Nice review and like the sticker
I just started lockpicking as a hobby a few weeks ago because of you and Lock Picking Lawyer, this tool looks great for both the beginner and the more seasoned picker. Not something you're likely to "outgrow" and replace with repeated use.
Love how tight the tension tool locks in and how portable this is! Southord seems to know what they're doing !
Great review. I've been watching a lot of jackknife reviews lately, and the Southord jackknife is always in the top 3. I'm a new picker so I'm slowly building my tools and locks, I would absolutely love to win this. Even if I don't win the jackknife, I would still love a sticker to put on my lockpicking bench :). Keep up the great work, it's people like you that give me motivation to keep progressing with my lockpicking skills.
The one criticism I have is using a foreign tension tool in a review of the tool set you have.
I am not sure you would pick the American easily with the tension tool you get.
That said though good review.
My suggestion for someone who uses this is to get a wiper blade that can be used for totk and fit in under the stock tension tool when packed away.
I like that Southord got rid of the key extractor for a short hook.
Normally I wouldn’t think was a big deal but I understand why you’re saying it for a jackknife. Having said that. You can use improvise a tension tool far easier than you can improvise a pick. I have a few paper clips in my edc for exactly that reason.
Have you seen a tok wiper insert anywhere? I’m loathe to try making one because my diy skills suck.
@@adamwest8711 A simple way to make a top of the keyway tension tool out of a wiper blade is to either take a extra bottom keyway tool and cut it down or to get another with a shorter tensioning end and place it under the stock tension tool to hold it in.
I personally hate using paper clips to make tension tools.
Usually I would agree, but it’s an American Lock.. Good luck picking that with BoK. 🙄
Also, bringing extra tensioners along with your jackknife is pretty easy, compared to carrying a whole pick kit when your out and about.
It’s a awesome little pick set I’ve been proud to say I’ve had one in my pocket for about 20 years

The thicker shank profile seems to make sense. The handle being larger then a traditional pick handle more picking pressure can result in the whippy feeling you described.
Over all a good jackknife .
After seeing your review of the Southord Pick pen I ordered one and have been very happy with it!!!
Narrow shafts and enough room inside to stash my favorite TOK wrench makes this my favorite of this type of pick set! 😀

Great looking pick I have a Chinese version jackknife pick many years ago but only held up to a few pickings before breaking. Southord makes great pics I’m sure this one would be a great edc pick. Great video!

Good honest review as always. Just the thing to have in a pocket when you don't want to carry your tool kit around.
A fair review.
The only mildly annoying thing about these Multipick type tools is that they generally only have one type of tension tool.
Not sure if that play in the picks would bug me or not too.
If you take a small piece of wiper blade insert you can make yourself a Top of Keyway tensioner.
As long as you keep it to about 2.5" overall length, it'll fit perfectly underneath your existing tensioner.
If you don't have a car, ask at your local mechanic's if they have any broken wiper blades you could purloin. There's usually a couple in one of their bins.
If you can't do that, you could just use a piece of bent bobby pin. That'll fit fine under your tensioner as well. 👍🏻
My first ever lock pick was a silver one of these when I was a teenager! Glad too see there still around!

Great , fair review. Have carried a southord jack knife for probably ten years now. It's worn and winning a new one would be great
I just got one of these about 2 weeks ago. I needed a new edc. I like it. If you take the rubber grommet off the screw the pick will stay tightly in place and not have that lil flop to it!!!
Is that safe does it have any side affects
@@jmn-5554 not that I'm aware of bud! I actually gave it to a friend and I bought the southord pick pen it comes with 15 different picks and several tensioners! It's awesome but everything from southord is but there a lil expensive but like the saying goes you get what you pay for! If you want Bosnian Bill every review he has done on southord products has been a thumbs up! The jack knive only had the one tension wrench so it was very limiting

Ok I tried it and when I got my jackknife and it works it’s just the without the O ring the screw doesn’t stay in place
@@jmn-5554 whatever works for ya bud! I liked it I just found it wasn't a good EDC for me because it was so limited. Only one tension wrench and theres only 5 picks or whatever I just like the southord pick pen better you get several tensioners and about 15 picks and rakes! Alot more options and can get into alot more locks

I like the stealthy black colour and the O-ring could that be removed for a firmer lock on the selected pick.

Good review. I like others wish there was more than one tension wrench. It would also be nice to have some extra pick profiles so it could be a bit more customizable for the individual user.

My Secure Pro jackknife lockpick set didn't have an O-ring on the locking screw and it would work itself loose when I tried to use it. I found a suitable O-ring among my paintball gear and used it to keep the screw from loosening.
Haven’t tried any of the jackknife sets but like the look of this one from Southord.

It seems like this is one of the best jack-knife sets out there.
It's a bit on the expensive side for me, but I guess you're also paying for the quality of the materials as well as the overall build.
Tbh I wouldn't use the tensioning tool it comes with for fear of bending it and ruining it (since it also works as a nice cover for the picks), Instead I would use a wiper blade insert.

With the way I tend to lock my keys in my shed, a pick like this would be perfect for me.
I agree it's a wonderful jackknife set. Far better it appears than alot of Chinese junk ones. Great video. I'm sure whomever gets it will appreciate having this nice tool at their disposal to carry and use( legally of course) Fingers crossed.

Looks well made, I have used cheap £5 jackknifes before with varying success so this would be interesting to have a go with.
Had one of these in normal silver/chrome finish, until it was pinched from my kit. I've been looking to get another as I miss it.
seems like a good tool to always have on hand as there is a bunch of regular use heads in a small package
Thanks for the thoughtful review. I’d be interested to see if the wider shafts and loose picks reduce my (already limited) picking skills. IMHO the sticker just might be the real prize.
The loose picks can be fixed if you remove the O-Ring, the O-Ring prevents the screw from tightening all the way. If the screw is coming loose you can put a drop of loctite on the threads.
