Well what a pleasant surprise that was! Nice cheeky little number in this video, big thanks to Mr B for bringing her down! Gonna be working on the 180SX video tonight, then we got a sick R32 and a super charged Colt to come, all the nomzzzzzzz! You can keep up to speed with everything on my IG if you wish @monkylondon ... Hope you enjoy it peeps, cheers ML
Nothing better than a nice ML video to brighten your day. Slick editing coupled with some great music and a bit of a derv weapon to top it off. Big V would be proud ✌🏻
same wheel base as the saloons, tourers and coupes but different rear end setup. E36 compacts have a semi trailing arm setup similar to e30's hence they can be a touch snappy. Better for drifting/hooping in tight spaces though as its easier break traction.
See, it's cool shit like this that attracted me to your channel in the first place. You just don't, or can't, see shit like this in the US. Mr. ML coming in clutch with the vids breh! Thank you brother!
MONKY LONDON they build some sick 'SuperTurboDiesel' cars! They have a TH-cam and Facebook :) Might be worth seeing if you can review one of their cars one day! The guy who runs it is proper sound too 🙂
Dfekt Nsc normally only the 1.6-1.8L are 4 pots I believe. I'm not too big on my bmws but I'm sure anything above 2L whether it's petrol or diesel is normally 6 cylinder :)
Ive had e36 compact and they are cracking cars, should look up the 2 germans who put a V12 in one and probley was a headache to shoe horn in, but love the what mr b has done with the sills.....
@Monkey London - A simple correction: the E36 Compact rear suspension is different than the full sized E36. Full sized E36's use "Z-Multilink" rear suspension, Compacts use the older, more compact "semi-rear trailing arm" system that was used on the E30 chassis. BMW's Z3 also used this older design, so the compact is, effectively, the same as a non-M Z3 underneath the body, which is essentially an e36 front suspension mated to an E30 rear. M-cars were slightly different because they had slightly different geometry as part of the M-package.
Just to add to this. The Z3 4cly have the same parts as the E36 compact. The Z3 6cly has a wider track width and beefier rear trailing arms. The Z3m has the same track width as the E36 compact/Z3 4cly but is much beefier and better.
Any chance of getting some info how he achieved this build?....wiring being the main hurdle from the outside looking in. Would love to do a similar build.
MONKY LONDON Haha! I've wanted to give the 525D some more power since day one, but... It's been a daily/work car, so i need to fresh it up before even considering more power. 🙈
Lovely little bm. Did this car have a bov? Or is it just where the Mic is placed. I have just bought a stage 1 535d 340bhp and nearly 700nm love it. Great channel bud 👍👍👍
KALARADO Nice is that stage 2 then? Was thinking about doing that to mine think all it is is a decat pipe and bigger intercooler and map is that right?
Darren Paterson yea buddy. The 535D's are much more powerful... please put in a bigger intercooler then have it mapped again... it will transform the car again
Same as E36 coupe/saloon/touring, but not exactly - the rear end is 1:1 as E30 - differencial an suspension! It is a hybrid - front is E36, rear is E30. Which is very cool actually :) I've driven an E36 compact and it is a delight.
It is not exactly same as E30. Im not sure what are the differences exactly but I think the diff case and driveshafts are different size. Same goes for the Z3.
Strange, I've put polyurethane bushings on a E36 Compact, an the set was the same as for a E30. Also, rear E36 compact hubs install plug&play on every E30 (disk brakes from 318ti/323ti + 5x120 rim pattern). The diff is interchangable. Shocks, springs...What would be the difference? Check realoem.com and show me the diagram if you want ;)
I see you got some real life experience with this :) The thing is, e24, e28, e30(6cyl models), 2.8L Z3, MZ3 and Mcoupe's all came with medium case diffs, but the 318ti came with small case diff. That doesn't mean the medium case would not fit, but you would have to change the output shafts. The sway-bar is different too. That's what I was talking about. Either way, Im comparing 6cyl E30 with 4cyl E36/5. The 4cyl E30 rear-end should be mostly interchangable with 4cyl E36/5 and the same goes for 6cyl E30 and 6cyl E36/5. I'm not sure what you want me to point out on those schemes. The part numbers are just different look it up yourself.
Thanks for the reply! It turns out you can learn something new every day :) I was not aware of these facts and I thought everything in the rear was 1:1 E30:E36 compact.
When you drive this car did it feel like you pulled for g force because of the torque ( did you get thrown back in ur seat harder) I’m trying to figure if torque is that important
another banger fooking love it i live in Horsham nice to see how local the vids are aswell. i allways think to myself one day i might drive passed while your doing these vids or overtaken hahah restecpa for the work into this car aswell 👍and yes i did say restecpa haha should do a ML meet would me savage man and that is a fuckin banger of a tune heh
I have a stock 330d coupe (200bhp) but the thing can't get power down without spinning up so bad that the traction makes it feel like the rear corner is hitting bumps. Without traction on it's better but I'm losing a mm of tread every 300 miles. In the wet the traction is a waste of time and the car dives off the road with minimal throttle out of roundabouts or tight corners. As the car only cost a grand I don't want to buy an LSD so will it handle ok on bumpy country roads at 10 tenths with a welded diff? (in the dry). I'd like to get it chipped up a bit but at the moment the 200bhp is almost a waste of time so no point until I can actually get the power down. 1st and 2nd gear are literally a waste of time and 3rd will still put it in a ditch in the wet (with traction on). It had new rear springs when I bought it and I've got some new front shocks to fit now as one exploded on my favourite country road. Tyres are Firestone Roadhawks which get favourable reviews so I think the chassis was and will be ok. Wheels are stock with 225 45 17's. I was advised by my E46 mates to stick with standard suspension as M sport or stiff setups apparently are not good for bumpy road use at speed. Larger rims also tend to crack and 225 seems to be the tyre width of choice for most who are not using M3's. I was four wheel sliding with the traction on full time around every corner (at 6am on favourite road) before the shock blew. I just feel the open diff and lack of straight line traction is holding everything back. Tyre wear is even across all four tyres, and the car has a no expense spared full history. I love the look of the car, the interior and the engine but like so many of my motorbikes frustration might get the better of me and cause me to get rid of it if I can't drive it how I want. I've got other motors to use if I want to take it easy, I bought this for cheap speed, but speed without control is pretty pointless.
Maybe this question was here before but i just want to ask how these sideskirts are called :) they look killer and i would love to get them in the future for my e36

Hey man! Im thinking of buying an e46 330d for drifting, do you think that the low redline and the smaller powerband are a problem for some more serious drifting?
Looking to do this conversion, I’ve got e36 318 convertible which I really don’t want to scrap as now the block is leaking coolant. Could I get a donor e46 330d an use the all the parts? He said the engine was a straight swap, the gear box is from the e46 aswell, were the mounts changed? Is there a garage who would do the job 🤞🏽
What did you do with the diffrential and the driveshafts I got a e36 sedan with a m75n it can handle the power but dont want it to break down so i want to put stronger stuf in it
Well what a pleasant surprise that was! Nice cheeky little number in this video, big thanks to Mr B for bringing her down! Check your gmail Monky, i have got a car review for you haha
MONKY LONDON class intro song love it
Boosted Garage replied bro 👌
which shape colt though ?
The ti has a rear trailing arm design, its basically an e30 rear end, so it is actually more “snappy” then a sedan or coupe.
Strange having a car not screaming on the limiter on the channel! Ha Mad e36 though! 🤙
Mickey B I know right, thought we'd also do more normal type reviews haha
Straight pipe the Diesel
Super happy to finally see a beautiful little e36 compact on the channel!! 😁 😁 😁 😁
Jonathon Hawkins about time for sure man, deffo get some more bimmers on the channel ✌️
MONKY LONDON especially some compacts, have got one myself so have a fondness for them 😎 keep up the good work 👍👍👍
I would like to see you do some proper skids with a diesel, they’ve got the torque to keep the wheels spinning all day without breaking a sweat 🙂
The turbo sounds are always mint on your videos.keep up the good work man
Nothing better than a nice ML video to brighten your day.
Slick editing coupled with some great music and a bit of a derv weapon to top it off.
Big V would be proud ✌🏻

Aaron Deegan nice one Aaron much love brother

Oliver Scott cheers Olly
I have been out in a e46 330d "stock motor" hybrid turbo and 335d injectors superflow confirmed 425hp 750ftlb torque !It was a beast !
See, it's cool shit like this that attracted me to your channel in the first place. You just don't, or can't, see shit like this in the US. Mr. ML coming in clutch with the vids breh! Thank you brother!
The german ae86
just as prone to rusting to dust faster than you can blink
Love my 330d it’s a beast!
As a TDI owner in the US this is awsome! We need more diesel cars, but won't get them.
TDI is agrocultural in the way it sounds.
Jake R We need more diesel said no one ever. Why would you need more diesel, it doesnr sound good and doesnt feel right to even rev it
I'm a tdi owner too! bmw 330d might be my next though But if i lived in the US i would go petrol all the way
You deserve more subscribers your videos are spot on!
Good old m57. Sweet engine
Very tasteful nice neat little package. nothing useless and you just gotta love that defusor
I love a dirty diesel 😍 Try do something with DieselPumpUK one day! 😎
JacobBilson what's that J?
MONKY LONDON they build some sick 'SuperTurboDiesel' cars! They have a TH-cam and Facebook :) Might be worth seeing if you can review one of their cars one day! The guy who runs it is proper sound too 🙂
Good idea. I'm in the process of an om606 8mm super turbo diesel conversion myself. Got my diesel pump from luke.
Yes they do some amazing builds with the Mercedes OM603/6 diesels would love to see a video on that.
The only ML video where theres no limiter bashing. Wheres the real Monky London gone 😂😂😂
Jack Gedge John needs diesel, calms him down 😂
im a proud owner of a e39 530d, and i wont trade it for a gasoline engine, the m57 is still one of the best diesel engines out there.
quite a beasty this! love the sound of a 6clyinder diesel with a nice exhaust
MrLYNDON56games I thought is was a 4 pot
Dfekt Nsc normally only the 1.6-1.8L are 4 pots I believe. I'm not too big on my bmws but I'm sure anything above 2L whether it's petrol or diesel is normally 6 cylinder :)
Sounds fruity, tried to eat the mics lol
MONKY LONDON haha hungry bm then
ive got a 123d 280bhp and 480ft lbs + 500 miles to a tank easily cant go wrong!
as somebody that works in the music industry, I need to say Toby the intro music your using at the moment is top fuckin notch!
Craig Shovlin cheers Craig appreciate that man love music!
+MONKY LONDON 2 things I love in this life, 1 is an angry bassline and the other is an angry rev limiter 👌
Craig Shovlin couldn’t agree more brilliant music ✌🏻
I got a tuned 335d m3 killer 😁
This is sick ML 🤙🤙
Mac thanking you Mac ✌️ Next one is banging as well that red 180 I posted on my IG 💕
MONKY LONDON get on it Ahhhhhh 🤙🤙🤙
Ive had e36 compact and they are cracking cars, should look up the 2 germans who put a V12 in one and probley was a headache to shoe horn in, but love the what mr b has done with the sills.....
Gotta love the grunt sound of a straight piped six pot diesel though
"and I just thought id make em have a baby"
Dirty diesel power, currently got a stage 1 320d compact and they’re loads of fun, sounds like a truck and pulls like a train 😎
@Monkey London - A simple correction: the E36 Compact rear suspension is different than the full sized E36. Full sized E36's use "Z-Multilink" rear suspension, Compacts use the older, more compact "semi-rear trailing arm" system that was used on the E30 chassis. Alex Gilland thanks for info Alex noted ✌️
Just to add to this. The Z3 4cly have the same parts as the E36 compact. The Z3 6cly has a wider track width and beefier rear trailing arms. The Z3m has the same track width as the E36 compact/Z3 4cly but is much beefier and better.

Nice to see something a bit different. Looks a really tidy car. You must of enjoyed it Dorking to Crawley, that’s a fair trot 👍
I have a '13 X5 Diesel full emissions delete and straight pipe exhaust tuned to 360hp 550ft/lbs, its a beast even for its size and weight!
probably the best looking ti ive ever seen
4:27
Monky - "It's really quite in here"
Biker - "Hold my beer..."
Hoooly that thing makes some great noises!
Gotta love a compact got one as my skid car with 2.8 init lovely to skid
Surprised you don't see more diesel drift cars, surely the huge torque makes it a good choice? Maybe its down to the low redline.
Kieran Horner maybe it’s they sound like ass
Hmm, this might inspire me to do something with my 525! :D
Berserkir 79 bad influence all these videos lol 🙊
MONKY LONDON Haha! I've wanted to give the 525D some more power since day one, but... It's been a daily/work car, so i need to fresh it up before even considering more power. 🙈

Darren Paterson mine's an 535d lci with 390bhp and 730nm torque absolute rocket✌
KALARADO
Nice is that stage 2 then? Was thinking about doing that to mine think all it is is a decat pipe and bigger intercooler and map is that right?
Darren Paterson that torque is low for a 35D... 30D's produce much more torque with a remap and cooler
Moe Ali mines is a 535d man and I'm just going by what previous owner told me . Think I'll get it on the dyno and get proper figures
Darren Paterson yea buddy. The 535D's are much more powerful... please put in a bigger intercooler then have it mapped again... it will transform the car again
I am curious how tow straps are mounted under the bumper. Very nice and clean.
Makes me want to buy a compact and get my e39 530d and it to have a baby...
Love your videos ml so awesome
any more videos on this car? with more sound and drifts? :)
Awesome car! Crazy drifting on those roads! haha
Car sounds awesome for a diesel and looks nice
Timothy Charter Timmy 🐒
Is the diff from 330d or from old engine and what whas the original engine
LOL good shit. I have never seen this BMW model modified
I just saw you on NITRO TV....you're doing a good job... Regards from Liechtenstein

More diesels plzz :D
gulshan20 game
Love it!
Foookin mental, love it 😍
Blinded by the light🤙
Can you tell me what are the biggest technical problems to be solved? Wiring? Engine mount/amount of space?
Love it👍🏻

As people are requesting more Diesel's I have a Octavia vrs tdi soon to be 240bhp with 500nm of torque if your interested :)
Yeah diesel!! Keep them coming!
That would be awsome to see on our drift poligon.....
Super sick! 👌🐒
Martin Allan thanks Martin glad you like it bro #earlyaccess ✌️
Excellent build. Loving this, more of the same please!
Wow make me one! I would buy one them all day long!!!!

Maybe this question was here before but i just want to ask how these sideskirts are called :) they look killer and i would love to get them in the future for my e36
I have e39 530d with upgraded turbo and injectros pushing 370hp and 700nm sweet bullet prof engine
Paul Browne still good results mine was running biturbo :) and many other mods like bigger intake valves :)
thats why i have two cars :D
Need more John action !
Why are diesels so popular...Only time I'd ever buy a diesel is if I needed to pull a trailer or plough a fuckin' field.
Yet almost every BMW, Mercedes, VW I see up here in Stoke is a fuckin' Diesel...
Gobby Prick they're easily tuneable and cheap enough to run. 40/50 bhp from a map alone which is £300 average.. I'm from stoke myself too and yes there's a few around here. they love um in Ireland
economy, tax, reliable, good value
Very sick e36 compact, mad build, What intro music is used??
A bit late comment, but how did he manage to put the wires together. I am planing to start the exact same swap soon, I just cant find any info on the problem.

Love my 325d n57 powerhouse lol
How you get the tubo to dump sound like that.
Sounds great.
Is it the m57 or m57n
Turbo gt2260v or gt2256v
Awesome....Rear diff/Ratio? Driveshaft?
330d rear end
I wanna see how the subframe is set up
When are you coming to Northern Ireland to see some starlets 😉
you drove past my house
Rory McLennan nice and quiet 🙊
for sure
how often does john go by your house?
I love Diesel power
So what do we think the 0-60 actually is then ?
How about the weight on front and back? Is it drivable?
I'm a simple man, I hear rev limiter, I like!
Iirc, rear isn't same setup as e36 coupe/saloon it's similar to the e30/z3 rear end.
Isn't it the same as Z3 and slightly different than E30?
Matej Sommer something like that lol
Hey man! Im thinking of buying an e46 330d for drifting, do you think that the low redline and the smaller powerband are a problem for some more serious drifting?
