It could've worked too, had DC not gone with 52 titles, start out small with a few heroes/teams active, tone down on the multiple solo titles of Batman (and even Superman), give the Wildstorm characters more screen time, and have an established time frame for the continuity to work. Yes getting rid of Martian Manhunter was one thing I really hated about this reboot. He was always my favourite member of the Justice League. And his abilities can give you loads of things you can do, like linking all their minds together and things like that.
When I look back at Geoff Johns, run on Justice League, he never should've added in Cyborg because he felt out of place on that team. But looking back at it, though, I think Batman and Superman could have been left off the roster and only be established as honorary members and give their spots to the Atom and Hawkman (or Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman), especially when Martian Manhunter pretty much fills the role for both the Worlds Finest.
I agree it is more New 52 than DC's Ultimate Universe, I wanted DC's Ultimate Universe to look and feel more like what Mark Waid was doing with Worlds Finest not this (but still enjoying the Absolute Universe so far). Also I wanted to have new characters for GL and Flash, like they did from the Golden Age, Silver Age and Modern Age

@@dayneinsayne it was cool to thank of them as two literal gods as characters. Why wouldn't you put them together? I bet out of all the abilities Superman has, immortality is one people hardly explores. And when it comes to God romances it doesn't always has to be with a human as they are written now.
@@KingBearmaneIt’s not the first time that Superman & Wonder Woman hooked up. In “Kingdom Come” since both Superman and Wonder Woman either don’t age or age far slower than a normal human, they more or less outlived their respective love interests, things happened and they eventually got together. And they had a son named Jon Kent(Hyperman). Same thing basically happened in the Dark Knight Returns universe, and they had a daughter named Lara.
So basically which we already said it and I already talked about I said so the absolute universe is basically the new 52 2.0 because the reason why DC failed with the new 52 is it came out of nowhere and it replaced the main continuity that nobody asks for and people been begging for them to go back to post crisis for years for some reason DC refuse but in the new absolute Universe and everybody's loving it and it's just like yeah because it's not messing with the main continuity That's why it's working for people because it's not messing with the main continuity it's not tied down by the main continuity and I felt like that's what the new 52 should have been it should have been the ultimate DC Universe in 2011 but you still had post crisis and I think what would have happened is DC would have had two successful ongoing universes if they had just did the new 52 as a alternate universe instead of saying oh it's the main continuity who who asked you for that cuz I didn't ask for that at all especially when there was no buildup to it.

@@EvandroACruz Exactly it's ruined them forever and a lot of people just don't seem to understand it it's the same reason why any kind of reboot that DC has been doing these past couple of years have failed because they constantly keep rebooting their continuity every couple of years to attract quote unquote new readership or new audience the new audience that don't even stick around for a year
You realize superman and batman are coming up on 100 years old. Soon they will be open for anyone to do their own take. DC needs to make more versions now to keep the trademarks active
For me, and just for me, I would love to see them take the characters back to their roots, get rid of the multiverse, and establish one version of every character and a tight singular timeline. Just do that and if you want to do stuff outside that continuity just go back to Elseworld as an occasional release. In other words, what they did after the Crisis served them so well for years after.
@LibraGamesUnlimited i dont blame them why bother reading this if you gotta read that then find out the writer destroyed this character and then you got a Multiverse reset.
@LibraGamesUnlimited I agree I don't hate the Multiverse because it did offer interesting stories like all star superman. Batman under the red hood, etc etc. But when you put too much focus that you forget continuity, then it's a problem. For example, dc and Marvel should make 2 universe, maybe called Earth 1 and 2, just examples. And have those two universes live action and animation and have those be the main universe when characters get a beginning middle and end. And treat the other universes as you would do in mmo rpg quests. You can do them, but it's not mandatory.
This is the same problem as when they try to race or gender swap a character--- you've 'personality swapped' and 'circumstance swapped' them instead. I'll make the same suggestion I normally make --- if you like those personalities and circumstances and want to do new stories. create a whole new character and do those things with your NEW character. Keep Batman out of it! Just like the Joker movie --- you want the name recognition and the enthusiasm that comes with it --- but you want to toss out everything about the character that GENERATES that enthusiasm you're chasing. Doesn't work. Won't work. Knock the shit off! If you haven't gotten it to work over the last decade and a half.... I'm sorry, but it's bad and people don't want it.
Thank you, thank you! You summed up perfectly how I feel about this, it's always a replacement no matter how they do it and it really bothers me. Why not just make new characters with these ideas instead of wasting them on an alternate version?
I would agree with this critique of absolute versions of DC characters except that this is not like New 52 in where the characters were replaced with modern versions of the classics. the Absolute trinity is just an alternate to the characters that simultaneously still exist. You still have real superman batman and wonder woman. Stop crying.
I think Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman & Superman should last 12 issues. They should tie into an Absolute Justice League book that last between 6 - 12 issues before switching the focus back to the main continuity.
Honestly the absolute dc universe should’ve came out a long time ago, because the absolute dc universe if you really think about it is technically a new ultimate universe but for dc comics themselves but that’s just my opinion.
I never understood the need to make younger versions of existing characters. You don’t need younger version, if a character is popular. Then all you need are good stories to go along with that character.
I just bought Batman year one and I have to agree with you Wes, it’s probably my favorite of the Batman stories I’ve read tho I’m not as well read on Batman as I am on marvel I’m really enjoying it
There's no way to fix the damage that the N52 did to DCU. That shit ruined DC forever and until these days they don't fully recovered that. DC Rebirth was the only chance and they wasted. Continuity was screwed so badly in post Flashpoint that I feel that nothing I read truly matters. One of biggest reasons of way I don't buy a single DC book in years. Absolute universe it's just the N52 made in another way. Dark and Edge bullshit only. DC just refuse to learn with your past mistakes.
I think Absolute MM isn't getting hype right now is because there's little to no information on it. Once that happens, I'm sure the hype will steadily increase. I'm personally excited for it.
Instead of trying to win over younger readers with 'new, younger edgy' versions of their characters how about, and here is a radical thought I know, creating NEW characters and maybe giving them actual quality writing and artwork.
What amount of young readers though? They priced out an entire class of kids. Comics are no longer affordable for blue collar famlies kids anymore. I am buying trades that the little kids can read for free, but they don't. Any money I give them for working around the home and garden is spent on gaming, films, shows, collectibles. All the stuff around the comics, but not the actual comics.
@PrivateCitizen84 that is true. Maybe they should go back to less expensive materials or find a way to offset the costs. I stopped reading modern comics after Rebirth went off the rails, do they still run ads and have ad revenue?
@@LibraGamesUnlimited I wasn't into comics back in the day, but I remember the cheap pricing and easy availability. I started reading comic stories the past couple of years as a short form entertainment replacement due to Hollywoods new trend of making lots of bad films in a row. So when I went to LCS I was shocked at the price of a floppy two years ago and current day it is worse. I just buy trades/hardbacks for a song mostly. My library is 98.03% pre-owned and averages out at 75% off.
@PrivateCitizen84 I actually got into comics thanks to role-playing games. Bought the DC Heroes RPG because I had grown up with Batman, Superman and various animated series and started buying the comics to get more into the setting. This was just after they had their Crisis story that rebooted everything so I was getting in near the start which was great. I continued to read comics even when I wasn't running the game which I did off and on. When I started, comics were 75 cents with annuals and specials being about 1 dollar. When I stopped, in the early 90s, they were 1.25 or 1.75. I came back, for a bit, with New 52 and Rebirth, and, like you, was shocked at the price (and lack of general quality in writing and art). Now, I collect vintage trades.
@@LibraGamesUnlimited The comic prices when I was a kid was under single figures like Beano, Dandy, Beezer. 2000 AD was low double figures UK/GB pence. Vintage trades that sounds interesting? Being nosy what do you collect? Always fishing for new reads. I am mostly reading older Big Two stories 80's to pre 2010. I got 80's to 2017 with 2000 AD. I got a handful of new trades, but nothing Big Two. I do like some grim, horror, gore and satrie The Walking Dead, The Boy's, DMZ, 30 Days of Nights, Suiciders, The Filth, Imperuim, Millarword, Drakula, Fallen Angel, Uncle Sam, Prisoner, Ghost of the Badlands all in trade format. Last, but not least Transformers old and new. I tried Darkness, Witchblade, Saga, but it didn't take. Got my first Star Wars Vader comic coming soon with Gieger and DD Marked for Murder. Lots of good old going cheap trade wise.
You hit the nail on the head in regards to the original Ultimate Universe... and that was the main reason why Ultimate Spider-Man was so crazy successful back then I'm skipping these Absolute books.... but I feel that we will see the 19th issues of these titles... in fact, I think they will last around 3 years.
Idk man what’s the point in being cynical about everything, I’m just enjoying the ride right now. The absolute universe is a fun little side experiment that they’re doing and I’m interested enough to buy in. The mainline books have also looked promising, like Batman & Superman
Absolute Universe Is Just New52 but worse, i love New52 and can't look at Absolute without urge to scream /lmao Boomers ruin creativity Wokies ruin creativity Edgelords ruin creativity Everything should be at balance to make reader be interested, but since media/DC bending a knee to favor one specific group it completely disregards others, makes plot be politically driven mess or child story.
😕The vast majority of the New 52 was terrible. There's a reason why New 52 comics are habitually in the dollar rack at your local comic shop. It was a massive downgrade from the post Zero Hour DC Universe
The only Marvel Ultimate book that really lasted was Spider-Man. Why? Because Bendis took the essentials of Spider-Man and used them to tell entertaining new stories. The specific events unfolded differently but it still FELT like Peter. Why does no one else follow that approach? These characters don't need to be reinvented and doing so will only weaken their appeal over time.
A massive thankyou Wes. Since iv'e been tuning in every day , ive bought less and less shitty comics 💩 Thankyou Bro 🙏 I still buy what ever Tynion writes. I dont know how low or high you rate his work , but from the stuff i have read its been pretty good.
In the category of run its course, Batman White Knight. What would work in my opinion is to expand World’s Finest universe which should strip away the bloated families.
Absolute is another excuse for the bad writers they hired to do fanfiction versions of the DCU, because they couldn't write a decent story set in the established universe. I hated the fundamental changes of the New 52, how many characters were unrecognizable. For every halfway decent one New 52 book, there were five or so that were complete garbage, and consistently getting cancelled or on the verge of cancellation. Absolute and New 52 have some similarities, but I think they're bad in different ways.
But it's not smart because both universes are screwed up and again the continuity is messed up there was no lead up for the absolute universe besides absolute power but nobody was reading absolute power so how was it a good idea honestly like if nobody was reading absolute power how was it a good idea for absolute universe you know Mike West said we have been doing brand new versions of Batman Superman and Wonder Woman for the past 8 years and ain't nothing stick and he's right this isn't going to last that long everybody's going to talk about how great it is for what maybe the first three months and then after that the sales are dip and then they'll give up on it after they're absolute event and then we'll never really talk about the absolute universe again.
@@treymykelstop it already with the parroting, you’ve made no valid points other than second hand subjective information. Regardless if anybody read it or not there was a lead up to absolute power with the All in special. Whether you like it not the absolute line so far has had huge sales, and reinvigorated interest in comics from old readers to new readers.
The Absolute Universe is no different from the New 52 Universe as both of them still kept pushing the concept of character deconstruction and ruining characters. Now, i didn't have that much of an issue with DC rebooting back then. The problem was that the company did it at the wrong time and did not let writers properly conclude their stories prior to Flashpoint.
If the absolute universe brings back old reads like New 52 did (including myself) or new reads then it is a positive thing. With WB being the parent company I don't trust they can stick the landing. I have not read any abosulte titles, but i get the impression of a Elseworld type universe.
The "going bigger" part is just building to the Absolute Justice League, so they want the main characters to have their own books. As for the rest, I'd actually welcome if the Absolute Universe eventually ended some day. Focus on quality, give it a few years of amazing stories, then wrap it up in a way that feels rewarding and not a waste of time.
The new 52 happened cuz dc almost lost the rights to superman against the seigel family. So they "quietly" rebooted the dcu to place their superman who wasn't fully the superman most of us grew up with. DC & the seigel family came to some kind of agreement and 3 years later convergence brought in post crisis superman & lois lane into the new 52 universe and new 52 superman & lois were eventually killed off. Absolute reminds me of a mix between the silver age era of Earth 1 & 2 and Marvel's ultimate universe.
I Love New 52 so yeah I'm All for it Edit: I got into DC Comic because of Finally seeing Superboy again and Justice League Cartoon at the time Death of Super to his Return, Batman Vs Robin, Teen Titan vs Justice League and this is Coming from someone who only watch Anime and Read Manga or Webtoon
I find it very difficult to take CBR seriously. They recently ranked NYX and Exceptional X-Men at the top of the list of the best to come out of From The Ashes. With that said though, for me the main difference with Absolute and New 52 is that Absolute is an alternative, not a replacement. New 52 replaced the true DCU. We were told that everything we had known was gone for good and that this (New 52) was here to stay. So you'll eat it and like it. Well I hated it so for the first time since the mid eighties I completely stopped buying any DC titles. So for me, I can deal with trying something a little different as long as the tried and tested is still available.
This is all to do with getting around copywrite problems. Which was also what New 52 was to an extent also. These arent meant to be the characters we know but bastardised versions of them that DC doesnt have to pay anyone for.
Absolute is actually a reboot, New 52 was a half assed soft reboot. No comparison. Ultimately, the novelty will wear off and it’ll be swept under the rug
Read Absolute Superman today and thought that it reminded me of the New 52 Superman with the armor uniform. He's all mopey, soy, and emo. Then there was all the class warfare on Krypton. Blah. Can I get some escapism? Didn't care for the book. I dont think the Absolute universe will make it beyond a year. I'll give it a few more issues to see if Aaron has something.
Some of it reminds me of Dan Jurgens/ DC’s lesser appreciated Tangent Comics (see Green Lantern Dark). I am ok with Absolute as long as they commit to creating fun and engaging stories, but it’s starting to look like a place holder for whatever they decide to do in 6 to 12 months.
nah... the new 52 replaced the mainline, this is just a side thing like the ultimate universe which is in my opinion the best way to explore new ideas with these characters. The good ideas can then feed back into the mainline, just like it did with the Ultimate universe. Also in my opinion the biggest issue with the new 52 was the absolute lack of planning and coordination, and the great disparity in quality between the books. You could get some good stuff like action comics, batman or animal man, and then garbage like mister terrific. The absolute universe seems to be focusing on just a few books at a time, making it more manageable. I am not a fan yet but that might change.
It's the same problem that Marvel faced with Miles Morales once the Ultimates line wound down. Miles is generally well liked, but since he was an alternate Spiderman, he is doomed forever be in Peter Parkers shadow. The fact that Peter Parker is also popular means that he can't simply be phased out for Miles. Coexisting has only caused problems as Miles is functionally redundant as long as Peter is around. These new "Absolute" versions of characters are going to face the same issue down the road. DC will either have to abandon these new iterations or they will have to rework them which will cause heartburn for fans of both versions.
This is my problem with separate universe lines: why not just put the effort and energy into the regular universe? The first Ultimate Universe early on is a bit of an outlier, due to peak BMB and the genius of Mark Millar.
there are enough talented comic book writers for Marvel and D.C. Comics to both have multiple universe with quality but they don't treat the artist in a way to make them stay. Much of this has to do with pay (all the various ways to pay an artist) but I'm sure there are other factors. I think D.C.'s problem is all their other reboots should have been alternate universes and that indesicivness might bite them in their butts.
New 52 was one of the better DC eras at least I thought it was. I’m giving Absolute Batman another try and picking up Absolute Superman even though Jason Aaron is attached to it.
Tell me because they kept going with the new 52 and they didn't give up because they erased their main continuity for it Yeah it was the best era that DC had up till then because they literally had no choice to go all in with it whether we liked it or not and a lot of people didn't like it and that's why DC hasn't been able to recover from it ever since because it was a dumb thing to do
Ok take a deep breath and again I said “at least I thought it was good.” It’s cool if you didn’t like it. But it’s meant to imply I am not speaking for everyone.
And as usual , they are not creating any new characters. Because they still refuse to give them their due and a fair wage. You know, the reason image comics was created. And this has been going on since the days of elseworlds and Gotham by gaslight. It's always a new take on existing characters. I'll pass
I'm pretty sure the Absolute Universe will have a much shorter lifespan than the New 52. I myself have a bit of a soft spot for it because it provided an easy entry point when I was looking to get into comics, but it was full of questionable and stupid decisions. That being said, it did have some good starting books (Batman, Aquaman, Justice League, Green Lantern and Corp, Wonder Woman) and a few that were alright. Absolute on the other hand has an "ok" Wonder Woman, "meh" Batman and Superman that is really bad. Frankly, Absolute Superman was abysmal. I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes while forcing myself to keep reading it. There are only two good things about this book. Rafa Sandoval's art and the design of the armed goons "Superman" is fighting. The "S" definitely doesn't stand for hope 😂🤦
Yes these side lines are temporary. They will sell, until they don't sell. Then those fans move on. And unlike New 52 there is not an inexplicable and abrupt disruption to the main line readership. What exactly is the problem?
Even if you believe that the absolute universe is the new 52 reborn I'm still okay with it this is kind of like a combination between the Ultimate Universe from Marvel and The New 52 from DC. The absolute version of Batman reminds me of Ben Affleck with a Spider-Man element added on to it, you have absolute Superman who reminds me of Henry Cavill and how the way that things are going for the new Man of Steel looks to be a combination of both new 52 style and the Henry Cavill Superman as one, and Wonder Woman is embracing her Goddess of War Heritage where she's acting like Kratos from the video game, and I'll be honest if play somehow end up making it where she has to fight the Olympians to restore her Amazon sisters and get revenge on what they had done to her family I say yes this is indeed like Kratos.
To be fair Batman and Green Lantern pockets were pretty much untouched they kinda just had things added to them. Maybe year one but lets face it that story barely fits now that Batman has a foot in the 22nd century and the DC universe Gotham has the extraordinary and strange popped up way before the waynes and even then superheroes being a thing since the 40s in universe.
The new 52 and the first run of the Ultimate universe both had a great start but I lost interest in most of the titles. I hope the Absolute Universe has a good run, I’ve enjoyed all three comics they put out so far, Wonder Woman was the biggest surprise for me and I like all the things happening in the Superman and Batman series. I just hope they can stick the landing
It is the new 52. They just dont need to stick to the same conventions. I think it can work because their not wonder woman and batman and such. Yes they call themselves it but so did dc gods and monsters. Where they might go is up to the writer.
How does this feel more hopeful and heroic Batman got a battle ax Superman laser beating people like it ain't nobody's business and Wonder Woman is literally the princess of hell but what what heroic are we talking about compared to what lol
Erudite analysis of the entirely overhyped & unjustifiably fawned-over ABS "Batman" that is simply a pale imitation of Miller's original Dark Knight vibe imho
5:08 that's how I feel about absolute superman like I just read it and I'm focused more on the dumb changes they made to him opposed to the story and when I'm reading the story I definitely don't want to see Superman fighting a team of peacemakers. He got a suit and it's a living armor suit and I'm like wth it just doesn't stick with me. My ranking is absolute Batman, Wonder Woman then Superman. Absolute Superman to me feels so out of character that I'm not drawn to the new changes of him well to be honest I'm not drawn to any of the new changes of any of the characters it's radical, dumb and stupid
No thats not true. The first ultimate universe stayed radically different and lasted years. Dc has the ability to do that as well. Especially if they bring in not just a few but all of the villains over. Giving dedicated arcs to even a screw up like condiment king. Hes likely been waiting for a decent contamination story line if they play it right.
I think it’s a little smarter than new 52. It’s an attempt to make heroes more gritty, working class. At least the main three books are off to a decent start. Can’t say anything about Absolute GL, Flash, Martian Manhunter yet. How long will it last? Maybe 2-3 yrs tops.
@ boring and more of the same is new 52 right? Yup. Cause Y’know Harley part of the Suicide Squad fits to lighten up the humor. Clark is a blogger. And Johns GL series had the sexy Star Sapphires. Never see that again.

The DC Comics New 52 Reboot fucking sucked. In fact, everything after Zero Hour: Crisis In Time has consistently sucked. DC stopped being good after 1994. Once 1995 rolled in, DC started getting worse and worse.
Best thing that can happen is a soft reboot to every thing that happened in the last 3 years that's why I love all in they didn't mention stuff that happened with chip except what happened in absolute power event which was horrible I don't care if it's called new 53 at this point if they can.make good stories because that's gone for a long time and absolute batman was amazing wonder woman was good and I dont read her except for this event and it was good super man haven't read yet and if he can be good as well that's a hopeful start

To be honest, I actually liked New 52 Superman and is relationship with Wonder Woman.
I did too. I mean Lois will always be Number 1 but the Wonder Woman romance wasn't too far out of left field.
Hopefully DC will bring them back together for the Absolute Universe.
@@michaelmacleod6517 they won't

God I miss the Earth One line 😭 DC never should have let that die
They didn't go back to post-crisis because post-crisis didn't sell well. Thats WHY they had to reboot in the first place.
I loved the New 52
@@WeirdScienceComics N52 ruined DC forever. Was DC being like Marvel.
@@jonnjones8263 what are you talking about No post crisis was fine it's 30 years of continuity but there's a there was a slum in comic book sales regardless that doesn't mean you get rid of that continuity and do the new 52 because guess what after 3 months the sales went right back to post crisis sales so really what are you talking about what are we talking about Most of the most iconic stories from Batman Superman in them came from post crisis we don't talk about that many new 52 titles and if we do it's mostly Batman so what did he do nothing really he got a few people in and then after that a lot of y'all gave up on the new 52 this is why they did DC rebirth but because the cells weren't fast enough which is always DC problem they did the dawn of DC and and then they brought back all the crap that we didn't like from the new 52 back into the continuity and wonder why I don't know why the continuity isn't working I don't know why DC comic books aren't selling really I wonder why how many times you going to get rid of continuity just because just cuz you want to try to attract new readers if you guys weren't there before you ain't going to be here now because most of y'all left That's the thing about it most of the quote unquote new readers for DC left after 3 months
@@EvandroACruz Exactly it's ruined them forever and a lot of people just don't seem to understand it it's the same reason why any kind of reboot that DC has been doing these past couple of years have failed because they constantly keep rebooting their continuity every couple of years to attract quote unquote new readership or new audience the new audience that don't even stick around for a year
The fact that of all DC characters the one that benefited the most from the New52 was Aquaman will never stop to be funny for me
You realize superman and batman are coming up on 100 years old. Soon they will be open for anyone to do their own take. DC needs to make more versions now to keep the trademarks active
this is what the new 52 should have been to begin with. and yes the Absolute universe is the new 52. and no the new 52 did not out sell marvel at all.
The problem is they don't trust themselves to keep continuity intact.
@yougottrolled5799 I don't think most of the people in mainstream comics today know what the continuity is not want to bother finding out.
@LibraGamesUnlimited i dont blame them why bother reading this if you gotta read that then find out the writer destroyed this character and then you got a Multiverse reset.
@@yougottrolled5799 Yeah, wiser heads than them got rid of the DC multiverse for a reason.
Yes, but at least this time is happening in a parallel universe. And it's better thought out and planned. So there's that.
Hey man. I voted for you in the presidential election.
@@DarthDread-oh2ne nice and same here as well
I never understood the need to make younger versions of existing characters.
Yeah Marvel kicked out 108 titles between ongoing, mini and one shots. It was an insane time as a retailer.
You hit the nail on the head in regards to the original Ultimate Universe... and that was the main reason why Ultimate Spider-Man was so crazy successful back then
I'm skipping these Absolute books.... but I feel that we will see the 19th issues of these titles... in fact, I think they will last around 3 years.
Idk man what’s the point in being cynical about everything, I’m just enjoying the ride right now. The absolute universe is a fun little side experiment that they’re doing and I’m interested enough to buy in. The mainline books have also looked promising, like Batman & Superman
Man it would be fun so put Wes and Deniz Camp in the same room together.
Just to see what would happen.
Absolute Universe Is Just New52 but worse, i love New52 and can't look at Absolute without urge to scream /lmao
Boomers ruin creativity
Wokies ruin creativity
Edgelords ruin creativity
Everything should be at balance to make reader be interested, but since media/DC bending a knee to favor one specific group it completely disregards others, makes plot be politically driven mess or child story.
They should have stuck with Earth One. Im not interested in Absolute. Earth One had good books with fresh takes.
A massive thankyou Wes. Since iv'e been tuning in every day , ive bought less and less shitty comics 💩 Thankyou Bro 🙏
I still buy what ever Tynion writes. I dont know how low or high you rate his work , but from the stuff i have read its been pretty good.
In the category of run its course, Batman White Knight. What would work in my opinion is to expand World’s Finest universe which should strip away the bloated families.
I liked a bunch of comics from the New 52 haha.
Naw, you just have bad taste. Absolute Universe is pretty good so far. Sales figures even confirm it.
This is a much needed entry point for new DC readers that is connected to regular DC continuity.
Smart.
It’s a good start, & it’s working. TON of new faces in shops, ( large number 1st time buyers discovering via TicToc)

🤷🏽♂️New 52 was fire 🔥! Of course the DC purist and gatekeepers ruined it with their constant crying like children, just like they did with the DCEU.
If the absolute universe brings back old reads like New 52 did (including myself) or new reads then it is a positive thing. With WB being the parent company I don't trust they can stick the landing. I have not read any abosulte titles, but i get the impression of a Elseworld type universe.
I think new 52 is better than this absolute universe
This is a lot better than New 52.
I Love New 52 so yeah I'm All for it
Edit: I got into DC Comic because of Finally seeing Superboy again and Justice League Cartoon at the time Death of Super to his Return, Batman Vs Robin, Teen Titan vs Justice League and this is Coming from someone who only watch Anime and Read Manga or Webtoon
I liked absolute Wonder Woman but I think it should’ve been a 0 issue
This is all to do with getting around copywrite problems. Which was also what New 52 was to an extent also. These arent meant to be the characters we know but bastardised versions of them that DC doesnt have to pay anyone for.
Absolute is actually a reboot, New 52 was a half assed soft reboot. No comparison. Ultimately, the novelty will wear off and it’ll be swept under the rug
It's not a reboot. It's an alternate. Like The Ultimate Universe.
It's not reboot
It's elseworld
Read Absolute Superman today and thought that it reminded me of the New 52 Superman with the armor uniform. He's all mopey, soy, and emo. Then there was all the class warfare on Krypton. Blah. Can I get some escapism? Didn't care for the book. I dont think the Absolute universe will make it beyond a year. I'll give it a few more issues to see if Aaron has something.
Give me Absolute Lobo !! Take my money!! The last Bastiach!
12:06 facts, people said the same thing when they saw the Justice League movie gods and monsters.
Oh, this what they justice league should be.
I don’t care what all you haters say - i like it!
Absolute Superman #1 is fantastic!
If we actually got Superman x Wonder Woman back this might be peak fiction.
nah... the new 52 replaced the mainline, this is just a side thing like the ultimate universe which is in my opinion the best way to explore new ideas with these characters.
The sales haven’t proved he’s “liked” beyond an incredibly small core.
Dude Batman didn’t murder anyone in the first issue
It's not in main continuity.
Yes, yes, yes, yes!!! ✅️ 📯! Over and over, this nails it 🔨
This is my problem with separate universe lines: why not just put the effort and energy into the regular universe? The first Ultimate Universe early on is a bit of an outlier, due to peak BMB and the genius of Mark Millar.
Most of the all-in books have started out pretty good so they are putting effort in the regular universe
there are enough talented comic book writers for Marvel and D.C.
I don’t hear anyone say anything like this.
0:33 THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING TOO😮🤠!
The absolute line has been nothing short of spectacular. Not like new 52.
Well fine............. The New 52 was great!
It is the new 52. They just dont need to stick to the same conventions. I think it can work because their not wonder woman and batman and such. Yes they call themselves it but so did dc gods and monsters. Where they might go is up to the writer.
No really, this feel more hope and heroic.
How does this feel more hopeful and heroic Batman got a battle ax Superman laser beating people like it ain't nobody's business and Wonder Woman is literally the princess of hell but what what heroic are we talking about compared to what lol
@treymykel And still they are more heroes that the New52 jerks.
Erudite analysis of the entirely overhyped & unjustifiably fawned-over ABS "Batman" that is simply a pale imitation of Miller's original Dark Knight vibe imho
This is just earth-1 again .
Yup, that’s why won’t read any of it. I am reading All In and so far so good.
But wasn't new 52 a reboot
i was gone so long form comics I loved allot of New 52. Alot started sucking and then I loved Rebirth. Then they killed that. I stopped.
All DC has now is pointless revamps every few years. They've lost the ability to tell good stories with the characters they already have.
Gritty and more working class sounds like The New 52.
@ boring and more of the same is new 52 right? Yup. Cause Y’know Harley part of the Suicide Squad fits to lighten up the humor. Clark is a blogger. And Johns GL series had the sexy Star Sapphires. Never see that again.
I have a question for Here: Who is your top five Batman love interests ?

4. Andrea Beaumont
5. Talia Al Ghul
That’s okay man. I love to have discussions about comic books. What do you think silver St. Cloud ?
@DarthDread-oh2ne honestly I can't determine where she stays because I've not really read any Batman issue where she shows up or maybe a few B:TAS episodes (if there were any) to make a clear decision.

ive been ewading wonder woman since second series around issue 40 no absoulte wonfer woman for me i also hated new 52 ww but read it anyhow
I liked new 52
The DC Comics New 52 Reboot fucking sucked. In fact, everything after Zero Hour: Crisis In Time has consistently sucked. DC stopped being good after 1994. Once 1995 rolled in, DC started getting worse and worse.
I wasn't impressed with Batman. I decided to drop it already.
Best thing that can happen is a soft reboot to every thing that happened in the last 3 years that's why I love all in they didn't mention stuff that happened with chip except what happened in absolute power event which was horrible
I don't care if it's called new 53 at this point if they can.make good stories because that's gone for a long time and absolute batman was amazing wonder woman was good and I dont read her except for this event and it was good super man haven't read yet and if he can be good as well that's a hopeful start
