Ok, I have searched out and listened to every pipe organ version of this on youtube and this by far is the Best. When I first heard it......it Brought me to tears yet again!
I dated a girl in Atlanta in the 60s. This song would come on the radio and she would be reduced to tears, but she could never say why. After listening to this version I think I understand a little better. There are no words to describe this. It is for the ages.
Some of the oldys are sacred this is probably one of them. I admire you with percivering with the piano/organ lessons. Its payed off.Yuor talented. Thanks
My God !!! This is what I want played at my funeral ! What a send off ! Just leave it for the very end, before everybody leaves and blow their minds , AND mine . . . I just almost went out of my body listening to this. It was definitely a spiritual experience.
Wow - Sounds fantastic. Nice job. This video should have 83 million views, rather than just 83 thousand! People should appreciate such talent and classic art. This is good (dream-world ) music to have a red-hair beauty girl with you on a nice sunny day. I enjoy hearing rotating and reverb organ music.
Had a chance to see/hear Friedemann in person today, at a church in Pleasant Hill, CA. A very interesting mix of pieces, concluding -- as he apparently does all concerts -- with A Whiter Shade of Pale. Just beautiful! I asked him if he had played the organ at the Mormon Tabernacle in SLC. No, but he's working on it. He is traveling the U.S., wants to play in each of the 50 states.
Beautiful beautiful arrangement. The Bach origins of Mr Fisher's work is a gift to this spectacular organ and the master organist. I truly wish I had been present at this recital, I expect it would have stayed with me the rest of my life.
Awesome. Loved it. I am a pipe organ junkie. You haven't experienced the majesty of music unless you hear a 50+ rank organ in an acoustically-appropriate auditorium, church or department store (Wanamaker's in Philadelphia has the world's largest working pipe organ - 23,000 pipes). The melody is a combination of Bach's "Air on G String" (yep, the infamous G string) and "When A Man Loves A Woman" by the immortal Percy Sledge. Brilliant in it's most appropriate use. Incredible.
I was just listening to the song and thinking it would sound amazing on full pipe organ, so I was happy to find this. Great rendition on a great instrument!
I love it. How did a church allow a secular song about a drunken seduction be played on a church organ? It proves Matthew Fisher deserves copywriter money. The song would not have been a hit without Matthew’s fantastic organ part. True, Booker wrote the melody, Reid wrote the words, but Fisher’s organ part was what made the song. I wish you filmed more of the bass pedals. I am used to David Knight’s bass playing on this tune. Bravo!
I can just imagine some confused older parishioners walking in thinking "Nah, it can't be Whiter Shade of Pale, right?" Throw in some "Inna gadda da vida", and that would really confuse people!!
Absolutely the best version I have heard of this piece. I much prefer it on a real pipe organ than on a Hammond B3. Where can I get the sheet music for organ ?

And to think a group of teenagers put this masterpiece together in the 60s

OMG This is truly one of the best versions (not just organ versions) of the song. BRAVO!!!
Can't tell if I want this played at my wedding or funeral. It's a bittersweet song that could work either way
Genau.

My God !!! This is what I want played at my funeral ! What a send off ! Just leave it for the very end, before everybody leaves and blow their minds , AND mine . . . I just almost went out of my body listening to this. It was definitely a spiritual experience.

Whooaaa...The organs do a thing to me that I cannot explain.
Me too since I was a kid watching my church organist play. I am a huge fan of the pipe organ.

Absolutely fantastic. This was meant to be played on a pipe organ.

It is already with you ( and myself , i might add ) - forever . A classic cover , and a joyous one - with much artistic licence .
I wonder if he's heard this! He really needs to! He would be so proud, especially since he was victorious in the higher court proceedings.
One word sums it up "Magic" Thanks for sharing,
Tom.

Beautiful Church, and of course the playing.

Brooker was the first to admit the debt he owes to his "classical" (including Baroque) training.
Because it's basically Bach.
Maybe the bishop saw "The Commitments."
I always assumed he’d borrowed from Bach when he came up with this.
It was already played in church 1968 on my brothers Wedding. but then again we are Catholic :-)
Beautiful
OMG this is hauntingly beautiful. It's the Hammond on steroids! Lol
This piece was an arrangement of Bach's works, it is good for play on pipe organ.
Well done. Very nice my friend! 👏👏

Throw in some "Inna gadda da vida", and that would really confuse people!!
How about Mr. Crowley ? Well, maybe not in a church.
Bravo!!!!! What a phenomenal interpretation of my favorite Procol Harum classic. All churches should have an organist like him. Thank you.
