  • In this video I once again "virtually preserve" a forgotten old product. In this case even when it came out it was probably very unknown. This is the Schneider Boston from 1993. The first HiFi system with a GUI (Graphical User Interface). I honor their efforts...

Schneider: I've heard of them, and I'm from the UK. Way back in the 1980s we had an Amstrad computer. Amstrad was a brand that pivoted from affordable hifi to computers. I love this channel. It's mostly random irrelevant facts about obscure technology, but presented in so ridiculously high quality that it captivates me every time. The high resolution footage, the crisp narration, the quirky music - it all fits together so well. I keep thinking back to a stereo system that I used to have, Panasonic SA-AK45 (took me a while to find the exact model). It had so many lights and buttons and an auto-changing CD tray... though I mostly used it as aux amplifier and never touched most of its functions. And the design of the whole thing just screamed "Y2K". These videos give off a similar vibe, showcasing how cool these systems were in their time.

I love Posy. In between his main videos which are of exceptional quality, he keeps us entertained with his Lazy Posy channel. That's nice right?!

What a great video and flashback! I've owned the tower that is shown on the right side on the brochure at 2:38. The Schneider Queens. It was a present from my older brother, as he bought himself a new stereo from Technics back then. For me as a 13 year old, only having a cassette radio, this was soo huuge. So now i had a CD Player (which shortly soon stopped working) and a Vinyl Player (which was super cheap built), and a double cassette deck + Radio integrated. (this worked the longest time). I recorded lots of stuff from the Radio with this thing back then. Luckily you could use it with a separate CD Player, hooked to the Aux Input. And the sound quality itself was decent, at least what i remember. Although the subwoofer also broke eventually. Still, i used this unit until the end of the 90's, before i got rid of it.
Looking back at it now, and the other stereo products Schneider did and that are shown here, it feels like they now are a rare collectors item now, catching an late 80's to early 90's vibe with it's special and elegant design.

Yet another wonderful Posy video. Shame about the overflowing stereo storage, but I know how that is with hobbies, hah. That volume display is weird, wonder why they decided to go with that scale.
    RIP Red Casette.
