or a cloth to filter out the sludge, rather than having to syphon and watch?
My man... 👍👍👍
Would it help any to put an in line filter on the siphon
Can I do this without the carbon ?
where did you learn this stuff?
You can de-gas with a paint mixer on a drill
sure can mate, I use one now just didn't have one at the time of filming
I was questioning that myself in my head wal I was watching glad I'm not the only one great video
mine was lost at the time of this video, but you are right jesse its so much easier with a paint mixer
After 24 hrs. Still looking pretty black. Added the solution yesterday. Any advice? Can I still distill it?
any alternatives for the turbo clear?
Let it sit for 2 or 3 weeks, will be crystal clear
@@abrameaton5553 thanks
You should use a mesh bag and youl get maximum amount 👌😁👌
Hi Moonshiner .Just made a potatoe wash and fermented about 8 days the bubbling stopped, and only then I used the carbon clear All the black sank right down to the bottom no mater how much I stirred and only just now I realized the fermentation had not finished Have not used the Turbo clear's yet Where to from here ??
you can still run with a small amount of sediment as it would come out the still as its heavier than steam
wait so the turbo carbon and turbo clear are just to get rid of the the bad taste and smell? so withoit those two this would be whiskey am i right?
whisky is made from corn (sometimes Barley) sugar. But yes your kind if right. The carbon and clear removes any impurities in the wash that you wouldn't want in vodka but would in Whisky
sort of, whisky Is more grain based
Dumb question....why add the chemicals and not run it through a series of filters?
I wasn't sure you weren't very specific you dont want the black stuff at the bottom?
I am using a whip to degas so how long do I degas? 20 min for wine but not sure about this?
there is no set time or method. its just like flattening a bottle of coke, just shake if/mix it up a bunch of times. it doesn't have to be flat flat. just a good mix up will do.
Thanks some videos say 20 min some say 10 some say 2 min so you are right thank you
If I was making the rum, would I want all of the stuff at the bottom at the end of the 24 hours after it turned clear?
no you don't want any of the stuff at the bottom
My mash has a sweet, wine-like smell after 3 days. Is this normal?
I'm de gassing the rum mix and we've poured about 20 times and we still have bubbles
I probably seem like an idiot for asking, but what % does this make..?
it comes out the still at around 70% (140 proof)
Richie Ingpiece 15-18% and tastes awful! This is made for destilling, not for drinking the wash/wine
is moonshine illegal to make in the uk? i have tried reading up and found alot of controversy saying you can get fined £1000 but in your video you say its legal to do in the uk?
I used the turbo clear and part A then 1 hour later added part B 24 hrs later still black....what when wrong?
was the whole wash black or just the sediment at the bottom? if everything was still black I would say fermentation hasn't finished, so its still bubbling away at the bottom and kicking up the carbon. Don't waste it though, you can still run it though your still

You from cardiff
definitely not from the american south.

I am in IL and the temp is average 80 plus degree. Have my house air set at 76 and my wine/moonshine comes out just fine
with all that being said we still were able to distill approx 2 pints of 90-100 proof which aint to bad for a newbie!
that was very good Taury, try next time adding a extra kg of sugar and see if fermentation runs a little longer if so, you will have more product

Why is my vodka turning yellow

David Nicholas those captions are hilarious 😂😂😂

Hey there Moonshiner,. Are you a female impersonator by profession? Genuine question, no insult intended..
VIN DIESEL MAKING VODKA😂
This isn't vodka, real vodka is made with potatoes..in the USA we call this sugar shine.
My name is Marta and I am going to get a bachelor degree
So this IS Vodka and not moonshine? They are two different alcohols. I hate those Whiskey hang overs.
Alot of work. 😞
Sorry bud all you made was sugar shine .
