Tan, what I loved about this video is that it wasn’t a “production”. It was just you and Rob in your house, showing us what you cook and how you make it. It’s organic, REAL, and it felt like I just walked in while you were cooking, asked you what you were making, and you just decided to show me how it all goes down. I enjoyed it immensely and hope to see more like it.

another thing you can add lots to your tharka for example green chilies chopped, mustard seeds, curry leaves and its will b even more flavorful,,,, also lots of dal is more watery because it is usually eaten with rice so reduce to your preference! also adding tomatos and onions is pretty common if you want something more than lentils

I learned to make red lentils from my Iranian friend. She browns diced onion and minced garlic in oil, adds spices (coriander, cumin, and a spice blend she brought back from Iran) and tomato paste, lets it cook for a bit, then adds the lentils, water, and either a chopped carrot or potato (I've made it with sweet potato before). Once it cooks down, she mashes up the veggies and mixes everything together. It is SO good!

So good! I just made it this morning with some brown lentils that I have had for an embarrassingly long time and it turned out great! I don't have fresh cilantro but I'm sure it would have made it even better. Thanks Tan!

Omg! So excited to see you! I’ve been binge re-watching Queer Eye and watching Fab 5 videos during the quarantine. You five just give me such a sense of calm and put me at ease. Hope you’re staying safe, love you Tan!

OMG I wish my French Canadian grandmother knew you when she was with us! Just how you move in the kitchen and talk about feeding people and putter about... You and her would have not understood each other at all but it would be such a love match - thank you for posting

Love this recipe Tan. Thanks. I love adding red lentils to any soup. Making a cooking video not as easy as it looks. You did great.

Tan, you are amazing! I'm in Utah too and have been shocked at the level of panic hoarding! At least they will know how to make amazing food with the lentils they bought out. 😁 Thank you for producing content!

Tan, this cooking series makes my heart so warm and fuzzy! I’m Pakistani and rarely see Pakistani representation in desi food (its always said to be Indian) seeing you in Queer eye has been so empowering and heart warming lysm ❤️❤️

Is it Baazigar o Baazigar I hear in the background? Great, now it's going to be stuck in my head all day. All that amazing music in the subcontinent and your 90s kid brain fought and the later won.
