Another Castle in southern Małopolska and the Legend accompanying it. Castles are also my passion. So today I wanted to present you another story related to this place.
The episode is about a trip to Rytro. A very picturesque place. An old medieval castle rises above the Poprad valley, which once guarded the border of the Kingdom of Poland and the trade route and was basically a watchtower. Prince Piastowski had this in mind and placed his starosta there, who turned out to be a cruel lord. He ruled with a heavy and strict hand. Soon his position increased for reasons that are not entirely clear to us. In any case, it was related to reaping financial benefits that did not entirely reach Krakow. Prussia and the Crusader Order in Pomerania became richer. Ultimately, the Nobleman ended his life there by writing his will. Jan Długosz quotes this Old Polish writing, which contains directions to the treasure hidden in the Castle or in its immediate vicinity in Rytro.
I will present this history a bit by visiting the recently (partially) rebuilt Nowy Sącz fortress. The story is true because many people have already searched for the treasure based on Długosz's notes. And who knows, maybe the ghost is still guarding the wealth. Apparently, she can be heard repenting for the greed, betrayal and atrocities committed during her life.
