    I've owned two Ducati motorcycles with Ohlins suspension and can tell you their suspension is great. Where you really notice and appreciate it is through bumpy corners, where the Ohlins isn't flustered at all - it doesn't change direction, but continues with your intended path. It's worth the price premium for the confidence it imparts in the rider.

    Ohlins aftermarket automotive suspensions are fantastic, with better grip via improved compliance without being soft and wallowing.
    I look forward to reviews of their MTB products.

    I also started with Manitou, in 1993. I have the Privateer 141 Ohlins Edition. Love it for smashing down West coast descents. I would agree with the conclusion of the video. Recently I just built up a custom hardtail with a Manitou fork, the Mezzer. It rides pretty well too. No complaints.

    I had Ohlins fork and shock. Rode them for about 3 months and came to the conclusion the stiffness was just too fatiguing over long rides. Especially over rooty trails. Switched back to Fox.

    Hi Clint!
    Do you know how serviceable the ohlins shock/fork is vs a Fox/rochshox? I currently have the fox DPS and fox 34 and thanks to your tutorials, its been easy to service with the availablity of Fox parts.

    Hi Clint, I'm currently test-riding a SCOTT GENIUS ST 910 BIKE and it come with the Ohlins RXF36m.2 Air 160mm
    I have to say I'm very impressed with the fork.
    Cheers from Switzerland

    I love Fox too and just upgraded to a factory 34, about which I have zero complaints so far. It's great. But I do love the increasing diversity of options in the industry and it will be better for consumers in the long run and 'spur' more innovation (if you'll pardon the pun).

    A great review I must say, especially concerning the ride quality. Thanks so much Clint.

    I've been using the original version of the Ohlins RXF34 since June of 2017, and it was a noticeable improvement over the Fox fork that came with my bike (2014 Giant Trance X29). I noticed that the bike held its line better and was more supportive in rough stuff. A lot fewer situations where I felt like I was going to go over the bars (bike has a 69.5 head angle). However, it replaced a Fox 32 Performance fork with a FIT damper so maybe a Fox 34 would have offered the same improvement in keeping a line. The original RXF34 has a second ramp up air chamber which I like very much. Instead of adding tokens you add more air to this second chamber. I find that I prefer lower air pressures for my weight than what the chart on the fork specifies for the main air chamber and the same or a little higher for the ramp up air chamber.

    Ohlins has been making great inroads in the mtb space. On my bike I have a Fox 34 with the Grip 2 damper. Feels great, but I’d like to know how the Ohlins compare. For cars, their suspension is top notch. I drive an EV which weighs way too much. It has Ohlins dampers. Without them it would flounder. With them, I feel like I can drive it like a rally car. Really interested to know how it works out on the bike.

    Wow cool looking fork and shock. I was curious about these and seeing them reviewed by someone I trust. My SID stuff on my new Spur are kind of harsh, actually mostly the fork. I'm having to put less air then they recommend.

    Ohlins is the absolute pinnacle in motorcycle suspension. They made their way from Motogp to high spec motorcycles…..now bicycles.

    This sounds perfect for pavement and light trail riding on my aluminum hardtail. The current Suntour monstrosity must go!!! Just can't seem to find my axle to crown measurement anywhere online.

    Hey Clint! Thanks so much for all your vids and info on XC, DC, and short travel bikes. Because of your Spur reviews and the recent Transition sales :), I sold my Hightower for a Spur and absolutely love it. I do find it a little twitchy at times on the downs, this is really only a big deal for me at the end of my rides when I start to fatigue. I purchased the Fox GX Spur and would love to try the Ohlins setup on the Spur. Even if I sacrificed some plushness for stability on the descents, and also wouldn't mind increasing the front travel 10mm to increase stability on the downs and stay compliant with Transition's recommendations to not increase front travel by over 10mm. Was wondering if you were going to post an update to this video soon and particularly on the rear TTX shock? Also, can you post exactly what models you purchased from Oholins and what travel they are? Thanks again!

    I’d really like you to review the cane creek db il air;
    And compare it to the ohlins,
    It radically changed my own spur for the better.
    I’m also running a pike 140 up front .
    Maybe cane creek could loan you a db il air and a a 130 helm?
    Thanks
    Ezra

    My parents in law have the Volvo XC suv with the Ohlins shocks. I like how their car rides, so comfortable, but that's too be expected at that price. Can't say about their bike or motorcycle stuff as I never used it.

    Had a Pike Ultimate for a while. After months of tinkering I couldnt make it ride as well as a Fox Rythm. Always sat too high in travel and felt harsh. Cant see myself buying Ohlins fork as upgrade but wouldnt turn down a chance on a decent complete bike, package deal.

    • @LastAphelion
      @LastAphelion ปีที่แล้ว

      I constantly hear stuff like this about the pike, lyric, and sometimes seems a toss up if people can get their zeb dialed or if it also ends up being harsh, so I'm never sure whether to take away if RS just isn't as good or it's harder to dial and could be fine

    I run my forks with more pressure over sag requirements for the reasons you suggested riding this fork giving it a bit more stiff and supportive . I don't like a spongy diving feel to the fork

    When I erased championships cup on a GSXR 1000 what's the orange inserts in a TTX rear shock spring to my weight. I remember going into the mountain bike shop when Olhan's just started to get into it. The owner had bought a high-end Aaron gwin transition bike I believe that had Ohlans on it. I asked him how he liked it he said it was extremely harsh... So Ohlans America send a tech in revavled his suspension. But like I told them just give them time to catch up to the mountain bike world. They will dominate everybody.

    Hi Clint, a little bit of a side question, do you ever use mudguards for your trail and gravel riding to protect your fork seals and general protection, especially out there in Florida?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t really need it here in Florida. If the trails are really wet we just don’t ride them because the soils are too fragile and it really damages the trails. I’ll probably get one for my summer riding up in the mountains. I haven’t used them in the past but it’s probably time to start using one.
