Pont Du Gard is a story worth mentioning. Rome had aqueducts, and France is a country where one of them still stands, a very prestigious one. In other words, it is a bridge over the Gard River with a very rich past dating back to the first millennium AD.
During the film, I will show you this extraordinary structure based on my own photos and those of my friend - because this place is now within our easy reach.
I will tell you about the specifics of this aqueduct, which is one of the masterpieces of Roman engineers still standing in the south of France. You will learn how this structure was built and whether it was really necessary. Regardless of the motivations of the ancient Romans, it is still in good shape and if you love History and Rome, it is definitely a must-see.
However, all this would not be possible today if it were not for its early restoration from the Middle Ages to almost recent history.

Widać że budowa to bardzo skomplikowana inwestycja, logistyczna i inżynieryjna. Tylko zastanawiam się, po co budować akwedukt w miejscu gdzie wody jest pod dostatkiem w studniach. Czyżby rzeczywiście fanaberia?

@@panzer-modelmaciej raczej tak, kwestia prestiżowa. Nie opodal jest miasto Nimes, duża aglomeracja rzymska w Galii w tamtych czasach z amfiteatrem, forum, fontannami itd. Blisko samej Italii więc chciano się pokazać zapewne na prowincji, a Rzym było jeszcze wtedy na takie konstrukcje po prostu stać w swoim zbytku.
