its funny. im sure i speak for majority of people in the comments. but we all learn so much off him. we all now know what rods and reels to use with said lure and now know how to fish and use all these lures. great! thanks gene! only one problem.. how tf am i suppost to obtain all that gear to use with lack of benjimens due to bills to pay every month?? 😣
I caught my first bass while bank fishing on my first ever baitcaster reel with a Texas rig by watching ur beginner vids from how to spool my real to how to tie a knot. Thanks Gene I could use a lot more advice as I’m just learning I live in Chattanooga Tn. Love the videos
Gene! You are right on the money. I am 60 years old. My military back pack is full. 45 pound's or more. Just got a day fishing bag! To fill for that day's fishing only. It works! Thanks, Gene! My buddy and I love your videos. Bank fishing is are thing. No room for a boat! Pro bank fishing just started the club. For Bank fishermen. Shawn
Great tip about splurging on the terminal tackle box. I get so tired of picking bullet weights out of worm hooks and split shots out of swimbait heads. I need to upgrade to a box like the one you showed. Didn't realize until this video that those prevent the flopping around.
Ya i bought one of those plano 3600 boxes for my terminal tackle. I really like it. I found it cheaper on Amazon than TW. I also dont use a regular backpack cause i dont like the boxes vertical. I use BassPro's XPS fishing backpack. its red and u put your boxes in horizontal. U can get four 3600 size boxes in it.
I'm so glad you are talking about this I have a kids school back pack and everything under the sun is it. The tackle box you showed, Glasses, flashlight, extra floats, a can of corn for the kids to fish with, pliers, matches, scissors, bug spray, crappy bait pellets, suntan lotion, hand sanitizer, rags, baby wipes, money just in case, rubberbands, peanut butter craker packs And although my boyfriend brings his tackle box he knows I got us taken care.of. Biut it has gotten to be much and I dreed picking it up. But I m going to call this video a sign from above and eliminate. Because I pack as if I'm camping or hiking. Lol
Hey Gene can you do a “Tackle Tuesday” on about how to pack tackle and how many rod setups is acceptable as a co-angler? Such as backpack? Or small boxes or even plastic bags? Just a thought. Hope you see this comment.
I agree on all counts. Carry light weight backpack or sling bag and the 3 setups recommended. I use a medium light spinning for finesse, 6’,10” medium baitcasting rod and a 7’ medium heavy baitcasting rod. Rods that are to long are hard to cast with a lot of overgrown ares when bank fishing.
Great video FlukeMaster. I've definitely downsized my backpack for bank fishing. I have a Pacifun over the shoulder backpack. Fits 2 3600's & 1 3400 for my terminal. Then about 6-8 bags of plastics. My pliers and scissors, and that's about it. Bottle of water if it's a hot day out and plan on being to far from the truck or out longer. Usually only 2 rod&reel combos.
I prefer a duffel bag over the backpack. The backpack excels at transporting gear over longer distances but lacks on usability/quick access and seems to be more cumbersome for me. I like to keep a mixed case of plastics. Reason being, If I use a plastic I might not want to return it to it's original plastic bag which could ruin the bunch. Though I'll only do that if the plastic has been worn in pretty good, and it's nice to have a mixed case for ease of use. I do try to separate colors within it so colors don't bleed into each other and definitely wouldn't use a good case. It's more convenience then anything tho.. There's a lot of science going on which I think a lot of us don't understand. With that said I have had plastics melt cases in the past. For the kayak I have dedicated gear, (or try to) for things like pliers, scissors, tape, license, and anything else I want on my person I now use a waist bag/tool bag waist strap. It's basically my essential kit for fishing that I take no matter what. Good tip I'm gonna have to add sun glasses to that kit! Like the terminal tackle boxes.
Funny, had the same process as you did. 2 36s and 1 one of the smaller ones. Worms and softs stay in packages and in the store bag. I simply wrap the bag closed or tie it. Then place in my backpack. Scissors on the side pocket and needle noses..lol
I used to carry the old school tacklebox but I upgraded to the bag and it's a lot easier than travel on foot with one less thing to carry in your hands
Thanks again Fluke! I'm going to send this to some of my nephews and friends who like to bring the kitchen sink when I take em fishing. Lol (not to mention, I needed to hear it.The kayak gear has been getting heavier lately. )
This is a excellent tip, found a military 40L backpack for under 40.00 on amazon its huge and I can fit about 4 of the plano boxes in there but I too have the issue with term tackle flopping around and even bought a lure lockbox with the gel on bottom and that was waste. But let's talk about that wall you got there lol. Still need to convert you to a kentucky fan
Always bring at least two rods and reels if you can. If you lose a floating lure and it pops up, you can cast for it with the second rod. If you break one rod or reel, you can keep fishing with the spare. I transport them with two Velcro strips to stop them from rattling, twisting, and abrading each other.
My pond bag is somewhere around 50 lbs. I'd rather be over prepaired than under. Even though I never use all of it during one trip haha. Oh, and I also carry 4 or 5 rods with me. Gets a bit cumbersome but I can cover any situation I come across.
I always used a trolley with a toolbox tackle box and a huge bag of terminal tackle and extra baits. Really tried to downsize and maximize tackle organization, but I always end up bringing too much and trying to experiment with new techniques and what not. Will try to implement some of these to make things more optimal ^^; ((I rather be over prepared then under).
I use the Chrome brand messenger bag for bank fishing. Any messenger bag is great, but the chrome one is built with some easy one hand features to sling it in front of u without taking it off and great pocket design with a big internal 2-way waterproof liner. If it works for cyclist messengers in nyc, it’ll work for bank fishing too hahah.
I'm planning on buying a Kastking Perigee II baitcasting rod which comes with 2 interchangeable tips, medium and medium light (although most people said they feel like medium and medium heavy) so I can have both without needing to pay for 2 rods and reels
I feel the same way it’s just a different scenario. Our reservoirs are nothing but electric bass. Most of our lakes are electric and the only way we can really fish and catch nice fish on a consistent basis is up the Susquehanna or the upper Chesapeake Baltimore has reservoirs but for bank area fission public access, but you have 50 people in one area so I’ll try to look for areas that like you said I take three bait casters and I take to open face reels one finesse to strong fighters and my bait casters are for my bigger baits. I use my open face for my Ned rig, but when I go to Virginia, enter Florida fish right past Tampa at my brothers house in Bradington man. I catch a 25 pound limit within three hours it’s amazing and quite headbanging that these other states have better fishing and to get good smallmouth I have to go to the Potomac in DC, but I understand and I get it I watch all your videos brother you’re the reason I got me a kayak I just got another canoe fiberglass and I just got my motor on there. I got a 55 pound maximum inducer by Minnkota. All I have is my wife not looking for sympathy but I’ve been on my own since I’ve been 16 years old both my parents died of drug overdose And fishing has always been my way of coping in life. I just ordered some stuff from mystery tackle and mega bass and never got my orders. FedEx sent them to another property. They took a picture of the house. It wasn’t mine and I had a bunch of tackle storage to do with the boxes I ordered and I’ve ordered over $1000 since March and I don’t know if they think I have money or they just wanna screw me over I got 24 ounce cameras seven days a week all year long and all my packages come in except for the real big one why do people want to get over on others fission as a family circuit Jensen I love watching your brother. You’re the reason I got a kayak.
Good video. Just moved here to Minnesota, heaps of good bank fishing opportunities (the state record bass caught in a lake 5 mi. from me). Anxious to get started. Thanks.
Growing up in OH/WV, there was always water to fish freely. Down here in SC, *everything* is private. If a large puddle form from a storm, they rush out and build a neighborhood around it...
You forgot the most important thing to bring bank fishing. Patience. Less options means you have to stay longer to catch fish. Also fish one spot then move 25 to 50 yards down then come back to that spot and you may catch more. Be flexible and adapt to the conditions. 😁
That's some great advice. I'm just beginning bank fishing over the past couple months and have really been frustrated with my lack of results. I've done the fan casting thing and moved on, but have never attempted to return to a spot that yielded no results. Fish move, don't they! ;)
gene great vibs I boat fish only still trying learn when to switch lures but then someone said different rod reel to keep it simple on a boat please show how to go fish a lake
Can you get away with 1 medium spinner and 1 medium heavy baitcaster? Glad you mentioned keeping soft plastics in the bags. Vids are awesome! 2 weeks ago I knew nothing and now I feel somewhat knowledgeable after watching so many of your vids!
Flukemaster this is one of the bags I’m looking at along with maybe also the Flambeau Ike 50. Thanks again for all the work you put into these videos. www.cabelas.com/product/CABELAS-ADVANCED-ANGLER-BACKPACK/2398196.uts
Thanks for the tips. I've been using empty medicine bottles to keep my hooks, swivels and split shots in. And other some stuff that seem to slide around my boxes. What kind of reel and rod combination would you recommend that kind of covers everything bank fishing. I live along the Mississippi River. We have allot of rocks on the banks. I don't have the money to buy allot of tackle or rods and reels. I have two 7" Shakespeare Tiger Spinning rod and reels I use for bottom fishing only. But I do love using jigs, spinners, plastics and Crank baits. I had a rod and reel I was using but it snapped. Mostly because it was old and allot of use. Thank you again I always enjoy your videos. I can't afford expensive stuff. So have to be real cheap and I do mean cheap for now. Like under 50 dollars.
Gene I have a question about hooking bass in the lower jaw with worm hooks. I was fishing may 5 today Every smallmouth had the hook in it lower jaw. I have never seen it before
For anybody readin the comments know this. i recently switched to a backpack tacklebox. WHY??? you might ask the answer is very simple you see my handle plano tacklebox would spill and tip over so much making it be a headache to deal with so i what i did was i went to academy picked up 2 $3.50 plano tackle binders came home and meticulously stored my tackle nice and neat looking. Then what i do is i store my soft plastic baits ZOOM AND BERKLEY POWWERBAITS in a shoe box then put the berkley powerbait and zoom baits i want to take with me in a 2 1 gallon size bags this way it looks nice and neat. Then for christmas i got a bass pro shop gift card and a walmart tackle binder so then i went to bass pro shop and purchased holiday baits so i can do holiday fishing challenge. Then in the top compartment near the logo of the backpack i store anti bacterial hand wipes with 1 pair of latex gloves to protect my paws and husky needle nose pliers and 1 pair of cutting pliers with me at all times. so you see with me taking all this in the backpack i dont have to worry about my backpack spilling or tipping over.
Hi, Gene. Love your videos. I'm taking up fishing, but am taking up motorcycle camping as well. I was wondering if you (or anyone reading this) knew of a good collapsible fishing rod that would fit in a motorcycle helmet sized space?
Hey Fluke are you affiliated with Plano or any other company making boxes? With the popularity growing in the kayak fishing industry and the number of people going to these tackle backpacks where most are using 3600 size boxes, I feel like these companies are missing out by not offering specialty boxes in this size. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see something like the Plano Edge Jig Box offered in a smaller package.
I'm not sponsored by them right now. The Edge box that I held up is their 3600 one but I agree they need some of the specialized boxes. I'm sure those are planned, they just have to show that they ones that they have are selling well first.
New Jersey has a ton of bank fishing? I've fished banks this year in numerous spots & have walked away with nothing every time .... ... the second I step on a boat, I'm catching PB's & reaching catch-limits :D hahah I wish I knew of more/better places
I was just looking at the ugly stik carbons spinning rod and trying to figure out what rod to get then this video popped up at the perfect time. I would like to see a review on the carbon rods their isn't a good one on TH-cam.
Is there any benefit to a tackle backpack? We got $40 one that's full sized with one of those dropped face compartments that nice and neatly hold your 3600 boxes oriented in a horizontal position? I'm being super specific on purpose. Lol I could either go to the thrift store and get a $9 book bag, or I can get a $40 book bag for free off of Amazon. I tend to hike pretty aggressively when I'm fishing so that's why I'm considering a more purpose-built book bag.
Awesome video, currently bank fishing a lot...question though, for the medium heavy what action would you recommend. I’m slowly building on the rods and reals, but do need a medium heavy but wondering if I should go fast or moderate action. Thanks fluke
do too physical limitations ... I find a spincaster reel is my option. and docks close to parking... ??? any suggestions. I doubt I could get in and out of a kayak or get it on/off my caravan.
I like Shimano Conquest rods and Shimano $700 reels. Buy reels from Japan. The yen has fallen so much, you can get them for 70 percent less than in the USA.
They are good kayaks. I'm just not happy that they copied the hull design of the Bonafide in their latest kayak. They used to have original ideas but not anymore.
This was an excellent topic! Im guilty of carrying too much tackle in my bass pro xps backpack. I bought this pack a year ago because the 3600 boxes slide in horizontal so my terminal tackle doesnt jump the dividers. I found a 3600 size box by Piscifun that is same thickness as other 3600s but but has a top and bottom flap to store 2x as many jerkbaits crankbaits etc. That probably didnt help my tackle weight issue. Lol. I bought one of those plano edge terminal tackle boxes, but it doesnt fit my pack which is a bummer. I dont suppose u know a good 3600 for terminal tackle u can recommend? Im a bank fisherman and i really appreciate when i find videos that help me out or teach me stuff for bank fishing. Thank you for this video. Im going to subscribe to your channel.
Hey man I love the videos, I live in Ball Ground, GA and as you said, find it very hard to fish due to most lakes being private or hard to get to. Also, I'm a huge fan of 13 fishing, I only fish their reels 2 concept z and 2 concept c. How can I get my hands on some of those 13 fishing lures you've got. Are you sponsored by them ?
Hey, I've been working with braided line and a new spinning real. Any idea of a good reel and braided line that doesn't causes nests all the time. I've tried so many with this reel and haven't had much success
It could be a few things. It could be the way you are putting it on the reel, you could be fishing a lure that causes a lot of line twist like an in-line spinner without a swivel, it might be the reel itself. It's hard to tell.
@@Flukemaster The Reel is the Abu Garcia Revo X Baitcast Reel - REVO4 X-L, the line is Moss Green PowerPro Braided. Outcome is the same regardless of lure or setup and I use swivels on any lures that flip or spin at all.
Man I couldn’t stop staring at all that tackle hanging on the wall behind you. Tackle goals for sure!
Makes us all jealous!
@@262Fishing yeah

He said he's not trying to show off! 🤷

That's awesome man.
I use a small Jansport backpack, looks tiny but I can carry everything I need and then some. I can't imagine bank fishing without it.
Great tip about splurging on the terminal tackle box. I get so tired of picking bullet weights out of worm hooks and split shots out of swimbait heads. I need to upgrade to a box like the one you showed. Didn't realize until this video that those prevent the flopping around.

Davida Gillett This made me smile :)
I have those little blue scissors, they are the best!
Hey Gene can you do a “Tackle Tuesday” on about how to pack tackle and how many rod setups is acceptable as a co-angler? Such as backpack? Or small boxes or even plastic bags? Just a thought. Hope you see this comment.
Love your channel. Taking my girlfriends kids fishing for the first time later today. Thanks for all your advice!
You show a lot of love ❤️ to bank fisherman and I thank you 🙏for that.
I just opened a Plano Trail-Pack box from the '80s, still loaded with soft plastic worms, and the box was perfect as were the worms.
Gene, you should do Flukemaster backpacks for the website with the logo. Would be cool looking!
Seconded!
I third this idea!
Fourth’d!
I would fifth this idea!
May have been 2 year but I sixth'd this
Thanks for sharing the knowledge about what soft plastics do when stored in plastic boxes, great info.
Great Advice and tips as always. I live in New Jersey and though I have a kayak. I still love walking the banks of ponds and smaller lakes.
I used to carry the old school tacklebox but I upgraded to the bag and it's a lot easier than travel on foot with one less thing to carry in your hands
Thanks again Fluke! I'm going to send this to some of my nephews and friends who like to bring the kitchen sink when I take em fishing. Lol (not to mention, I needed to hear it.The kayak gear has been getting heavier lately. )

Great video! Just starting to fish with braid and I appreciate the tip on the scissors. The stuff can be tough to cut!

I found this video to be very informative! Big thumbs up! I’m glad I still have my Fluke Master T-Shirts! 🙌
Excellent tips! Especially regarding soft plastics and terminal tackle. Subscribed.
I also carry a pair of side cutters so if the bass is hooked deep I can cut the barb off and the hook come right out
I click the like button for the title alone
Gotta love youtube auto generated captions.
"..my name is Jean Jetson.."
Lol I enjoyed that too
100% agree on sunglasses for safety purposes. I won't fish without them.
Good video. Just moved here to Minnesota, heaps of good bank fishing opportunities (the state record bass caught in a lake 5 mi. from me). Anxious to get started. Thanks.

Exactly. It sucks
Awesome video! One more thing I grab with me... tick repellent!! They’ve been really bad here in Northern VA this year.
Yikes. I have had hundreds of them on my at one time here in Georgia. The tiny seed ticks. It was bad.
Great tips sir. As always you da man.
Best bank fishing set is the Bobber rig.
Gene, I got a several spots in Columbus if you ever want to stop by.
I have a ton of private ponds I’d be happy to take you to! Near Athens Ga
great infos as usual keep em coming
Good to know about the plasics, Thanks

That terminal box is game changer
Yes it is
Flambeau terminal tackle box is good and try all of your plastics in ziplock bags
gene great vibs I boat fish only still trying learn when to switch lures but then someone said different rod reel to keep it simple on a boat please show how to go fish a lake
You should do a video on what bait to use when fishing a creek cause I’m going to Gatlinburg this weekend and I wanna do some fishing
Awesome video, what line would you use for the medium bait caster set up?
20 pound braid
Can you get away with 1 medium spinner and 1 medium heavy baitcaster? Glad you mentioned keeping soft plastics in the bags. Vids are awesome! 2 weeks ago I knew nothing and now I feel somewhat knowledgeable after watching so many of your vids!
You sure can.
Flukemaster this is one of the bags I’m looking at along with maybe also the Flambeau Ike 50. Thanks again for all the work you put into these videos. www.cabelas.com/product/CABELAS-ADVANCED-ANGLER-BACKPACK/2398196.uts

I usually leave my terminal tackle in the packages and leave a larger compartment in my jigs tackle box
Gene thanks for the advice I enjoy your channel great tips
Wassup fluke your awesome I love your content
Gene I have a question about hooking bass in the lower jaw with worm hooks. I was fishing may 5 today Every smallmouth had the hook in it lower jaw. I have never seen it before

I use the silica gel packs along with a moisture proof box because I would still get rust .
I used those packs for years. They work great.
Thanks i really like to meet and fish with one day soon, I'm in stone mountain ga...
Is that a damn tackle shop or your tackle room 😂 you've got more than academy keeps in stock
Hi, Gene. Love your videos. I'm taking up fishing, but am taking up motorcycle camping as well. I was wondering if you (or anyone reading this) knew of a good collapsible fishing rod that would fit in a motorcycle helmet sized space?
Woooohooooo jersey got a mention thanks man
Hey Fluke are you affiliated with Plano or any other company making boxes?
Dude. Blade cutting scissors! SOLD!
LOL. Yep. They will cut anything.
I was just looking at the ugly stik carbons spinning rod and trying to figure out what rod to get then this video popped up at the perfect time. I would like to see a review on the carbon rods their isn't a good one on TH-cam.
Great vid! Hope you do more bank fishing videos... What line would you recommend for each combo?
Line is totally up to you. I use braided main line to a fluorocarbon leader on my spinning and fluorocarbon on my baitcasters.
Not a moderate action. There really isn't enough difference between a Fast and Extra Fast to worry about it.
Hey what's a good lake in Georgia to bank fish?Me and my husband been looking to take our 12 year old daughter.
How about a video on foot wear. For the bank fisher
Do you ever use swivels on you rod setups to make changing baits easier
Thanks for the tips.
do too physical limitations ... I find a spincaster reel is my option. and docks close to parking... ??? any suggestions. I doubt I could get in and out of a kayak or get it on/off my caravan.
Awesome video 📹
Budget fisherman here. Do you have a budget friendly pair of sunglasses you can recommend?
Strike King Sunglasses is what I buy for my kids. The are great glasses and can take a beating but when my kids destroy them I'm not out 200 dollars.
Anyone else wonder what a made I'm almost laugh at 4:09 ? 🤔🤣
I like Shimano Conquest rods and Shimano $700 reels. Buy reels from Japan. The yen has fallen so much, you can get them for 70 percent less than in the USA.
As a fellow Georgian bank fisherman, it SUCKS! All the the ponds near me are either golf courses or private neighborhoods that don’t allow fishing
nice tips
Gene, would you recommend vibe kayaks?
They are good kayaks. I'm just not happy that they copied the hull design of the Bonafide in their latest kayak. They used to have original ideas but not anymore.
GREAT video! Can I ask what is all that tackle behind you?
That's some of the new lures offered by 13 Fishing.
Click on the link below for the Plano Edge 3600. It's not the terminal box and is the size you need.
@@Flukemaster Thank u for your response. The edge 3600 looks like its going to be the ticket!
My Plano 3700 edge does not sit flush I had all of my terminal tackle mix
Hey man I love the videos, I live in Ball Ground, GA and as you said, find it very hard to fish due to most lakes being private or hard to get to.
Also, I'm a huge fan of 13 fishing, I only fish their reels 2 concept z and 2 concept c.
How can I get my hands on some of those 13 fishing lures you've got.
Are you sponsored by them ?
Yes, I'm sponsored by them. You can get them from Tackle Warehouse. Just click on my affiliate link in the description.
I've got an ultra light ugly stick with a pfluger president on it, is that okay?
sheesh where does he get all of those lures😍
Ya I got one of those 40 pound bags trying to learn this helps 😂😂😂
Hey, I've been working with braided line and a new spinning real. Any idea of a good reel and braided line that doesn't causes nests all the time. I've tried so many with this reel and haven't had much success
It could be a few things. It could be the way you are putting it on the reel, you could be fishing a lure that causes a lot of line twist like an in-line spinner without a swivel, it might be the reel itself. It's hard to tell.
@@Flukemaster The Reel is the
Abu Garcia Revo X Baitcast Reel - REVO4 X-L, the line is
Moss Green PowerPro Braided. Outcome is the same regardless of lure or setup and I use swivels on any lures that flip or spin at all.
Bro, we need a room tour
Man how do I bed fish in dirty water does Indiana Bed fishing has been a struggle
Black baits are your friend in murky water, also any baits that have a hard shaking action.
Watch this th-cam.com/video/uddaTQEilPY/w-d-xo.html
This is an a old video
Is this is in a shop or your house because you got a lot of not opened lures and soft plastic.
It's my office. It takes a lot of tackle to fish 250 days a year.
Sweet
What line do you put on each rod
