Im a huge Aquaman fan. Hes my favorite. I walked into my LCS and got a pull list just for this series. I havent walked into my LCS since 2019 when Hawkman and Aquaman last had a series and when i lost my job i had to cancel it. Now with a new Aquaman book i cannot wait
I am a fan of all the characters at DC (favorite being Sups) however Aquaman always baffled me due to him not having any mainstream powers outside of communication with sea animals. I am elated by the idea of him having powers outside of that and 1 being hydrokenisis; it’s an under used power set imo! 🧠 💧
I'll definitely check out Aquaman, it sounds great. As for your recommendations, I was surprised to see Hellverine on here. I never even gave it a chance. I did like Detective Comics this week. However, I thought the best comic this week from the big 2 was Absolute Wonder Woman.
Definitely looking forward to Aquaman being the badass he's supposed to be, instead of being "Queen Mera's husband and stay at home dad" 🙄. Oh the damage kelly sue make to Aquaman was almost criminal.
Jeremy Adams is the best DC writer since Geoff Johns stopped pushing his DC Rebirth initiative! I would say that DC Rebirth ended when DC launched Infinite Frontier in March of 2021. This is about when Jeremy Adams came on the scene writing for DC comics. He preceded to fix the stain of Heroes in Crisis and brought Wally West and the Flash family back to a readable state. Then he course corrected Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern universe after Geoffrey Thorne ruined the entire GL lore. Now it's time to bring back Aquaman to the state Geoff Johns left him in or better. 2025 is looking up!
Rebirth ended when they brought in Bendis and decided to go with Snyder’s Dark Knights Metal storyline as a universe-wide event. It wasn’t supposed to be. They ended up going with that and all the nonsense Bendis was pushing instead of Doomsday Clock and the Rebirth storyline.
I never heard of the Bender family of psychos until I read this issue of Redcoat. I like that Johns uses obscure moments in American history in this series.
Aquaman is definitely gonna be the biggest book for me in 2025. I haven't read much Aquaman so this'll be my first ongoing and I couldn't have asked for a better creative team. Jeremy Adams is easily my favorite writer at DC (along with PKJ) and John Timms, in my opinion, is such an underrated artist and I'm glad he's finally given a great writer.
Ghost machine titles are my go to currently. Late to the game on the energon universe titles but I’m enjoying Void Rivals and Transformers from them. Still waiting for the new gi Joe to introduce snake eyes
The only thing that makes me nervous is that what is currently happening to Jeremy Adams is very similar to what happened with Joshua Williamson after ironically his Flash run. Don't get me wrong I am excited for more Green Lantern and of course the upcoming GL Corps. and Aquaman. But, I just don't want to see him spread too thin. I mean it seems that Williamson managed to get back on his feed and sarficies were made. Still, we don't want great talent to burn out too fast!
Jeremy Adams is great. His Flash Gordon is awesome. And his work on Flash was good. Can’t wait for Aquaman in his hands. Kelly Sue’s run was atrocious. Especially taking over from Dan Abnett( my favorite work of his in DC rebirth era).
He can use his powers to summon some of his friends and then whip me up a serving of fish and chips. While your at it get me a Sam Adams to. Thanks mate.
Detective Comics? Really? I don't know guys. It was better than the last issue, but Batman seems like a bit of a dummy in this one. Teens dying. Something from teens' blood is in the serum. The World's Greatest Detective should at least suspect something already and not be befuddled. The whole premise of him taking some miracle drug without somehow testing it first feels odd. Not to mention bedding the daughter of his parents' killer. I know he's not aware of it, but it's just unnecessary. Big hopes for Aquaman though.
For Action Comics, I like that the Superman Family and J’onn were able to trick Xa-Du and the Phantom Zone criminals into returning to the Phantom Zone after Clark told Mon-El that he’s going to find a way to save him. I also like that Clark planned to make sure that the Phantom Zone can have redemption. The missed opportunity should’ve shown Jon interacting with Mon-El and realizing that the Mon-El from the Bendis Legion is from an alternate timeline or parallel earth. Overall, this comic is great. For the Supergirl backup, at least that Kara was able to save the prisoner and the prisoner’s brother by making sure that they fuse together to understand the world or something. Also, Kara talking to Karen that she assumed that Clark sent her on a mission because understanding something that’s beyond the destruction of Krypton. Overall, this comic is fine. For Silent Knight Returns, I like that the JLU, Santa, Mrs. Claus, and others worked together to defeat the Silent Knight and his forces and save the holidays before they and the rest of the superhero community have a party, which resulted in Clark and Bruce inviting Santa to join the JLU (which is their gift to him, which is nice and wholesome). Overall, this comic is great, wholesome, and a great way to spend the holiday season. For the Brave and the Bold, here is what I have to say. For the Bat-Mite and Zatanna backup, I like that we get to see how Bat-Mite and Zatanna knew each other that spans six decades of her history, including her origins, meeting Bruce before he became Batman (although I prefer Zatanna to be a few years and a generation younger than and had a crush on Batman), joining the JLA, meeting Constantine, and forming the JLDark. Overall, this backup is good! For the Wonder Woman and Plastic Man backup, I like that Diana and Eel worked together to defeat Roulette. Also, Flashback of how Eel and Roulette known each other, even though Eel made his debut as Plastic Man in 1941 and Roulette was born in 1951 (as shown in the 2004 JSA storyline JSA/JSA and is the niece of the original Mister Terrific). Overall, this backup is good. For the Onomatopoeia backup, it’s interesting that we get to see Onomatopoeia’s life as a civilian before he has to go to work by shooting the Maintenance Man to get rid of the noise or something. Overall, this backup is good. For the Animal Man backup, I like that J’onn and Maxine were able to save Buddy before she realized what the Red actually meant. Also, J’onn drinking out of a “#1 Dad” cup, which is nice. Overall, this backup is good. For Black Canary, I like that Dinah Drake trained her daughter Dinah Laurel Lance on preparing to fight against Shiva (making sure that Dinah Laurel would never quit because she’s a fighter) before Dinah Sr. to Dinah Jr. that she must win the match for both of them and to make Dinah Sr. proud. Overall, this comic is good! For Green Arrow, I like that Oliver told Benitez about what he knows about Senator Foley before they (with Hayes’ help) tracked down the Fresh Water Killer and learned who he is under the mask. Overall, this comic is good! For JLU, I like that the JLU worked together to defeat Darkseid’s Parademons while talking about their personal lives, including Dr. Occult knowing J’onn’s identity as John Jones and became a superhero decades before Superman’s debut, Diana and Mary taking about how their similar to each other (in which Mary, who would have her pre-Crisis Earth-S memories, would tell Diana that she met her pre-Crisis Earth-Two self in 1942 as shown in two issues of All-Star Squadron), and the people in the Watchtower staying alert on upcoming attacks (in which I hope that Airwave will tell the truth and make up for it several issues from now). I also like that Al Rothstein, Ray Palmer, and Ryan Choi were able to remove a civilian’s powers in Singapore to make sure that those powers would be returned to someone, teasing their upcoming Atom Project comic. Overall, because of the Mark Waid writing and Dan Mora art, this comic is great! For Power Girl, It’s just Karen defeating Ejecta (who is going to be fixed up by Symbio because foreshadowing another storyline), seeing Omen being okay, and mentioning her original civilian identity has bought a building (with her other civilian identity whose name I won’t say is broke). That’s it. For Superman, I like that Clark and Lois have their date on the moon, in Gemworld (where Amethyst, who should remember her entire history from her debut in 1982 to the present, sent them here to bring peace or something), and in Smallville, where (in all of these places) Clark told Lois what Time Trapper told him about Doomsday before the Aftermath arrived to make sure that Earth brings Doomsday to them or else. Also, three interludes with shows Jimmy and Silver Banshee on a date, Doomday dreaming about killing Superman (because of the Black Mercy), and Lex and Mercy having a chat. Overall, this comic is great! For Flash, I like that Wally (with Jai and Irey’s help) was able to defeat Weather Wizard (who last appeared in Jeremy Adams’ Flash run where he is a reformed criminal working for Mayor Wolfe back in 2022). Also, Irey seeing all of her dad’s adventures from his origin in 1959 to the present. Overall, this comic is good! For ASM, I like that Peter and Dr. Strange have a chat about what he’s supposed to do with the Scions of Cytorrak before Peter (as the Spider Supreme) was able to defeat two scions. Also, Shay (whose relationship with Peter would result in them breaking up) taking to Aunt May about Peter’s absences and excuses or something. Overall, this comic has fine. For Spider-Boy, I like that Bailey and Spider-Girl have a chat about how they know each other and that Bailey realized that he fought Spider-Girl back when she was Funhouse in the mid-2010s before they resume their tournament. Also, Huberto Ramos art because flashbacks and set during Mark Waid’s Champions run, Tabitha sending Bailey his homework, and Hulkette being there because New Champions tease. Overall, this comic is good.
I love all of your guys' recommendations. But I still think you all are sleeping on Violator: Origin 4 (spoilers: Rasputin is in it; Lucifer is in it; I love how Violator hides among us in plain sight wearing human meat suits), Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns 5 (bah humbug you Grinches; this was a really good ending to a great DC/Santa crossover Christmas story), Justice League Unlimited 2 (just because Mark Waid is a jerk with his social media opinions is not a reason to not read a killer slam dunk series by him; if Donald Trump wrote a Mark Millar caliber comic book series in his off time when he is not insulting someone, deporting millions of American citizens, or ruining our trade relations with other countries, I would be reading the crap out of that), and Absolute Wonder Woman 3 (okay, I agree the art is not the greatest; but unlike the other 2 Absolute series, the creators are actually doing something interesting and unique with the main character, the side characters, and their world).
Since I was a little kid reading Aquaman by Bob Haney and Nick Cardy, I have been a big fan of "The King of the Seven Seas". I am so psyched that he is getting his own book again, and it's being written by the best writer in comics today--Jeremy Adams!!!
@Thinking Critical: What do you think about what is happening with the latest “Superman” test screening buzz and that the rumor of Matt Reeves Batman may end up in James Gunn’s DCU due to not just a delay to 2027 but also at the same time Brave and the bold also got delayed as well.
I was concerned until I remembered that the sites reporting on Superman are the same sites that reported that Kathleen Kennedy was being fired for THREE STRAIGHT YEARS. Fan sites have no real idea what is going on and just speculate
Weird that you recommend detective this week. I feel like last issue was as good if not better. Not that it was a bad one this week I did enjoy it. But why is Batman testing this drug now, after already taken it? Why does he not immediately come to the conclusion that the people making the drug are the ones killing kids? Is his mind deteriorating too? Lol
I enjoyed Geiger #9. Can’t wait for a showdown with him and Joe. Got some other stuff, but nothing to write home about. Solomon Kane is the biggest comic I’m looking forward to next year. Hook ‘em Horns! Good vid.
@Vader_25 There was social commentary, but not in the way they complained about in their assessment of it. They read the word “privilege” and assume Tom Taylor is talking about white privilege when it was very much obvious it was about the privilege that comes with being a wealthy billionaire.
@@NegativeReaperdon’t speak logic hear sir. The Gen x golden girls don’t understand it and instead would just rather sit and mock things…. Not unlike the view.
did you get a chance to read Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-man #1, in which a teen MCU animation Peter Parker who is not even Spider-man yet is more responsible and cares about other people than Amazing Spider-man. lol.
I hope that DC bring back long time forgotten books and teams like Legion Of Super-Heroes in 2025 too.Taylor's Detective Comics is boring for me,nothing really special happens.

Flash Gordon?
@ yup. It’s great. I never even knew anything about Flash Gordon before. Great art too.
For me it's Jeremy Adams and Phillip Kennedy Johnson. Wildly consistent across all their work imo
Hama and Mooneyham killing it on GI JOE , thanks lads!
Bring back Topo the octopus. And I know I'm in the minority here, but I want his Ocean Camouflage costume back.
I havent seen aquaman use the water constructs since Batman the and the bold TV show.

The return of the King of Atlantis!!🔱
Lol. I just listened to a podcast about the Bloody Benders about an hour ago. Now I've gotta go read Red Coat.
Outstanding!
Aquaman needs a bigger beard though.
Aquaman comics are fun to read. I was never a fan of Kelly Sue deconik run. I love the world of Aquaman, has that sword and sorcery feel to it.
I have to warn you. Don’t watch Shortyrara.
@ please explain. I’m getting back into reading comics.
Jeremy Adams is great. His Flash Gordon is awesome. And his work on Flash was good. Can’t wait for Aquaman in his hands. Kelly Sue’s run was atrocious. Especially taking over from Dan Abnett( my favorite work of his in DC rebirth era).

Character assassination
Garth died in Blackest Night. Not sure what happened to the new one.
Aquaman, GL Corps, and also Battle Beast by Kirkman/Ottley are my most anticipated

Aquaman is the worst superhero
Namor is worse.
Gwen pool, Wiccan, Hulkling, Half of the newer X-men characters, Spiderboy, Harper row, duke thomas, etc. there’s a lot worse superheroes than Aquaman
